Just go somewhere else. We hadn't been here since before covid. Back then we loved this place. Since then, the bean counters have wrecked it. You get your food with zero human contact or service. Order only through a kiosk. Stripped down food menu, only burgers, chili and fries. Used to have servers, real China, silverware, and Coke in a glass. Now it's serve yourself and all disposables. You have to scan your receipt QR code to turn on the drink machine. Restrooms were disgustingly filthy, so I can only assume the kitchen is, too. Food was OK, portions were decent. Overall, Steak and Shake seems to be circling the drain. Very sad. read more

Drive thru not working? How does a drive thru not work? Went inside to order & it was chaotic & absolutely unorganized. One girl took my order at the counter, but couldn't cash me out. She told the next girl to cash me out. When I handed her my gift card she said I'd have to step over to the cash register. There were at least 8 ppl in a family standing in front of the register. How was I to get through them? The cook apologized that it took so long because she had to go to the back to get another pan of prime burger patties. The waitress station is a mess... would it really kill them to bend over & pick up the napkins, straw papers, french fries on the floor or sweep or even kick them over to the trash can? I guess my OCD is on overload seeing this mess. I their burgers, but come on folks, GET IT TOGETHER! Oh, the reason the drive thru is down... because they are short handed. First of all, when I ordered it was very clear how my experience was going to go, but I still maintain a positive attitude, hoping to cheer up the person on the other side of the ordering microphone. I order and then I get up to the window and I pay for my shakes, and as the girl at the window was handing me my shakes, accidentally clamped onto her finger as I was grabbing the straws. I had one milkshake in one hand as I had the other milkshake in the other. She exclaimed, as if I was choking her to death. no big deal, I apologize profusely, and very nicely. This place is horrible!!!! My son and I went in for dinner tonight, place wasn't even that busy. We stood for over 10 minutes waiting to be seated and were not even acknowledged. Finally I approached the counter and asked to be seated, I was rudely told I would have to wait. What a pleasant surprise to see a new item at Steak and Shake. The soft flour taco is not just a reconstructed breakfast burrito, it's actually well seasoned and pretty tasty! It's reasonably priced at .99 cents, but truthfully it could go for about .89 cents. Anyway, if your traveling and need a break from the other burger joint's breakfast, give this a try. Reasonably priced, friendly & fast drive thru, and a good cup of coffee. read more

The tastiest burger out there today! No restaurant provides a better tasting burger with a good quantity of high quality garnishments. Today, we went through the drive thru. Normally we go inside. I'm not an impatient person and I would prefer that they take their time to present a quality product - which they did today. Unlike the other drive thrus at restaurants, they have an excellent microphone and speaker system. On google maps it states that they are open 24/7 but the past two days i have gone there and they have told me "i'm sorry we are closed". I really love steak and shake. Don't get me wrong, that's why I'm so heavily disappointed by this place in particular. I work hard for my money, I know nobody's perfect and fast food is a difficult industry. So a few mistakes here and there are ok. But I'm not exaggerating, literally every single time I come here they mess up my food. I want a western BBQ & Bacon without raw onion. In the 7 times I have eaten here, they have not got that correct one time. They always put raw onions on the burger. I don't expect perfection, but 7 times in a row? That's a bit ridiculous. The food is good and if you want a milkshake this is a good place to patronize. The prices are very reasonable, but it is typically at least an hour by the time you walk in the door until you are finished, so never be in a hurry here. If you have coupons, they sometimes have problems getting them to ring up right. I am not sure what the manager's name is, but he is very rude. Nice to be able to order dinner for breakfast from time to time and steak n shake is one of the few chains to allow you to do so. i like this chain because the vast majority of the time their food is made to order. I've been here many times, and everytime I have tried a different shake, the variety is something we don't have locally where I live. I have ate from both inside and through the drive thru. Infact to mention a point one time I went to lunch with an elderly lady, she liked the shakes and we would enjoy the happy hour together. The staff inside would help me help her up from the table she and I were sitting at every time. They were very patient with my indecisiveness when choosing a shake. Or something to eat for that matter. The burger was juicy and not burnt and the fries were cooked nicely and on the table they supply all the salts spices you needed including condiments. I love the retro atmosphere. Now for the drive thru, of course it's gonna take awhile, because they are running around taking care of people inside, and making all those shakes by hand. So if you are impatient then I suggest you take a chill pill. Because there are plenty of places that will give you a smashed burger in seconds. I never ate at one of those and I had my burger look like the picture or as advertised on tv. I can say that at stake and shake I get burger worthy of a photo. And another example with the drive and service. If you want salt or seasonings you need to ask for them and if they forget all you have to do is get out of your car and walk to the window and ask! Common sense. And of course nowhere has perfect service. I went yesterday to try the s'more shake, it was on the sign but it wasn't available anymore, so instead we ordered something else.
