    New York Strip

Went to Steak & Vine for dinner recently and wow this place was incredible. The moment I walked in, it smelled amazing, It's kind of fancy, but not in a way that makes you feel out of place. I ordered the New York Strip (medium) with mashed potatoes. The steak had a nice char on the outside and juicy on the inside. Super flavorful, I didn't need any sauce or anything, it was that good on its own. The mashed potatoes were bomb too. Creamy, buttery, and I think there was a little garlic in there? Either way, I ate every bite. Our server was great, super friendly and the vibe the whole time was just really relaxed. You could definitely come here for a date night. We left full, happy, and already planning to come back.

What a surprisingly great experience! Met friends for dinner and each of us went with their restaurant week special. For $45 it included choice of first course I had the wedge salad with blue cheese dressing, stuffed dates and lobster bisque were enjoyed by my friends. Monday is 1/2 price wines for bottles $100 or less. We had a lovely Cabernet from Orwin Swift, followed by the Parmesan crusted Mahi on a bed of roasted vegetables and a brownie sundae. Got pictures of our first course but couldn't wait to try the mahi or desert. I can't wait to come back another night to try some of their other menu items. If you're in the neighborhood or even if you're not head over for a nice meal at Steak & Vine.

Little gem in La Grange!! Tasty food, kind staff and welcoming atmosphere. They most definitely earned the recommendation.

We went here for restaurant week and everything blew us away! If you are in downtown LaGrange and are you looking for a knock your socks off restaurant, well you found it. Some steakhouses cannot cook a steak better than you can at home, well steak and vine will prove you wrong. Done to perfection, and just they way you like it. Not only the steak, you can't pass up the baked cheese or dessert! I wish I knew about this restaurant a while back, but know that I will be coming back for some amazing food next time in town.

Stopped in during the week after shopping close by. The place was a ghost town. We were the only people sitting in the bar area and 3 tables in the back. Food was okay. Bread tasted a bit stale. Two items we liked the most were the Bacon Wrapped Dates and the Brussel sprouts. The steak special (2 4oz filets) was Nothing special. Our server was very nice and friendly. They also have a great bourbon selection. Not sure we'll be back though.

I'll start with the service, which was impeccable. The manager himself helped us rearrange tables outside and even brought out a high chair for our little one. Jen, our server, was polite, knowledgeable, and very attentive. She came out and checked in on us several times during the meal, and we felt her warmth. She was great. The actual food was slightly underwhelming. If you think about restaurants along the BNSF line near the train station - Foxtail (Downers Grove), Vie (Western Springs) and others, this was priced similarly but the food wasn't quite there. Nothing we ordered really stood out as WE HAVE TO COME BACK and I thought some of the preparation was a bit more on the unrefined side. More like good tavern food instead of fine dining, with decent flavors but nothing super special. We felt they used good ingredients. The Wagyu was cooked to a medium well and the mashed potatoes weren't super well-mashed, and the shrimp and grits felt a bit sloppy and too soupy for shrimp and grits. But the quality of the meat, size of the shrimp we got, all of that was great. Thank you!

Ask the Community - Steak + Vine

Are all the tables high tops? That’s what it looks like when I look in the window. High top tables are not comfortable for me. Believe it or not, all high top tables would be a deal breaker for me.

No, just in the front. When you walk past the bar area, there are regular tables in the back, so that's where my husband, myself and our daughter sat.

Are the servings large? Will I have leftovers? I am a light eater.

Reviews were good so we came in on a Monday evening. The interior is so cute! Velvety comfy green chairs at the wine bar, smaller lounge tables and couches in the rest of the place. There is a separate room for gaming. We sat at the bar and were warmly greeted by Aria L. She was so courteous and helpful, offering us suggestions on the wines and snacks. They have a great happy hour from 4-7p for $20 wine bottle which is fantastic. The house white was good, although they ran out after a glass and I went for the Simi sauvignon blanc which was so good. The parmesan truffle fries are a MUST. Just $8.99 for a nice sized bowl of crisp, tasty fries with fresh parmesan shaved on top. MM! I had the 12" cheese lovers pizza which had burrata cheese on top oh my GOSH that is gooooood. It's rich so I had plenty of leftovers for the next day. My friend got the 12" Diavola pizza which she loved. My other friend got the Italian panini ($13.99) which he said he was not that crazy about, but he did enjoy the atmosphere and the Guiness. It is a chill place to have a nice conversation without having to compete with loud music or chatter. We are planning to revisit the next time I am here, this was a very enjoyable evening.

Mattone has a pretty standard menu of Italian food like spaghetti. A lot of the familiar. The flavors may not be as good as they used to be so just know that and it will seem like better quality. Certainly the happy hour is the best time to come. It's expensive already so save a few bucks and it makes things quite an improvement. There's a lot of what to expect on the menu. Cocktails and pasta of course. They took forever taking everyone's order and then there was even more waiting. It's about $12 for the cheapest cocktails. They have a few bucks off martinis at the happy hour thankfully. A serious lack of vegetarian choices. There's even salads covered in bacon and pancetta. Has a few weekly specials to check out. It's $20 for the classics specials on Thursdays. Among the options are lasagna and spaghetti. This also comes with a choice of soup so you get lots with this. Actually a pretty filling meal. They can make the spaghetti without meatballs and stuff. Got to say it gets busy. It's only open in evenings. There's limited options for vegetarians.

It was 5:45, I didn't have a reservation, a they didn't have a table available until 7:30 but there were spots at the bar which they said was full service. My friend and I cozied up to it and ate there. What a surprisingly good experience. The staff was super friendly and that bartenders had great suggestions. I hate when people at the restaurant say everything is good. Not these young ladies. They made some sound suggestions which we followed. French onion soup and the steak frites were both excellent and priced well IMO. They have a really good whiskey/bourbon selection with a few hard to find bottles. I settled on a Blantons neat. They had Pappy, but I'm not wasting money on that anymore. Food came out quickly and we ate and watched a baseball game. The locals at the bar told us about their membership program where I guess for a small mo they fee you get a bottle of wine and a charcuterie plate once a month. Seemed like a pretty good deal. I don't live anywhere near there, but if I did I'd certainly join. In any case, if you live anywhere close, this is definitely a worthwhile restaurant to visit. Seems like there were quite a few singles there as well if you are looking to meet someone. I have no idea what the dating scene is like in Lemont, but this might be a good spot to try.
