When Ivwent in an employee was "washing" his hands and another just walked out behind me. Didn't see him wash his hands at all. I am very disappointed with the service I got last time I was there. Normally my family and I eat there once a week but the crew working the night of 6/19/26 was the worst... they did not serve our food until an HOUR after I ordered (around 1:03pm) and then the food was ice cold and wrong... I asked for a refund and the lady said "wait you want the food remade AND a refund?" I said "yes my kids need food" so she went to the back and supposedly gave me a refund and I never got it. It was $33.16... I tried to call the lawrenceburg location several times for several days and no one answered. This place is the worst place. The new crew is very immature younger people not to mention they ALWAYS VAPE while making the food. This place needs new management or at least management to be aware of what has been happening. Something needs to be done and my order needs to be refunded like I was promised. read more

they have a QR code that you have to scan before the drink machine will work, however if you either don't scan that or don't have one the tall guy with grey hair (i'm assuming a manager of some sort) will come out and try to embarrass/belittle you by assuming you're stealing a drink and telling you to pay for it really loudly in front of everyone. he sounds almost robotic and looks incapable of showing any real emotion at all so he just comes off as a real grade A loser. I watched him do this to another woman right after he did it to me. $3 for a 12 oz cup is the only real theft taking place. the food was extremely cold when we ate it so it really wasn't worth a single dollar that we spent and at the end of the day the drink machine should be the least of his worries. We recently visited this location for the first time in a while. There was one major difference that we discovered immediately and that was the change from full service to counter service. I personally liked this change and thought it worked well. I got the Garlic Steakburger, a Hot Dog with ketchup and mustard, and an Oreo Shake. The Garlic Steakburger came with American cheese on a toasted bun with garlic butter and a sprinkle of garlic salt. Very simple sandwich as you can see but lot's delicious garlic flavour and the burger was cooked perfectly. The hot dog I got wasn't nearly as successful. It tasted like the cheapest, low quality, hot dog that I've ever had. It tasted like I'd cooked a store brand Wal-Mart hot dog in boiling water and served it only with the Walmart dog being better. It was absolute trash. I finished the meal with an Oreo Shake which was more or less Oreos in a vanilla shake topped with whipped cream and of course a cherry. I can't vouch for the food at this particular location, I only stopped in for Happy Hour 2-5. I was feeling a need to splurge and stray from my diet and it just so happened to Happy Hour and half priced hand dipped milkshakes... can't beat that. I ordered the Salted Caramel milkshake... a delicious creation that was both sweet and salty, blended with salted caramel syrup and sweet 'n salty caramel pretzel pieces then topped with whipped cream, cherry and more pretzel pieces. I wouldn't order that particular shake option again. Honestly, the pretzel pieces tasted a bit stale... but it was the first time that I'd ever had them in a shake. This is the second opportunity I've had to visit this location over the last 30 days. My son is working at a local camp and we took him to dinner there last night on July 4th. It's a different set up than my normal trips to steak and shake where you use a kiosk to place your order and then they bring the food out to you or call you up to the counter. The folks that work there are very nice, each one is working hard due to limited staffing. They work well together and were quick to help customers with ordering and bring the food out. The food was hot and very good. It is by far the best dining experience I've ever had a steak 'n Shake in my life. read more

My wife dined here with her coworker on May 22nd on their way back from a business trip. The very next day, they both came down with food poisoning. Since this was the only meal they shared, she called Steak and Shake corporate after she recovered to let them know, "Hey, one of the ingredients they're using at that restaurant might be bad so you need to look into it." Public health awareness is a good thing, right? My wife got a call back from Steak and Shake corporate, and they accused her of lying about getting sick and demanded to show proof that she actually had food poisoning. Apparently her board certified family physician husband (me) seeing her stuck in the bathroom all night for the first time in our 8 year relationship isn't good enough. Pros & Cons: Pros: Clean Restrooms, Parking is Reasonable, Seating is Decent. Cons: *Food* The food hardly taste as great as it supposed to. Not best food in the world and the staff and cooks could put more work into the meals. *Poor Service* Showing up is about the best part. When you go in they have poor staff and understaffed 9 times outta 10. And only a select few care about their job. Most there can be caught cursing and yelling, sometimes getting your food to you warm enough or sometimes cold. *Hairnets Should be a MUST* I have hair, you have hair, we all have hair. But I didn't order a hairball sandwich with hair on the side. Hairnets are a must at lots of restaurants but not here. I know I'm getting a 4 or 5 dollar meal, but I don't deserve to find multiple pieces of hair in just 1 meal little known any. I give it a 1STAR due to lack of care and respect twords customers, lack of staff being lazy and slow. Double cheese burger was OK. Didn't look very appealing but was ok. When I pulled to the window to pay/pickup order, I noticed a container half filled with fries sitting on a shelf above the frier. I waited almost 6 minutes for my order (453681704826). When the fries were ready, she reached up and got the half filled box of fries. It appeared she put fresh fries into the box. Then the box was put into the bag and handed to me. I said something to the drive thru window attendant about what I saw, She called the manager and I told him what I think I saw. He told them to fix another box of fries and handed the lady at the frier the box that was given to me. She filled another box and from what I could tell, set it on the counter and handed the original box back to me. The box was much cooler on the bottom than near the top. When I got them home, my husband remarked the fries were not as good as usual before I said anything. We frequent this Wendy's often and I was very disappointed with tonight's visit. read more

Had a really good experience at this Steak 'n Shake this evening. Had the Royale Steak burger with a side of bacon and cheese fries. Honestly some of the best fast food I've had in my lifetime. Service was horrible this morning. The server was telling that on "over easy" eggs the whites are runny. She took our order on a placemat. Then another server came to take our order too. The manager was cooking and not managing while the wait staff stood around. When our bacon came it was almost raw. The server asked if we wanted it done again. I said yes, the replacement bacon was a bad as the first. I had to ask for salsa twice for my eggs. Then was given a container of it about the size of a thimble. All I can say is, Wow! I regularly eat at Steak n' Shakes because of the cheapness of the food. I consider any above mediocre food and service to be a positive experience. I always either order ahead on the mobile app and pick up the food inside and take home, or go through the Drive Thru. At this location on Monday 6-18-18, I went through the drive thru. They do truly make the food fresh, I always order 2 of the 3.99 Chicken Fingers meals, and occasionally the 2 for 3. My experience was fast, and the order was correct and warm. This location is much better than the several others I have visited in the Cincinnati area, and I would return. 4/5 stars because the fries get cold very quickly, I think they should be served in a closed box instead of an open top traditional fry box. read more

My husband went through the drive through here (Lawrenceburg, IN) yesterday evening and received a burger with a moldy bun. He went back through the drive through again to get a replacement. The second burger he received had a chunk out of the bun on top bun and guess what?? Mold on the bottom bun. So when you get a complaint about a moldy bun, instead of checking the stock and throwing away the bad product, you just try to rip off the mold and still serve it? Disgusting. Absolutely disgusting. Really the worst Steak n Shake in the trip state area! The last few times I've eaten in there, it was so dirty...grease all along the wall that looks out to UDF..bathroom not clean either. So this last time I just went thru the drive thru. There was a car in front of me that apparently had a huge order as the rest of us behind him sat and waited just to get to the window for a full 30 minutes! Finally, he drove off and I went up to the wondiw. The girl was practically standing there with her hand sticking out the window with my food in her hsnd! So..I thought, my order is ready this fast? Well, obviously it had been ready for about 30 minutes! Stone cold, dry and unedible!! Rather than asking that customer with the huge order to pull aside and wait for them to bring their food out, they just let him sit there while the kitchen still prepared all the orders that all just literally sat there. That was it. My worst pet peeve about fast food is you pay for it then can't even eat it! This is one of the dirtiest steak n shakes I have ever been to. The restrooms were unclean with no way to dry your hands. This was the case for both the men and women restrooms. It took us 30 minutes to even get water and almost an hour to get food. I had to find a waitress to try to get help. The restaurant is not even full. On June 9th I believe I called and ask if we could reserve 12 seats. The manager said they did not reserve seating but since we would be there on the 11th of June at 11 o'clock am they shouldn't be a problem. We were there around 11 with party bag in hand and the server said you must be the grandma that needs 12 seats. Servers went to work and in no time they had our seating ready. Well went to steak and shake on 12/31/14 placed the order with waitress we all repeated our order to her. wait for 45 minutes ask for no salt on fries . well guess what had fries with salt and hamburger had a cold bun felt like it came out of freezer throwed on grill on top of burger the other was a grill sandwich and they brought her a burger, the other sandwich didnt have all the stuff that came with it. ask waitress the cook said he didnt have all the stuff for that sandwich so the cook should have informant us he didnt have all the stuff too make the burger.. bun on the other sandwich was soggy, the waitress looked shocked that i was complaining about the food being cold.but the waitress had time to stand an talk at the counter, the other couple sitting behind us told us they felt sorry for us waiting that long and order was so messed up , they had music loud when the manager finally came over i ask if she could hear my complains with the music being so loud.
