Had a good time here, we were here a bit after opening and sat outside, nice little patio area. I will admit that all the blue in the bar can be on the over the top side, but hey it's their theme. Service was very good, if you're on the patio you go in and order your drink and they bring it out, when it gets busier you'll have to just wait on it or go back for it, not a big deal and I can see how it would be hard for the the bartender to run back and forth and keep up with everyone. The menu is more than three pages of martini's lots of options, the bartender told me, if you're not into sweet, stick with the classics, I'll remember that for my next visit. There's beer too, in case you're not into the martini thing. The drinks do pack a punch, so plan on having a couple, it's not a place that you'll be all night drinking away, if so, ride service is your friend, also bring a friend to steady you. Another thing to bring is something to munch on, I brought a couple of pizza slices one for each of us and my friend brought some side salads, I also brought a couple of plastic plates. They don't mind if you bring food, but you need your own setup. Quirky place, good drinks, seashells on the bar...just go with it. read more

I'm a little torn on this one. It's more like a 3.5 star rating that I would like to give, and here's why... Martini dive bar? LOVE the idea and concept. We live in the neighborhood and have been meaning to try this place for years now, and last night we did. We got there around 9:00, and they were busy, but not too busy. I wanted a Lemon Drop martini, but didn't see one on their expansive menu, so I asked the bartender. I was curtly told "A Lemon Drop is a shot, not a martini. You can have a Lemontini." Uhm, ok, but I beg to differ, as I have ordered Lemon Drop Martinis in numerous restaurants and cocktail lounges. Even so, he could have said, "We offer a Lemontini, which is very similar". I felt his tone was aggressive and not a great first experience with Blue Water Lounge. Boo. Secondly, the ENTIRE place reeked of weed. Seriously. It smelled like someone was smoking pot right next to us. I scanned the bar and saw nothing, but the pot smell was overwhelming. Now, I understand that they can't control what their patrons may do in the parking lot or before arriving, but it was nasty. Another boo. The decor was a little "visually assaulting", but after two of their drinks, you just don't care. But then again it is a Dive bar (I use that term with love). I love to support quirky, independent businesses, and Blue Water Lounge is just that. The drinks were good and very fairly priced. I just think we need to stop back another time and see if we can meet one of the nice friendly bartenders I've read about. read more

I gotta say that I was very pleasantly surprised with this place. They have a gigantic martini menu that is pretty much guaranteed to have something that you like. However, the service was exceptional. I wasn't expecting to be made to feel so at home here. From the extremely friendly and knowledgeable bartender, Jorge, to the owner, Gregg, who loves to talk and mingle with his customers; you can see and feel how much pride they take in their bar and in serving their customers. Gotta love Blue Water. Great Martini bar on 31st in Brookfield. I would recommend starting your evening at Blue Water. The martini's are big. Standard martini's are 6oz and I think they serve 10oz ones here. Hence the $13-$15 price tag. So if you have been out all night and have one of these tasty creations on the way home, beware. I lived in Downtown Chicago for a handful of years and became a huge martini fan. For Mother's Day, my son, daughter and daughter-in-law took me out for dinner and then a martini at Blue Water. OMFG ~ the liquor is quality liquor. The imaginative variety is A-MA-ZING. I had a swedish fish Martini and it was excellent. It even had a swedish fish on the bottom. It is a bit pricy.....$13.00 for a Martini.....but you get what you pay for in my book and I paid for quality and I received it. What I really liked about Blue Water is that I can go there with my kids. It's not just a young peoples place with loud music nor is it a "old people's place" with Dean Martin tunes spinning. I am a frequent visitor to this establishment, but recently took a friend to this restaurant raving about the customer service and food, and had an awful experience. Food as always was amazing (5 stars), but there was one server that was very racist to my friend and I. The server (young, tall with medium/long brown hair, fair skin) was going down the line asking customers if they had parked their black car illegally behind the restaurant. We were probably the 4th or 5th person in line, and came up to us asked the same question, but quickly stopped and stated "it can't be your guys' car because it is a black Mercedes." My friend and I are of color and were very appalled. I am a professional woman of color who frequently dines at Bluewater and have never experienced such racist remarks / micro-aggression. I will no longer dine at this establishment or recommend anyone to eat here because of the servers remarks. read more

The martinis here are amazing! They offer so many options that the menu can be a little overwhelming. I asked the bartender for a suggestion and decided on the Swedish Fish martini. It seriously tasted like the candy. Sweet, but not too sweet, and just strong enough. The Swedish fish in the bottom of the glass were a nice touch. My friends' drinks were also delicious. The bartenders had a little extra from each drink and offered it to us so that we could try each other's drinks. I loved that! Now I know what I will order next time, the white gummy bear! I also sampled the bloody marytini (good and spicy!) and a slushie type drink called the brain freeze. I will definitely come back here if I'm in the area. The bartenders were friendly and the vibe inside was small and intimate. It would be a great place for a date night. There is also an outdoor patio which was cute and quiet. read more

I haven't been able to find a comparable martini bar anywhere in CA or MI. This place is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Two of my top favorites are the cucumber and pearl necklace. The Blue Water is fun fun fun place, it's really small, has these great fake flame torch type sconces and has wonderful service. The bar is owned and operated by same owner of the flower shop next door and his daughter is frequently serving and the bar. It's a great place and on some weeknights they have great deals. The parking log is sort of small so you might have to park on the street, so make sure you read the signs posted on the street. GO to the Blue Water... but watch out their drinks are POTENT!!! read more

As far as Martinis go, Blue Water has no equal. I have been to a number of upscale martini bars in downtown Chicago, but none of them have as good of a Martini as Blue Water. Their selection is vast and the quality of ingredients is high. I would recommend a trip there to anyone looking for a high quality Martini (Frankie G's is my personal favorite). Other pluses: The staff and general vibe of the place is fun and friendly. They have a nice outdoor patio. Cool lighting. Downside: The place is small; a little cramped. read more

If you like martinis this is honestly the best place ive found anywhere in the city or out of it. It is a really really small place, but for its size it is pretty nice. Its a neighborhood type of place for more of a late twenty young thirty something crowd. The martinis are around 10 bucks each or so which is comprable to other martini bars, but the reason that they get 5 stars from me is their selection. Blue water has been fun the two times I went there. The first time was on a week night a few years back and then had drink specials and free food. They set out chips and guacamole and the guac was good! but that may have been a random thing so back to the review... I went back a few months ago and it was very crowded for the small but I was glad to see that in Brookfield. They have a very large drink menu and the three drinks I had were all good but they were pricey. I think they were about $13 which is fine at Suite Lounge but in Brookfield it seemed surprising. Although I can say I think they use a large glass than the standard size so that's a plus. Check it out. read more

The martinis here are amazing. I mean it, they're fantastic! I haven't yet had one that's not been just utterly delicious. Which is good because they are expensive. When I say they're expensive what I mean is that your jaw will hit the floor the first time you get your bill. It isn't like you wouldn't pay the same amount downtown, but that's the point... it's not downtown. It's a tiny little place down the street from the Zoo. There's no other bars nearby. I would have never gone there if it hadn't been that it's literally stumbling distance form the BF's parents house. Every single one of those tropical, fruity delights is about 5 dollars over priced. They are a bit on the pricier side so if you're looking to keep your tab on a budget, best stick to the pubs down the road. This is a place to go when you're looking for fun atmosphere and friendly bartenders. It's best to stop in on a warm night so as to experience the outdoor patio. The inside room tends to get a bit stuffy given that it can only accommodate what seems like 15 people before the "I need to step out for a smoke even though I don't smoke" feeling sets in. My favorite drink is the Swedish Fish. Who can be in a bad mood when there are little red gummy fish chillin' at the bottom of your glass?
