I will be starting this review by saying I have bought 5 Taylor's from this place. Each and every one of them is unique in styling ,quality and performance. I can honestly say the service knowledge and generous allowance of time I was given by the sales people here have been unmatched by anyone else. You can go to Guitar Center or any other warehouse guitar shop and be treated like cattle by limited information from the sales people there or you can go to a place like this and receive the knowledge and know how from those who really do know about the guitars they're selling. The only fear I have here is I tend to buy another guitar with each visit. Lol However, that's simply because everything they have is good quality with equal value. read more

Best in the bay !!!! Service with a smile.... And the best showroom for PRS ever ! I don't go anywhere else !!!

Exceptional. Service was a pickup swap, sent out to an off site tech (LM?) Thanks man. Turn around was pretty swift. Y'all went above and beyond. Came back prettier and playing even better than it was when sent in. And thanks for the lower action on it too! read more

Our so take lessons here. He's always excited to go and the energy is always positive .

Walked in to see about purchasing a guitar for my husband . Took two steps into the store and two men at the same time, couldn't wait to jump on me for bringing my dogs , barely inside , Caught me completely off guard . Downtown Danville is super pet friendly, my doodles are hypoallergenic and never been approached that aggressively! As a business owner myself, maybe tone it down or practice a little more customer service or ease . read more

I've shopping at Danville Music for over 5 years. They have the best selection of high end PRS guitars, Suhr, Fender, and even Gibson. The entire staff is super nice. Adam and Cameron are great, as are Nathan, Dave, and Lance. I've traded several guitars over the ears, purchased several, and recently ordered a custom build through them. I can honestly say this place is the best. If you're in the bay area you need to go check them out. If you're buying online you need to check them out. read more

After talking at length with a sales person on the phone, my blind music partner and I were assured that the guitar and amplifier we inquired about was in stock. I did not mention that we travel with her Guide Dog (Ferguson) from Guide Dogs For The Blind in San Raphael. We arrived, having traveled an hour from El Cerrito, fully prepared to spend ~$4000, and see if they could order another $4000 worth of gear. While attempting to seat my Blind partner with her pup, a short, young, bespeckled man rushed over and said "No dogs allowed in here." I quickly informed of the "Guide Dog" status, to which he replied "Doesn't matter- you can't have a dog in here". I gently informed him of the law, via ADA, and he repeated, "Doesn't matter, you cant have him in here". At that point, the man behind the counter shouted, over a few customers' heads, that he had allergies and we need to get the dog out. I told him we'll be leaving, but that he should familiarize himself with possible exemptions of ADA rules. My feeling is, that if we had been treated more politely and professionally, we would have been happy to return later, when he was not present, to consummate a win-win deal with a different sales person. Seriously rude treatment from both staff members. This is not a misinterpretation of the exchange; these guys were crude. I am neither vindictive nor litigious by nature, nor is my Blind partner. But in this case, she is seriously considering action. read more

Everybody here is super chill and respectful. As someone who just started playing guitar, i always feel uncomfortable exposing my lack of knowledge when i go to a store, but Danville Music makes you feel right at home. Dave and Lance are especially helpful and very chill. Their Guitar Tech/Repair service is also phenomenal. And the fact that i can buy a guitar here, and they will do free service on it for life is one thing that keeps bringing me back. Not to mention the price point of their gear. Nothing beats Danville Music read more

Been playing and perusing guitar and music stores for 40 years now. This shop is my favorite, ever.

Best music store in the Bay Area. Filled with high end gear. Knowledgeable staff that is helpful.

Love these guys and the energy they bring. Brought in a guitar that needed to be cleaned up and restrung as a birthday gift and they helped me get it done same day and you can tell they have a heart for customer service, keep it up! read more

This review is long overdue. I've been coming to Danville Music for about four years now, and every single time, I'm impressed. It's one of the best independent music stores in America, hands down. The staff? Friendly, charismatic, knowledgeable, and just plain cool. They know their stuff, and they're great with people -- imagine a cross between a top-tier session guitarist and a great bartender, and you're getting close. Danville Music is more than a store; it's a hub of inspiration for Danville and the greater Bay Area. They offer music lessons, band instruments, and more. But for me, it's all about the guitars. I've bought countless sets of strings and four different guitars here, and every visit feels like a new discovery. Their selection of acoustic and electric guitars is incredible -- the very best brands across a range of price points: PRS, Collings, Novo, Fender Custom Shop, Suhr. Want to see some of the finest American guitars in one place? Support a small business that truly makes a difference in its community? Get a little musical inspiration--or just hang out with some great people and have a laugh? Take a trip to Danville Music. You'll be glad you did. read more

I have been going here for years to get my daughter's violin for string class. The staff is always incredible - knowledgeable, friendly, and extremely funny! Their process to rent and to return is seamless. They make it so so easy from start to finish. Their rental prices is great and totally painless monthly rental payment. I set the payment on automatic throughout the school year and I never need to worry. This is the place to go if you're looking for instruments to purchase or rent. Keep up the great customer service!! read more

What a cool place! Just picked up my first LP. I am a returning player, and I got the guitar I always wanted as a kid. Before I left, Cameron set the action perfectly. Looking forward to playing it in the coming years. This store has an awesome vibe. Nice and relaxing, just a great overall experience. To Danville Music (Nate and Cameron): I really appreciate what you guys are doing. Can't wait for my next visit to go amp shopping. read more

I've been coming to Danville music for at least 10 years at least one of my family members learn to play guitar there and one of my closest family friends was a teacher at DM, so I can tell you this place is always been great and they have continued to be great. Wow, this is easily one of the best music stores in the Bay Area, hands down! It's crazy how the Bay is seriously lacking in high-end music stores, which makes Danville Music a rare gem. They carry so many awesome brands: PRS, Fender, Gibson, Music Man, Suhr, Novo, Duesenberg, and the list goes on. The selection is amazing! The staff is always super friendly and attentive. I've bought a few guitars from here already and will for sure buy more in the future! read more

I love that place, and the staff is super cool! I was absolutely floored by the quality of instruments they have. And the staff actually wants you to play. It made sense that people were just hanging out. And a response to Karen..,.uh, I mean Hila. She wrote a bad review because her dogs, really big ones, were now allowed in the store except for legit service dogs. I saw the sign, no pets allowed except for service dogs. Duh. Why is she so entitled? Seriously, respect peoples businesses. And btw, there is NO SUCH THING as a hyper-allergenic dog. Yes, it is a truly expensive, man created breed that command a fortune, but don't follow the false advertisements of many breeders as they usually dont do it for the love of the animal but for the love of the big bucks, so they'll say anything. Besides, I wouldn't buy a 7 thousand dollar guitar that had dog pee on it. Policy is policy Karen...uh, yeah, Karen. Deal with it. I'll be back! read more

These guys are my heroes! Great service amazing friendly staff. I had an issue with a twelve string guitar and brought it in. A string happened to break, while I was there, and they replaced it for me in 2 seconds. Cameron and Lance were so nice and incredibly helpful. Please don't go to guitar center. Come here. read more

On March 8, 2026 I spoke to a salesman at Danville Music on the phone and established that he had products in stock I was seriously interested in purchasing that day with an estimated value of $4000. I let him know I was coming from El Cerrito, which is a roughly two-hour round-trip. I am blind and have a guide-dog for mobility. My sighted partner and I drove to Danville. After arriving at the store and making our way to a seating area to await a salesperson, a staffer immediately approached and loudly said no dogs were allowed in the store. No "sorry"' no "please understand", or offer of any viable solution. Basically just "leave". My partner stated that this is a guide dog, and referred to ADA rules, but the man said that does not matter and we would have to leave. At that point, the salesman we spoke to earlier by phone chimed in loudly from behind the counter and said, despite the ADA rules, due to his allergy, no dogs are allowed in the store. That salesman acknowledged that he had spoken to us earlier by phone and that we came from a long distance but still insisted that we had to leave with my guide dog. These men were loud and rude, which drew the attention of nearly a dozen customers. Being so publicly and unceremoniously ejected from this business was humiliating. read more

I made my first trip today to Danville Music and was blown away! I went to check out a specific guitar that they kindly held for me (bought it!) and was pleased to discover my new favorite Bay Area guitar store. Lot's of incredible guitars both reasonable and at Custom Shop price points. The person who helped me (Cameron) even did a set up on my new guitar to my specs and a string change (to my preferred gauge) right then and there! The atmosphere in the store reminded me of my old favorite guitar store on Gleeson in Portland, OR (long gone), well curated and cozy living room vibe. I highly recommend this store! read more

I just brought my first PRS (Wood Library CE 24). After weeks of research and going into other guitar stores, I decided to make the 45 minute trek to see the PRS collection at Danville Music. The store was a bit smaller than appeared online, but boy, was it chock full of quality guitars! I love that every single PRS is updated live in their online store. This made shopping and comparing different models much easier. Lance was great; he showed me about all the models and let me take a few into a private room to try. He was attentive and helpful, but NO PRESSURE... and unlike other guitar stores, the guitars were clean and well cared for. The selection, the team and the quality were great. I already knew driving away I would be back soon. 6 days later, I returned and got my very first PRS which compliments my American Professional II Telecaster nicely. This is an amazing guitar. read more

Great music store! Huge selection of guitar effects pedals. The staff is very helpful and friendly.

Wonderful store and staff. I emailed back and forth several times this week to get some information about a violin for my son. They were very prompt in their response and very helpful. We ended up deciding to stop in to let my son get a feel for the instrument as well as see what they had. The store is easy to find with lots of parking. Inside is large, well arranged, and clean. There is a large selection of gorgeous guitars on display. Staff is super helpful and knowledgable. We ended up leaving without an instrument just because we have some decisions to make, but we will be back to visit this store again in the future, especially once my other child is ready to upgrade to a full size guitar (or maybe I finally need one). read more

This is as much an eye candy gallery as it is a guitar shop. Even non-players will enjoy stopping in to see the amazing selection here. It really is like an art gallery. And the staff is so great - the most friendly guitar shop I've ever been in. I bought my Suhr here and it was perfectly set up. The buying process was zero pressure. Highly recommend Danville Music. read more

This might be the best guitar shop in the country. I worked with Dave and another employee on buying my dream guitar and they made the whole experience fun and easy. There's none of the boutique guitar shop snobbery here; these guys love to talk about gear and make everyone feel like old friends. They gave me a fair price for my trade and gave me a ton of good information about the guitar I was considering. Thanks to Dave and the whole crew at Danville Music. Definitely my new favorite guitar shop. read more

My first experience with Danville Music was not what I had hoped for, but Adam and staff made things right. You can tell more about a store and its staff by how they handle issues than when everything goes perfect. I'll be back. Thanks for standing behind your work. read more

Purchased a custom Taylor guitar that Danville Music spec'd out. Their website showed amazing pictures, but I needed to hear it. I have been to Danville Music a handful of times over the last year or so. First off the staff there are absolutely the most accommodating I've ever dealt with at any music store. I've been a guitar player for over 50 years and it's always been like being on a used car lot going into music stores. At Danville Music they are patient and really listen to what you're looking for. You can try out an awesome collection of fine instruments and never feel like you're wasting their time. And even if it's not quite time for you to buy yet all they'll say is: "Hope to see you soon!". I got to chat with Cameron about my choices and he was great. You feel a sense of kindred souls with the staff and even the clients who drop by. If I want to expand my collection I won't go anywhere else. read more

Just bought a PRS Wood Library Custom 24 and a Taylor acoustic this week. I'm not used to dealing with a place and staff who make you feel welcomed and not pressured. They have a fantastic selection and the prices are just as good if not better than some of the big retailers. If they can match prices (or beat them) they will do so. The entire staff is great. I moved here to Nor Cal about 7 years ago and Norman's Rare Guitars was my "go to" in So Cal. These guys do not have a bunch of super old vintage guitars and amps. What they DO have is just about everything else you can want from entry level to Custom Shop stuff. New and used. They have tons of swag and all kinds of cool straps etc. shirts too. Oh, lessons. They do lessons and have some of the best instructors. I'm presently learning Mandolin. Danville Music, you guys are the best! No, I was NOT paid for this review. read more

I drove two hours to check out Danville music last weekend since there are no good guitar stores in the Sacramento area. I loved the store they have an awesome selection of guitars. Cameron and Nate were very helpful, friendly and offered me a very fair price for my trades and I walked away with an awesome used Bourgeois acoustic. I will definitely be back as I have my eyes on a Suhr, a PRS and a Music Man and a few more things.....lol Do yourself a favor drive a little further and give this amazing music store a shot....you will love it! read more

Popped in for a look, met Adam. My advice? Talk to this guy before you buy anything. He has a uniquely astute understanding of a great many things. Only one of the best music shops on the West Coast or anywhere! Cameron, Adam and the other employees here are a breath of fresh air in what can be a very 'difficult,' industry. Honest, genuine, and real players here, along with some of the best gear ever. From G&L, to top of the line PRS; these are some of the finest instruments anywhere, and the guys have the knowledge and passion to hook you up with whatever you need. Just pop in, you will not be disappointed. *NOTE - G status guitar repairs are also a phenomenal tech outfit that does perfect guitar mods/ set-ups etc and Danville Music is one of their drop off points. read more

Love this place. Excellent customer service. They give more than 100% to everyone who walks into their store.

Absolutely love this shop and all the people that work here. I can't tell you how many times they've gone above and beyond to address our family's many musical needs. Piano, guitar, violin, bass and soon to be trumpet lessons and rentals. You name it, this is the place to go in the area. The staff have a wide mix of musical backgrounds so there's always someone who knows how to answer your question or solve your problem. The owner is a local person, too, so it's great to support a local business. Highly, highly recommend Danville Music! read more
