I been coming here for many years since I was a kid. Don't expect a fancy looking steak if you get the choice steak but it does taste good for the price you pay. Omg. This place never disappoints. A little old school restaurant but they know how to do a steak. The super stockyard is their signature steak. Hint, order it butterflies and med or rare. Fantastic! Also don't forget their house made strawberry lemonade! Got the onion rings fkr appetizer and they were huge. I was really looking forward to a ribeye steak and I ordered it medium rare. Sadly, it came out completely raw. You have to get Jordan!! Guy knows his stuff and was just a pleasure to be around. He was prompt and helped with any questions. The man is a Magician one minute you got a dirty plate then minute it's gone. The mac & cheese is a must. If you like craft mac & cheese that's pretty much it, It's like your mama made it for you back in kindergarden. Steak was also great. Put a A1 sauce on there and you got yourself a great looking dinner. Also, don't get me started on the ranch and the cherry Pepsi. OH MY GOSH !! This place is so delish !! first time here and i got the stake with shrimp ! the portions were delish, the stake had a nice sear on top. The shrimp nice and crispy and paired well with the cocktail sauce. Our server was a light colored eye lady. She was super quick and attentive. I'll def be there again. I've been dying to try this place ever since I moved to MoVal. My husband finally got the hint and we went for a date night dinner. It's definitely got a rustic feel, but I can see why it's been around over 40 years. The service was not on their A game to start. There was a large party and it took a bit for the servers to be assigned. I just called it a fluke. I doubt this is a common occurrence. Once we were seated and met our waitress she was a ray of sunshine. She checked on us frequently and made some fabulous recommendations. My husband ordered steak with his two sides being chili bean soup and vegetables. I ordered steak and ribs with my two sides being a green salad and a loaded baked potato. Everything was incredibly delicious. And for the price? It was a steal. I was the only one with leftovers and they were delicious even the next day. Dropped by for a birthday luncheon and I have been wanting to stop in for a while to see what they had to offer. I'm so glad I finally made it! My daughter had the Ribeye and I had the Stockyard steak, we shared the potato skins and chili. I plan to visit again! Our host was friendly and checked in on us frequently, she made sure the food tasted good to us and offered to refill our drinks. The dining area is spacious with many tables/booths available throughout the restaurant. The surrounding gave off a very country feel with the wood furniture and decor. Each time we waited for her we saw her lounged in the kitchen laughing with her coworkers and when we asked a passerby server to see if she was coming back with steak sauce, she came back and apologize and said she forgot.. this was twice in a row. I paid for the 1 LB super stockyard and was served something less and still paid that super stockyard price. Not sure if she got our orders mixed up with my other guests at my table but this will probably be my last time coming to Steer'NStein MoVal. Used to go to the one in Rancho but they closed down. I wish I could give negative stars ... I have been a weekly customer at Steer N Stein in Moreno Valley since July 2025. Every Friday when they open, I purchase two Super Stockyard steaks, medium rare, for my elderly mother who is seriously ill and struggling to maintain weight. Steak is one of the few foods she can tolerate, so this has been a consistent weekly purchase for months. We spend about $68 every single week and have supported this restaurant faithfully. In all that time, I have never asked for a refund or special treatment, only that the food be cooked correctly. Tonight, both steaks I purchased were completely raw when we cut into them at home. I called the restaurant and was told to drive 45 minutes back so they could remake them. Staff refused to connect me with a manager and made it clear they would only replace the steaks. I called ahead as instructed before returning, yet when I arrived the order was not ready. After waiting again, two replacement steaks were brought out , and one was still extremely undercooked. While calmly explaining my frustration after now making two trips and waiting nearly an hour total, an older man who identified himself as the owner came out aggressively and immediately began yelling at me. Instead of apologizing or attempting to resolve the situation, he accused me of costing him money, despite the fact that I have spent hundreds of dollars there as a loyal weekly customer and have never once requested compensation. He raised his voice at me and my daughter in front of other customers, behaved in an intimidating and completely unprofessional manner, and then told us we were banned from ever returning. Being screamed at and banned for asking that food simply be cooked properly is unacceptable. Mistakes happen in restaurants; hostile and disrespectful treatment from ownership should never happen. After months of loyalty and supporting this business while caring for a sick parent, this experience was shocking, humiliating, and deeply disappointing. The food issue could have been fixed easily. The owner's behavior is what lost a long-time customer. I will never return and cannot recommend this establishment based on how customers are treated when something goes wrong. read more

The food NEVER disappoints. Great quality, choices, and seasoning is perfect It never seems to be busy, there is never a wait to be seated. The staff are friendly. Not above and beyond but not horrible. The only thing I want to point out is that there is always a smell that I can't pinpoint. It's like a cleaning product over a musty odor at the entry area. We came here today for dinner around 5:30 pm on a Friday evening. It wasn't too busy. I had a Sirloin Steak and asked for it to be cooked medium well. It was well done on the outside & the inside was a little pink. It was okay. I had the chili & baked potato with sour cream & chives for my sides. I wasn't very impressed with the service as we had to keep asking for additional things. I disliked the zucchini fries, they were crunchy & crispy on the outside & undercooked on the inside. After 30+ years, we have never had a bad steak at Steer'n Stein. In fact the steaks are always excellent. They are cooked just as you request them, tender, and juicy. Not only are the steaks great but the grilled cod, ribs, salads, appetizers, in fact everything I've tried have been perfect. The service is outstanding and we've never had a long wait, which is always a plus. My in-laws come all the way from Orange County to eat with us at Steer'n Stein. We were here for a going away party for one of our friends, who has worked at March ARB for a long time; hubby used to work him. We were in a big room but still not big enough to accommodate the huge party! My husband and I arrived at 11:11 AM and they were still closed although they list their hours at opening at 11:00 AM. Luckily, a waitress let us in and knew we were there for a reserved party for our friend. They really need to air out the building because it smelled really stale and of bleach. Our food was really tasty & filling. They were only 2 servers for approximately a group of 30-35 people, so we never got refills on our drinks nor did they check up on us. At least their food was an improvement from last time and no sewer smell! Highly doubt we will return unless it's a retirement or going away. The ribs were good for oven ribs. Meh: bacon burger was dryyyyyyy and there should not be a charge for a loaded potato. We went there with 3 family members and was expecting a little better food. The ribs were salty...the mash potatoes and rice were barely warm( which having been set at a table right next to the kitchen was a disappointment.) My brother was in a wheelchair and we were out at a small table that ended up not being able to have my brother( my twin..both of us over 65 needing to sit at a small table next to us, which made communication difficult. This was my wifes and my wedding anniversary...and our adult daughters birthday (born 2 yrs after we were married ..on the date we were married. All in all, I found the service to be very friendly and prompt and the waitresses were on point in terms of responding to the needs of our group. The meal came with two sides so I got a nice green salad and fries for my second side. #1 The steak was super tender and cooked perfectly. #2 the chicken was melt in your mouth tender and the teriyaki was really tasty #3 the grilled shrimp were quite large and cooked very well..... had a nice flavor too. #4 and this is really the only reason for FOUR stars instead of FIVE- the baby back ribs were literally ice cold..... Very strange because everything else was on point! Nice and hot, super tender, very flavorful but, the ribs?? I understand when serving large groups, things might be heading towards room temp a lil quicker but this was like they just came out of the fridge. I had seen other reviews pointing out this scenario also but was hoping it wouldn't happen..... it did. Over all, we had a nice time, really enjoyed the vast majority of the food and was impressed by the great service provided.
