Holy cow I cannot believe I started my review and forgot to post it! This is from several months ago and it deserves more than 5 stars. This is a GREAT Irish pub with a very cool interior and a beautiful beer garden. The bartender is super nice (I forgot his name but I think it is Shane). My friends and I enjoyed dining outside and having some food. I ordered the grilled fish tacos and mac n cheese bites to share. My friends ordered curry fries. Everything was amazing. I was simply shocked at how good the fish tacos were at an Irish place. I couldn't believe they even had them. They served me three very generous portions of fish wrapped in two corn tortillas each, with some toppings. it also had a little side of seasoned creamy corn, and guac MMMMMM. The curry fries were awesome!!! A big plate of hot fries with a side of the tastiest sauce. the mac n cheese bites were really tasty, but a little goes a long way with me. The bartender brought out the bites and he was apologizing because he spilled the sauce all over them. So he brought us out another order of bites which was unnecessary but very nice of him. there are beautiful flowers and green foliage on the patio and comfortable seating. If I could give 0 stars I would. I've never felt so disrespected in a bar before in my life. I walked in sat for about 5 minutes and used the restroom came back and tried to get a drink and was straight up ignored and pointed at with a finger TO SIT DOWN from JULIE when I asked for drinks another 10 minutes after sitting down. I could understand if it was was busy however the bar was not busy at all maybe 4 people at the bar top and 2 tables. Is a conversation ever so important to ignore customers? But....I ordered the Daniel grilled cheese They need to rename it anything but a grill cheese I thought this would be a safe bet. Very disappointed. There was 1 thin small piece of cheese. She was excited to go to Ryan's to sit at a table get a drink and eat some food after the test. She sat at a table with no service for about 5 minutes and got up to get a server when she went back to the table someone had sat down and she went and told the manager who said "well that's too bad we'd rather have a table of 4 people instead of you" kind of rude if you ask me. So she decided to sit at the bar, no service for about 10 minutes so she decided to leave, get Culver's and sit in her car alone and eat. I really enjoy coming here, great atmosphere and drinks. It's a place that has regulars but the occasional guest feels right at home. I started with a delicious Bloody and my husband had Guinness. Of course the soup was out of this world, pepper with Gouda. All of their soups are made from scratch. I wasn't sure what I had a taste for so the bartender recommended the Philly Steak Sandwich. Pretty typical dive bar with Irish themed food and drink. Top shelf whiskey is 12 year glenlivet. Got some local brews on tap. Food is fairly average better than The Irish Times which is your other option for local Irish fare but that place is garbage. I had the Shepard's pie which was good but had terrible ground beef which was really unseasoned. I would not recommend this place for people of color. I was served food by a guy in a border patrol hat and there were several other racist remarks made around me. read more

This Brookfield establishment is fabulous!They have operating fireplaces which are great during the winter, especially when Santa visits. The beer garden is quaint, but useful during the spring and summer months. Some old school rock music they play also works for me! I adore their game options, as it's fun to drink and play!! Recently made my way back to this local pub and I forgot the charm that it has along with the coziness it brings when walking into it. Love the fact that he feels like home a soon as you walk in. With the Irish folk music playing in the background as you walk in, the classic tin roof ceiling along with the old Wooden bar and that classic old style bob feel, do you know you're in for something good! We wanted to get the fish and chips because of Lent and they delivered big-time! Ordered their spinach dip along with the red pepper soup as appetizers and I have to say that is one of the best I've ever had! Now I have to say that sitting in a high top table, is not A good choice when ordering fish and chips, given the size of the table however, he gives you a good view of the establishment itself! Will make it a point to come back here more often as this joint has a classic neighborhood feel which can't be beaten! When I'm in Brookfield, I always stop at Ryan's. My dad owns a repair shop next door, so it's always a favorite when I'm in the area. We decided to stop in one afternoon after checking in on the shop. It was a warm afternoon, so a cold one was in order. Ryan's is a warm cozy place for great beer and exceptional food. We stopped in and took a seat at the bar. We were immediately Served with an ice cold beer of our choice. On tap, of course. Ryan's offers a wide selection of swill and craft beer. We always choose the craft beer, as we actually have tastebuds and appreciation for a good beer. As we settled in, we decided to order up some food. We started with the corned beef bites. If you've never been to Ryan's, you must start off with the corned beef bites. Tender and tasty corned beef served on marbled rye bread with melty cheese and a side of horseradish sauce. They're bursting with flavor and melt in your mouth. After another beer, ordered a second order. Their corned beef is hands down, the best in the area. Service here is excellent and the bar tender is always happy to engage in conversation. Your glass will never go empty here. They have a cozy, private beer garden out back if you like sitting outside. Normally, we would sit out there, but it was too hot for that. I know I came to this bar once, maybe 5 years or more ago, and I'm glad I've returned. I can guarantee I won't wait another 5 years to go back again! We came in on a Saturday afternoon for some lunch and a beer. We sat at the bar as to not compromise service (it was pretty empty, we didn't want to make the bartender do extra work for us). The bartender was a really nice guy, and gave the perfect amount of attentiveness. He provided us with a beer and food menus, and I always appreciate when a bar actually has a beer list. The only reason this place lost a star for me was because what was on the bottle list wasn't accurate to their actual inventory- my first choice wasn't available, and my guy found a craft beer later in the fridges that wasn't on the menu. If you're indecisive, as I can be, I really get thrown for a loop when my choice isn't available. Otherwise, the experience was great- all beer served was perfectly chilled! Beer prices were on point and reasonable. This place is definitely Irish- they have Guinness, Smithwicks, and Kilkenny(?) Irish red ale on tap and a solid collection of Irish Whiskeys to choose from (along with all the regular American one's too). I'll have to see if they make an Irish Mule next time! We ordered lunch- I had the turkey club with chips, my guy had a chicken sandwich with fries. My food portion was HUGE!! The sandwich was a double decker, and had a good balance of ingredients- turkey, bacon, avocado, mayo, cheese.... YUM! I could only eat half. The chips were warm and seemingly house made, and not greasy. They needed a bit of salt, which was no biggie. I took both half the sandwich and half the chips and it was more than enough for a second meal. The best part was the price... $8.50 for two meals! My guy really liked his chicken sandwich too. They use a thinner cutlet for the meat, which he really enjoyed. I tried one of his fries and liked them too. This place is welcoming to families (during the day, at least) and I saw a variety of ages come through for lunch that day. It was nice to see! We had a nice experience here. I think the total damage for 4 beers and two meals was around $42 or so, which didn't feel bad at all. We will be back! read more

But I was pleasantly surprised when I stepped inside: it's warm and inviting like a pub should be. Do come here to have a couple of beers by the fireplace and watch football with your friends.... Wow...is it really me writing that?!?!? Well it's not precisely my kind of trip but if it's yours Ryan's is definitely a good place to take it easy on a Sunday afternoon. Skip the food though - nothing is really worth it unless you cannot fathom having a beer without munching on anything. I stopped by this place by chance last night and I really loved it here. So I came back to this bar tonight, only to be disappointed by their jukebox. Don't bother with it because it will steal your money. I payed for a few Rolling Stones songs and after an hour of waiting I never heard them played. I went back to the jukebox thinking there may have been a mistake and payed for four songs, to be played before a line of songs, but by the time the jukebox played them was time for me to leave. I really want to believe that maybe I had some bad luck and maybe jukeboxes in Illinois bars are bad, but I would have rather spent that money on the bar and not their jukebox. One of my fav's. Great super-cold tap selection. Good bottled beer selection as well. Food is wonderful (though after 11 pm or so, the appetizers tend to get overdone). Make sure to order the mashed parsnips and carrots side dish, you will relive your childhood (well, if you're over 40). Atmosphere is 100% Irish Pub (having been to Ireland last year, I can say that). Long place with extra bathrooms and seating rooms in the back (again, like in Ireland). Small patio/smoking area outside. While the patio is nice, it's very narrow and if you don't like cigarette smoke, you won't be able to escape it sitting in the patio. Very lively when there is a entertainment. Lot's of big screens, and when it's not too busy, you can actually hear the game. Bathrooms are small, but clean and well stocked. Wait and Bar Staff are top notch, and can tell you a yarn or two. Don't sit by the main entrance in the winter if you don't want to have to leave your coat on. It's a Massive door and lets in quite the gust of wind when folks enter. The Regulars all come in the side door (at the north end of the bar). In the winter you will always get a warm greeting coming in the side door. If you come in the Main door, expect some dirty looks. Beautiful Fireplace in the center of the seating area, best bet for winter seating. Great internet Jukebox with "Play Next" option. If you go once, you'll be back. read more

First and foremost, some of the best wings around. As someone who used to live not far from Buffalo, this is key. But be aware, they do have two different types of wings that get served under various conditions and specials; they do "well done" well, but the bigger wings are maybe a little heavily breaded for my tastes. The buffalo sauce is solid however - not just heat, but some tang, which a lot of places around here fail to include in their sauce. Beyond that, a real neighborhood bar feel. I live about two and a half miles away - it's hard to find good wings around here - but some of the patrons were walk-ins, on both my visits. Bartenders and patrons alike greet you when you walk in, and are, both, easy to talk with. I say this despite a penchant for being antisocial. I've been to this place a few times and I really like the look of it. A long thin building with a lot of gleaming wood, a fireplace, and a low lighting. We stopped in on Saturday around midnight and the place was practically empty. Our group of eight had no problem putting together two tables and settling in. The waitress was prompt, the Smithwicks yummy, and the music wasn't overly loud. A few of my companions decided to check out the jukebox, and apparently the darn machine didn't play their music, which sucks. Basically I like this place. Ryan's is certainly a solid Irish pub. The man & I were out one summer night & stumbled upon this great find. During the warmer months there is a small, fenced in beer garden. But during the winter I like to settle into a hightop next to the fireplace. They are certainly never overstaffed, but the servers & bartenders are always pleasant, even when they are busy. The food is tasty & they will make modifications (note: they don't serve fish n chips, though). Of course, the beer selection is good & they have pretty good specials, too. Altogether, a cozy establishment with a lot of character. No matter what time of day or night I have strolled in, there are always people in this place! read more

I'm in town on business and decided to visit Ryan's Public House based on Yelp reviews. The food was fantastic, the environment was pleasant, but the service was horrific. Ryan's definitely has a great, authentic Irish pub feel. I ordered the french onion soup and baked tilapia with cheese. The soup was fantastic and very cheesy. The tilapia was served on top of baked red potatoes and a white sauce. The fish was baked perfectly and topped with plenty of melted cheese. The flavors were very good, but I still felt like it was missing something. I just couldn't quite put my finger on what it was. It needed some sort of complimentary flavor. The over abundance of red potatoes were a little overkill. I was only able to east about half of those because the rest of the entree is so filling. It wouldn't be an Irish pub without a great beer selection and Ryan's does have that. They have several items on tap and a nice bottle selection as well. I went to Ryan's in the middle of the day on a Saturday and there were only a few other customers. The only person serving the entire restaurant was the bartender and I can barely call what he was doing "serving". He was mostly distracted by either the TV or his mobile phone to bother with attending to my needs. He then proceeded to disappear in the back room for large chunks of time. I was left without a drink for more than an excusable amount of time considering the number of other patrons. I also had to make a special trip up to the bar to ask for my tab (which distracted the server from his television watching experience), then again to pay the tab after it was delivered to my table five minutes later. However, despite the poor service, the environment and the food was more than enough to give Ryan's a good rating. If you make a trip to Ryan's, just make sure to do so during peak hours when they hopefully have more wait staff to avoid some of the frustrations that I had. read more

I wanted to try this place ever since the owner offered to accommodate my group of friends when she saw the manager at Irish Times being a crab ass towards us because I had my dog on the patio. I finally made it over there last Friday and I'm sorry I waited so long! If you like the Irish pub atmosphere, a cozy fireplace, cider on tap (and of course Guinness), then this is the place. This restored space makes for a fantastic Irish bar. Ryan's is certainly growing on me as a Brookfield favorite. The prices are reasonable and the staff is attentive, not to mention they did a great job re-doing the place. The atmosphere is a bit more upscale than Irish Times, but still warm and down to earth. Ryan's is pretty spacious -- so even when there's a large crowd you've still got enough room to move. Generally, the place is well cared for and clean and the drinks are tasty. What little food I did taste was pretty good - not great, but I only had a bite of something a friend ordered so I can't truly comment on the grub. Unfortunately, the only parking is on the street, but you'll get that along Ogden Avenue in Brookfield. It's a must-go place, even if you don't go back. We went to Ryan's last year, and the distance and competition were the only detractors to returning. Looking to find a place to watch the USA game last Sunday, and having a discount voucher from some online site, we went to Ryan's. We sat at the bar, and ordered drinks and appetizers. The chicken tenders came with hot sauce on the side and were very good. The corned beef bites were ok...basically good corned beef on white toast with Swiss cheese melted on top. But what makes this experience five stars are the great beer and cider choices and the people. Several craft beers (in cans and bottles) were available, and Rosa was on tap! The service was terrific...Amanda was cheerful and efficient with a full bar. The patrons immediately greeted us when we came in, and kept up conversation about the U.S. Team and the U.S. In general. (This truly is an Irish bar....the owner and many of the locals are from Ireland.) Our coupon was honored, no problems, and though the game was a draw, we had a fun Sunday. A very casual, discreet but festive place to eat and drink! Located not too far from the BNSF train line in Brookfield, this is a great place to stop in for some delicious, authentic comfort food cooking. Came here for a friend's birthday gathering and was pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere inside. The place is run by the family and your order may be taken by one of the daughters. Service was a little off but in the wait staff's defense there were about 10 of us ordering alcohol and entrees. The beer selection was great, they even offer a cheap PBR and pitchers. Food: A must to order is the corn beef bites! These bite size pieces of salty, juicy goodness were to die for! Everyone in our group ordered a good entree.
