This Steak 'n Shake is our go to stop for a bite on road trips to St. Louis. It is very easy to get to exiting from 64. There currently is some construction & the road is gravel down to a single lane. We saved a flyer of coupons that came in the mail... always saving money! My go to meal is a steak burger & fries. The burgers at Steak 'n Shake always have great flavor. I love the skinny shoe string fries. Our food came out so fast both times we visited this weekend. My fiancé always gets a chocolate milkshake. He always lets me steal a couple bites & it doesn't disappoint. The restaurant & bathroom was clean. The servers & kitchen staff were working great as a team. On the way home from a conference, pull up to the drive thru at 7 pm on. During operating hours. Myself and 2 cars in front of me, no one else in the drive thru. The first car is sitting at the menu waiting to order, 10 minutes passes and nothing. I pull around and see 4 "employees" standing around taking. The previous reviews are correct, DO NOT waste your time, these workers don't care in the slightest that they are at work on shift with customers waiting. The parking lot is atrocious and has potholes that will genuinely harm your vehicle. After seeing this location is locally owned and operated this tells me a few things. 1 they do not care to maintain nor manage the quality of this location 2 this location is a blemish to the brand and should be investigated 3 the staff is innetentive and oblivious to what it takes to stay in business. They are clearly collecting a check and leaving for the day with no passion or personal pride in their work. I'll say it once more, no one should visit this location, it should be closed and only re opened after major changes. Yeah sure it's a burger? Very disappointed. I emailed corporate two weeks ago and have not heard anything. I don't expect to hear back on this either. I did a car hop order at 2:38. It said it would be out to me in about 10 minutes. By 2:58 it still wasn't out to me. There were a couple cars that went through the drive through after me that got their orders quickly. When I went inside to see what was going on (which totally defeated the purpose of a Car Hop order) I found that my food was just sitting there. We ordered the Frisco Melt And Double Cheeseburger Meals. I got the chocolate Shake. I'd say it was one of the better steak and shakes locations. Doug, our server today, was great!! He was friendly and attentive. When my burger came out with cheese, he immediately went back to the kitchen to get the correct order...a cheeseless burger for me. He quickly delivered it with a fresh plate of fries. There were some cleanliness problems; we have to move over a table after being seated for a clean table. When we arrived off the interstate after driving for 6 hours, we noticed the parking lot was full and nearly drove off to another place. However, I noticed the drive-thru wasn't that busy and figured there were some non-customer parking issues. Sure enough, there were open tables. As I waited nearly 5 minutes at an empty register to pay, I thought I may mention the perception to the manager that finally took my money. She had a nasty comment about maybe people all drove separately and that's why the parking lot was full. Guess the point was lost that an overly full parking lot gives some people the impression there may be a wait. :( Doug...you made our day with your great service! read more

Worst experience ever! Drive thru took forever. My order was completely wrong and since the dine in area was closed (due to covid) I had to sit through it again just to try and get my correct items. By the time I made it back to the window, I asked for a refund as I didn't even want to try it again. Our shakes had melted and we weren't even given straws for them. They were also handed to us with ice cream all down the sides- no napkins or anything with them. I was told they couldn't refund me and that I needed to contact corporate. I agree with Alexis B. "It's Steak 'n Shake. Never amazing.." We went to this location this past Saturday night when we were in town visiting the in-laws. I will start with the high points: The food was hot and fresh and exactly the way we wanted it with only one exception. Our server was very nice and attentive. It was a great place to get the family fed for under $30. Now for the not so good: We had to wait 10 minutes to be seated when we got there not because they were busy but because they only had 2 servers. Our server was nice but it took another 5 minutes to get menus and then our drinks. When we orders my mother in-law ordered a salad and asked for no cheese our serve took that down but when her food came out it had cheese and another server said "well it's on the side so you can just scrape it off" Overall our expectation for this place wasn't too high and we probably will be back to another Steak 'n Shake. read more

Most disgusting restaurant i have ever been in . My daughter ordered chicken strips and when they k to the table they had hair from the cooks beard on them. Then when the order was remade apparently the same person cooked again and this time the hair was in her side of barbecue sauce. Has this restaurant never heard of making employees were facial hair nets ? The overall appearance of this location was dirty from the floors to bathrooms . Apparently cleanliness is not a priority of management or the health department for this restaurant. All the manager could say was that the hair must have been in the bottle of barbecue sauce when they opened it, are you kidding me? My wife wanted to come hear on our roadtrip after a yummy experience in Alabama. Well, the food here was pretty bad. The burgers tasted old, the buns were burned, and they looked like they were thrown together without much care. The order was wrong, and the place was pretty dirty, as well. However, the shake was pretty good, and worth the money, however the food wasn't worth waiting an hour for; my wife found this over an hour away and insisted that we wait to eat until we arrived. I'd pass on this Steak & Shake, and it made me reevaluate whether they are worth trying to find. read more
