We stopped by the this restaurant for a late lunch. We placed our order on the kiosk which went smoothly. We received our order in an adequate amount of time and the hamburg/fries were absolutely delicious! The counter representative was kind and person who kept the eating area very clean was very nice. Now the reason why I did not give it 5 stars. The men's bathroom smelled like I was in a bowl of urine. I almost lost my appetitie due to the disgusting smell. I do not know if the clean air machine located in the bathroom worked or they cleaned the floor with just water. It does not take much to provide a clean smelling bathroom. I judge many establishments as to how clean their bathroom is. You must get to work and clean up this bathroom because the smell is not acceptable. I recommend this establishment to eat but go to the bathroom before you go out to eat! read more

I ordered the garlic steak burger, a usual for me. Friendly service, but what I received for my order was a sad excuse for a garlic burger. The bun had NO garlic spread on top of it and it was dry as heck. I asked for extra garlic spread and there was NONE on top of the bun, and virtually none actually on the bun. Solid 3 stars. Great place, I love the food and the memories I've made with family and friends. Foods excellent, service has yet to disappoint, as every food order I've ever given has been perfect. Why not 5 stars? Well, the seats and tables are gross. Every time I've gone I've had to swipe off crumbs from who knows where, and the seats too. Really gross to do that! It's not that bad, but it's still pretty gross. And it's not like a one time thing, there is always crumbs and sometimes a little bit of liquid on the table. This was a better one that I'm use to. I like the idea of the kiosk to place the orders now, it makes everything go so quick. I will say the milkshake I ordered had too much milk in it, but I still enjoyed it. The burgers were greasy just as they should be. Wow - has Steak 'n Shake gone to hell. They won't let you post less than a 1 star rating on yelp. Do not dine in at any Steak'n Shake. They are totally kiosk driven. Just one step away from a robot. As bad as the kiosk is it even asked if I wanted to leave a tip. Somehow food still came out cold and was prepared wrong. When I went to get a soda I had to have a scan code to get a drink - unbelievable. Also this particular Steak and Shake smelled terrible - I guess the mop water they used was days old or the same one they used for cleaning the bathroom. The "robots" apparently could not pick up the trash from the floors or clean the table. This all occurred in during a non rush hour time and with very few patrons in the restaurant. Steak 'n Shake is one of my top places to go because of the 5-way however THIS location (I have tried at least 7 times) SUCKS!!! I always order the 5-way with extra chili beef and it's always in a diff container with hardly any chili beef. The burgers are sloppy and small. The fries are never fresh, and the wait is always long. Even the can chili from this location is watery ... Gus would be so disappointed by this location. Descent service and very good food and milkshakes. Satisfied with prices as well. What I didn't like and what would keep me from returning...they allow pets in a place where you eat!! Chocolate Milkshake Review - OMG none better than here. From the first taste with the big sturdy straw the chocolate flavor is amazing. Watch out for a brain freeze with this one. This is not a high volume machine made milkshake, it is homemade and blended to perfection. You will not be disappointed, all other fast food restaurants that serve milkshakes are just pretenders compared to this quality experience. It was so good I had to pull over and enjoy it. Sort of a typical visit for a steak and shake. There was a bit of a wait for the food, but we entertained ourselves with our devices. I had forgotten I am not wild about their fries, so I should have upgraded to onion rings. And instead of getting the burger with just the lettuce, tomato and pickle so I could add my own condiments, I apparently conveyed to the server that I wanted a bare burger with nothing on it at all. I never go to steak and shake but had a coupon so ordered the 5 way chili. Didn't notice until I got home that they gave me a bowl of spaghetti with about a table spoon of beans on top. No meat at all. The online menu didn't say anything about pasta. I'm gluten intolerant but gave it a try anyway. Tasted like soggy spaghetti with ketchup and onions. Our last visit the buns on our burgers were STALE, the fries had an old taste and texture to them, the sweet teas tasted very watered down. Anyone from the area knows that if your looking to grab lunch in Leesburg along highway 441 it's likely to be a disaster, unless of course you have plenty of time and lots of patience. I am a fan of Steak 'n Steak and for the most part have had reasonably good experiences at many of their locations, but this one is a very very poor example of what this brand stands for. Understanding this restaurant is not really fast food so the wait time is far different than going to one of the big three burger joints but on the same note the food is on a different level so I really don't mind waiting a few minutes longer. I didn't both to look at the reviews before pulling in since this brand is usually pretty consistent, that was my first mistake, my second mistake was to get boxed in at the drive through, soon after placing my order I realized how poorly managed this location is, the drive through was a parking lot as you can see I had plenty of time to inspect and photograph the exterior. I ordered a double steak burger, a fry and a drink and waited 25 minutes idling in line waiting to get my food. This place needs to regroup and after looking at most of the other reviews now they need to replace the management staff. It breaks my heart leaving this review since I'm a big stake n shake fan, but people deserve to know what's going on, as well as the manager at this place. My have to admit, the food is delicious, but the speed of service is always horrible, Is sad for the employs when they can't multi task. Drive thru is supposed to be fast ! Not take 9 mnts to take my order.. Although they have 4 people working at 12:45am , I'm guessing management needs to add 3 more ? Just a suggestion, it might speed up the service a little bit, yeah it might cost the company some money, but you'll get it back ! Since 4 cars turn around and left the place, that means $0 .. This is my first visit to Steak and Shake anywhere. Don't have them back home where I live. The shake menu is amazing, and I got the Peanut Butter Shake. Every meal is basically some kind of sandwich and fries, for UNDER $4. Now how can you go wrong? That's even better than McDonald's, and you are served in a pleasant atmosphere. My mom and I were in town on business and decided to try and eat here. I say try because we didn't stay. We waited to be seated as it was just us waiting. There were people at tables but it wasn't full. There was a party of 8 and a couple booths with guest in them. The waitress seated us and the table was sticky. She took the order of the booth by us and then went to the party of 8 and asked them if their checks were separate. Now I was a waitress years ago and normally to save time I was taught to ask that before you even took an order. So at this point I don't see us getting even our drinks ordered so we left. I know a 5 star rating seems a little over the top for a 24hr fast food type place but my experience here was 5 star worthy. A group of 6 of us came in on a Saturday night a little before midnight. De was our server and she was AMAZING. It was a full dining room but De was on top of it. She got everything we asked for exactly right, I'm a picky order-er, and even brought me my 2nd round of food perfectly like my first with out me having to rattle off the whole thing again. A simple "Can I have that again" was all I needed to say. On top of her great service De was amusing and didn't mind my groups questionable adult humor. This by far was the worst Steak 'n Shake I have ever been to . Came here looking to do a quick take out. After ordering my food to go I didn't get back in my car for another hour and a half. Please read below! I ordered a burger meal and shake to go . I waited for someone to acknowledge me at the cash register for about 10 minutes. Finally a manger with slicked back hair came to the register as if I was an inconvenience to take my order. I ordered a burger meal and a shake to go . My food was ready in about 10 minutes which was great, but still no shake. I waited patiently for it, then after a half hour I still didn't have my shake ( my food was ice cold at this point). Finally the same manager saw I was still waiting and told me he would check . I waited another half hour for the shake. He got really backed up in burger area so I waited even longer. He never apologized , nor cared my food was ice cold and for how long I waited. Finally a shake appeared in the window . He wouldn't go get the shake!!' I am frequent reviewer on Yelp and have never written a bad review of any restaurant before; however, as someone who visits this store few times per month I have to say that it is quite literally the WORST run restaurant in Lake County. I was here on Saturday, and before even coming through the door was told by two separate groups exiting the building that the service was awful and that I should save myself so e aggravation by going somewhere else. I came in anyway, spent about eleven minutes at the burger bar waiting for someone to acknowledge me, before finally leaving unserved. Today is Monday, and the situation is exactly the same. A manager (Miranda) greeted me as I sat down (fifteen minutes ago now) -- but while she is stood in front of me and has been clear at her register at least five times, she has yet to offer a drink, put a placemat on the counter, or take an order. In fact, as I type this she is brushing my elbow as she passes. Meanwhile, behind me the dining room is growing extremely loud with crying children and angry guests. At the register every transaction takes minutes as the manager comps one ticket after another and apologizes to every patron. Not sure why Yelp is continuing to hide the multiple negative reviews of this restaurant, but please check the dates on the reviews that they are showing and hit the button on the bottom to open up the hidden reviews. The star rating does not reflect the experiences that patrons are reporting. In conclusion, I will pass along a price of advice that another patron have me, and that I wish I had followed: don't set foot in this place. am actually a regular here and foursquare points me out as mayor. The food here is good...I usually order the grilled chicken sandwich and fries and have no complaints. The fries are beyond good and I was surprised to discover that the ice cream was excellent. If you go, get a sundae even if it's a small one. You won't be disappointed. What lacks here is the service. The staff does their best, but during the busy times they are extremely understaffed. If you have the misfortune of arriving during a busy time, be prepared to wait until they discover you are there before they finally seat you. You will find yourself standing sort of mixed in with the people waiting at the register to pay their check.
