So I got here about every week with friends and get the same thing. Always have good service when we go about 7PM. But when we go around midnight the service is really poor. Awful from the moment I walked into the "restaurant". Not busy what so ever and it took at least 5 minutes of standing there to be seated. Another 5 minutes to ask what we would like to drink. While waiting on the drinks went to the restroom and very trashy and smelly. Food took forever! I would not suggest this place to anyone even with a low budget. My sandwich wasn't nearly cut all the way through or even. Never even asked how our food was or checked up on us. We saw at least 2 employees in there and the bathrooms were out of soap! May i just say, this would have to be the worst service i've ever had! Our baseball team came here for dinner and took nearly 15 minutes for drinks and an extra 30 minutes for ordering. I go to this restaurant several times a month. I have noticed the last few times that is is dirty. Trash under tables and the coffee/ coke area the servers use. The floors are very greasy and food is under almost every table. The first few times I saw this I thought is was just a busy time. But I have now noticed it's always like this. I go to other Steak and shakes in St. Louis and they are clean and well staffed . So sad . I hope they can find s new manager soon. read more

I've only been here one other time, but service today is exceptionally slow. The tables are by no means full. We witnessed some unhappy customers while we waited about 10 min until we finally had a server. I would recommend to never go here!!! It was horrible it took an hour for us to get our food, the bathrooms had no paper towels, the fries were bland, stale, and cold. It is important to open my review by mentioning I love Steak and Shake food. Also, my review is not based on just one experience as I travel by this location a couple times a month and I used to be a frequent customer. Over the past year, the service here has degraded behind belief. The last two times we did drive thru orders, the orders were incorrect (an order of onion rings was missing , no cheese on a steak burger, no napkins or condiments, etc.) and the line took WAY too long to navigate. Last week was the final straw. My 2 grandkids, wife, and I decided to go inside for a meal. Waited 5+ min to be seated-while employees sat around and chatted with each other in drink service area, an employee at register chatted with customer (while a line to check out formed,,,). As we were seated, we were informed that our server was "also working the register "and would be with us shortly. We sat there and watch her check a few customers out and continue in this ongoing dialogue with someone who was obviously an acquaintance. After five more minutes, we asked the woman who had seated us if she might be able to provide us with at least some ice water and beverages. She begrudgingly agreed. After another 10 minutes, we had our icewater and I asked if she could perhaps take our order even though she was not our assigned server. She did and we asked where are drink order was. She said it would be along shortly. Chili Mac supreme was delivered instead of the chili Mac. The plain Steakburger we had requested had cheese on it. The milkshakes the kids ordered and our drinks still had not arrived. Bottom line: It took more than an hour to grab a burger and a shake. Upon checking out, I asked to communicate with the Manager. He seemed remarkably unconcerned so I asked for the name of the District Manager and was provided with her name and phone number-which took another 5 minutes. I have called her twice now and not received a return call. This is the most poorly run franchise I have ever encountered and will certainly never return. I've also put my experience out on social media and tried to alert people I know to avoid this place. I went there last night a party of 6 and never received such lousy service in my life. After being seated we waited for around 30 mins before the waitress even asked us what to drink! We had to write down our own orders and give them to her. After another 45 mins to a hour we got some of our food I ordered a frisco melt and the ones you buy at wal mart tasted better than that thing.
