We used photos and ideas from magazines, websites and other sources to show your designer. We started by identifying our "needs" and "wants". Then we went to determine what's most important to you to help manage costs. The team walked through each item on our list to understand function and cost. We went shopping to look at fixture options. Having a general idea of the fixtures you like (tubs, sinks, etc.) is helpful, as their dimensions affect the design. It's best establish a budget range so the designer can make recommendation. Kaitlyn helped us through the process, and we went over budget so my tips may help. She offered alternatives however we like what we like. The best part of the process was the communication. The portal used to send updates worked great. Kaitlyn allowed us to express our ideas, preferences, and concerns clearly and honestly. She took all of that and worked out a layout that was far beyond our dreams. She kept us actively involved in the design process and provide timely feedback. All the right steps were taken during the design process. TheRemodelGroup maintained open communication with us and helped us create a beautiful and functional bathroom design that hopefully will meet our needs and enhance our home.

They followed through and met all the goals we mutually set. What really impressed me was how they accommodated some special needs we had. For medical reasons, I have to be able to take a bath approximately every 72 hours, though 48 is better. They made sure to set things up so that I never had to go more than three days without tub access. We did have a problem with one supplier, Kohler. They sent two subtly different colored shower wall panels. Though we looked at them outside before installation, because we hadn't checked them side by side once indoors, we didn't realize the mistake after installation took place. Kohler not only sent the wrong colored panels, they continued to shoot past every single delivery date they gave us for months. We were supposed to get the panels at the end of November. They didn't arrive until March and it upped the cost of the project because THE Remodel Group had to demo out what was first installed and then install the proper product. Because I approved what we saw before it was installed, they could have told me "Not our problem, you need to pay for it," but they didn't. They cut their rate for the demo and reinstall to labor only. Even months after the project was done, THE Remodel Group continued to advocate on our behalf for Kohler to reimburse us for that extra cost and yesterday, Steve delivered the check in person. While the project did have delays, it was out of THE Remodel Group's hands. Every single person I've ever talked with about having a contractor work on the house has had horror stories about their contractors. While we did have a problem with the project, THE Remodel Group was absolutely perfect. We recommend them to anyone and everyone. They will be our first and only call when we want to remodel our other bathroom and kitchen in the future.

Also the cost estimate seemed very fair to me. The remodel of my bathroom involved demolishing everything down to the studs and removal of a jacuzzi tub. Jerry came to the house everyday to monitor  plumbing and electrical work as well as all other work to be done for the completion of the remodel. Jerry is a perfectionist and among other projects, he made sure that the tile work of my shower and floor would be perfect. I liked the fact that I was responsible for the purchase of plumbing fixtures, vanity lighting and tiles. Jerry gave me good advice on where to make these purchases at a reasonable cost. Both were always available if I had a question and their inputs on certain aspects of the remodel were an improvement on my vision. They were easy to work with and I appreciate all that they did to make this bathroom project run very smoothly. Remodeling a kitchen is a pretty major under taking, and was quite an investment for us, so we…read morewanted to go with someone we felt confident with, and after our first meeting with Jerry and Issac, (a meeting totally set around our schedule, btw) we felt like a team. Often, with contractors, after everything is signed you never see the owners again. Not the case with PPB, the owners, and project manager were there everyday, checking in, and documenting the progress. Speaking of progress, our full-kitchen remodel was finished 4 weeks ahead of schedule, and included many cool features and ideas they included in the design. PPB also greatly minimized the pain-in the butt that goes with having major construction done about ten feet from your bedroom. They sectioned off the entire work area with double sided tarp, and had lock box, so we had a lot of privacy and relatively little dust through out the job, (and left the place every night way cleaner than it was before we hired them). This kind of endeavor is never easy, there's always problems, and they handled all of them with ease and grace. (At least on our end) In fact for us, that's one of the best qualities about PPB is that they soak up all the headaches involved in a project of this scope; permits, inspections, a multitude of (borderline unreasonable) requests from their clients, all taken care of with a "no problem" attitude. And our kitchen looks better than we ever imagined. Highly recommend.

It was a pretty big job and was kind of expecting it to be a hassle based on past experiences I've had with other contractors, but this one actually went super smooth start to finish. From the first visit they gave off a solid vibe. Straightforward about what would be done and what kind of timeline to expect. I didn't feel like they were trying to upsell or talk in circles like some others do. Once the work started they kept that same energy. showed up when they said they would and stayed on track. I've had jobs before where people just vanish for days or don't say anything when things change, but with these guys, I always knew what was happening. Communication was probably one of the best parts. They'd actually check in and give me heads up if something needed a decision or if a delivery was running late. I made a couple last minute changes during the process (moved a light, swapped a fixture, small stuff) and they didn't act like it was a huge issue. they just worked it in and kept moving. no drama. Quality wise everything turned out great. the tile work in the shower is super clean, no uneven edges or grout lines. cabinets lined up perfectly, paint was solid. You can tell they actually care about doing it right. Price wise, they weren't the cheapest quote i got but definitely not the highest either. and after seeing how it all turned out, the value was totally there. no sketchy surprises on the invoice either, which I appreciate. Overall just a really good experience. they made a big renovation feel low stress and everything turned out. Will100% recommended them to a couple friends.

We hired Alex's company to completely renovate our two bathrooms (an ensuite and a hallway bath)…read more VERY satisfied with the work he and his team did for us, taking two very outdated and ugly spaces and making them beautiful and 100% more enjoyable. The project was largely cosmetic -- no relocation of plumbing aside from the shower pipes in the master -- but we did remove everything and replace it new. I was responsible for purchasing most fixtures (vanities, mirrors, lighting, faucets, etc) while Alex showed me available finishes (tile) at his showroom over on the eastside and brought those to the jobsite. While it was daunting searching all of the internet for those elements, I did like having that level of control with the design. Keep that in mind, though, if you are NOT comfortable making styling decisions. Alex communicated so well with me and my husband and among his subcontractors too. We were never surprised by a schedule change or an unexpected absence. Julia, who runs the office, also was quick about making updates to paperwork and replying to my questions. Compared to other bids for the project, Alex's pricing was the most competitive and I feel totally satisfied with the value we paid. Without a doubt will ask him to bid on our next big remodel. Ultimately our projects ended on time: one full month from start to finish. Although the first half of the reno ran a little long, Alex and his team made up time with the second half to meet the firm deadline (houseguests).

He wrote a time and materials contract, but we told…read morehim we had a pretty tight budget for our tub remodel and he said he thought we could do the work within the dollar amount we gave him. He was very slow and ran us way over budget (he essentially billed us 89.00 per hour to put in tile, and he seriously billed us for 48 hours of tile work to put in 45 pieces of 12x24 tile). When we would ask for estimates to finish, he gave an estimate, and then took twice as long as his estimate. When we confronted him, he literally said, it's time and materials, it is what it is. We finally had him stop work when he was close to 50% over our original estimate (and he STILL wasn't finished). The final quality of work was so bad, we had to hire a new contractor and have all the tile torn out and start over. Be careful!

Only several months after they installed the bathtub, the caulking they used around the tub cracked and disintegrated. And, I learned today from a plumber that the bathtub itself was not put in properly-- they did not use a mortar bed! This is one of many examples of the corner cutting and sloppy work from Marin VIP Builders. I waited too long to file a complaint with the Oregon CCB. My advice: look elsewhere for your contractor.

Additionally, we were replacing all of our fresh water lines to and in the house. I would have given Jim and Double J ten stars had Yelp allowed me to do that! I have never had a better contracting experience than I had with Double J! Our plumber doing the repiping recommended Double J for the remodel work. Prior to the beginning of work, Jim gave us a spreadsheet detailing what would be done by who and when. Throughout the work, he communicated with us frequently advising us what was happening and what would be done next. He worked with us all the way through, helping us make the necessary decisions that we needed to make and purchase the things that we agreed to purchase. Jim works with a group of small, family owned subcontractors who have the same work ethic as Jim. They all were fantastic. The work was great, finished on time and in budget. Outstanding Customer Service Issue: We purchased an old…read morehouse in SE Portland in 2014. For several years we aspired to have the unfinished basement made into a great usable space. Our goals included the following: 1. An additional bedroom 2. additional bathroom 3.laundary room 4.Shop/storage room 5. utility/storage room 6.Family room. Other issues included taking out a chimney that was only serving as a vent for a 20-year-old water heater and a 30-year-old furnace. The chimney was taking up space in the basement that we wanted to use. In July of 2018, we decided to go forward with our goal! Research: We asked four different companies/ contractors for estimates on our project as well as ideas. Three of the four gave us astronomical quotes with nothing more than a walkthrough of our home. We then spoke with Jeremy Rosenbloom with 360 Homecare. He walked through our home with his project manager Dean. My wife and I explained, in detail, what our ideas were. They took the time to listen and understand our needs and possibilities. They provided feedback on things that we didn't know we didn't know. We had about a 30' x 30' basement and were fortunate to have approximately 8-foot high ceilings. other than that it was a dimly lit concrete basement with a few posts and beams. Jeremy gave us several different references from previous clients' basement finishing projects to check with before signing any contracts. My son and I visited three of them and were very impressed! 360 HOMECARE LLC: After Jeremy & Dean initially walked through our basement we agreed to go forward with a feasibility study. The feasibility study included water lead testing, asbestos testing from 15 different places in our house and a re-test of our radon mitigation system. I was impressed with the due diligence. There was a fee for this service but it alleviated any surprise possibilities in the whole of this project. In the long-run, paying for the feasibility study upfront alleviated many possible surprises or extra costs during the project. Our house is 100+ years old and subject to many of these types of problems. There is a ton of value in knowing about these issues before signing a contract! Jeremy and Dean came up with three different options for a layout of the space. We chose one and they were easily able to modify it slightly for our needs. I had done the seismic upgrade myself beforehand as well as a required egress window for the basement. Quote: The initial quote included everything we saw on Pinterest that we thought would be cool. As it turns out they were fairly expensive. Jeremy had taken the time to meticulously itemize all material and labor costs and presented it to us like a menu. We had no idea what construction costs would be so when we saw the initial quote wondered what changes we could make to cut costs. Jeremy worked with us for options and we came up with a quote that was in our budget! An example of these cost reduction measures included the following: 1. Painting subcontractor- we painted. 2. Polished concrete instead of fancy tile. 3. DIY Insulation. We are a little handy, and that saved us money! Process and Sub Contractors: The process and timeline were an estimated six months. This schedule was kept up to date and updated regularly via a shared google calendar between Jeremy and us. There were no surprises as to what was happening each day of the project or what sub-contractor was going to be in our house. All of the Sub-contractors were local businesses, the professional had courteous employees, and was on time every day that our project was going on. Jeremy, and all contractors, took special precautions to mitigate dust, debris, and fumes from our home. We have two young kids and were living in the house during this project, so that was extremely important to us. Final Product/ Conclusion: With 360 Homecare LLC, we accomplished all of our goals. We could not be happier with the outstanding customer service we received working with 360 Homecare LLC! The project was on time, within our agreed-upon budget, and the communication throughout the process was outstanding! Jeremy was quick to answer calls, emails and text messages to clarify questions we had as well as provide info on different parts of the process as they were unfolding. Additionally, Jeremy's meticulous record-keeping assisted us on our taxes. There were federal tax credits available for appliance upgrades and the model numbers provided in his documentation put money in our pockets at tax time! Our project was to create a comfortable and inviting guest suite and also to have a storage area and laundry. To give you a sense of the scope of the work: we had a seismic retrofit, waterproofing (French drains and dry wells), new water line, tiling, electricals, lighting, painting, the installation of a gas fireplace, custom cabinets and countertops, kitchenette, plumbing, whole house water filtration system, eucalyptus hardwood flooring, ducting and new air conditioning, a new egress window with a custom poured concrete tiered window well, insulation and new windows. So, basically, everything from scratch! The team were able to realize the ideas that I had in my head and come up with great solutions that all really came together to look beautiful. Ryan was very receptive to all the little details that were important to us and he was enthusiastic about getting them right. It's clear to me that he and the whole team understand the importance of the little things that make a big impact and for that I'm deeply appreciative of all of their efforts. When some unexpected things came up (for example, it was discovered that we had rotted footings on our support columns and also that a previous owner had removed a section of support beam(!)), costs and time to repair these things were very reasonable, the work was top notch and the solutions were creative and clever. During the project we wanted a few extra things added and Ryan and the team were very flexible about making these things happen. I have been a professional tradesperson for 50 years. I was recently hired by a client to…read morerepresent them in remedying the defective work performed by Catalyst Construction. The quality of their work, their construction knowledge and professionalism are nothing short of ABYSMAL. I contacted Ryan Klobas (the owner) with regards to his defective and delinquent work. I threated to contact the Builders Board to motivate him to show up. His response? He said that "PEOPLE ALWAYS TRY TO TAKE HIM TO THE BUILDERS BOARD, BUT IT NEVER WORKS," and then promptly contacted his attorney (who sent us a patronizing letter) instead of showing up to the job site (something he NEVER did) to remedy the situation. He bullied my female client (a mother of an infant). HE TOOK 14 MONTHS TO INSTALL 2 WINDOWS! It wasn't until I began proceedings with the CCB that Ryan finally agreed to complete (or attempt to) complete the project. I had to dry plans on his behalf (he did not seem to know how) to show him how to do a simple window installation. I specified the use of proper materials, as he had not educated himself on this common trade knowledge. I forced him to get permits and engineering for the structural damage he had done to the residence. He lied to my client, telling them that permits were "optional." HE USES A CHAINSAW AND A SLEDGEHAMMER (literally) to cut ROUGH openings into structural concrete walls. He installed his windows exactly backwards. He dug huge holes in the yard, leaving them all winter to fill up with water, which migrated into the house. He does not know how to caulk properly. He used finger-jointed (garbage) lumber, which disintegrated in 2 months time. There is not one aspect of construction, neither in the use of materials or in standard construction orthodoxy, that Ryan knows how to implement. He makes things and systems up in his head, uses materials against their intended purposes, then writes a letter telling my client that he is "innovative" by doing so, and that my client is "crazy" for suggesting otherwise. All of Ryans' employees who visited the site, refer to Ryan as "an idiot" and "a bully." One employee told me that he gotten abused by Ryan because Ryan hadn't given him the plans (which we provided) for the project. Ryan told his employee that he should "LIE TO THE CLIENT TO PROTECT THE COMPANY." Every one of his employees who attempted doing their mis-guided work on my client's house, ended up quitting, because of the way Ryan mistreated them and his clients. I am not sure where the positive reviews have come from, but I suspect they are fake. My female client was literally afraid for her safety. She experienced Ryan as DANGEROUS. DO NOT HIRE THIS GUY.
