Just went there for a shake and paid with a debit card. I asked for a reciept becausr all they give you is an order reciept showing what you order. I was told by Maleya that they dont print out reciepts which is a lie. If they can print out an order reciept then they can print out a reciept of what I paid. She finally went and got thr manager who was very annoyed that I asked and she printed out one just fine which again confirms the lie. So how many people are they ripping off by not giving reciepts? This is a very shady practice as the customer has no idea if they were charged correctly or not and cannot prove charges without a reciept. I will NOT be going to this steak and shake and will be plastering this practice on social media. None of the other SNS do this so it lets me know that something funny is going on. Honestly, I am not sure why I go back every once in a while but one thing has never changed- the service is the worst I've ever seen. The servers are generally nice and seem super stressed out and apologetic but also MIA. Can't remember our order- don't refill drinks, no napkins. Pretty sure it's a management issue. I will say this Steak 'n Shake was 10 times better than the ones in Louisville, KY!! Our waiter Terry was so nice and very quick bringing us our drinks and our food. Great food, great prices and don't forget the online coupons that makes an already low price even lower! And did I mention the coupons can be used for your whole family instead of just one person? The Good: Milkshakes are amazing, I can't describe the taste or creaminess of them but I can say that I have yet to find a place match the quality. The steak burgers are top notch serving them in a variety of ways from patty melts, frisco burgers, grilled cheese burgers and the basic. And if you can't decide on one you want or you may not like the choices, build your own! The Bad: Service is sketchy at times depending on your server. I've sat for thirty minutes before being asked if I've been waited on. Or I've ordered and waited over an hour before my drink arrived then waited another twenty minutes before my food came. There is a way around this at the Franklin location, ask for Amy or Terry and you will have no problems. It seems like they are able to multitask better and make sure you have the best dining experience. There's one other male server that is great but I cannot remember his name for the life of me. Hopefully the service improves beyond those three servers though. The Ugly: A drive thru is supposed to be fast, efficient and with a wait time less than the dining room right? Wrong. Here it seems to take just as long sitting in your car rather than eating in. I don't recommend the drive thru however I have never had an order messed up which is great after waiting ten to fifteen minutes. The other downfall here is the drive thru seems to bog down the dining room and vice versa. So if you see a long line and the dining room is full, you may want to eat some where else unless one of the three servers I listed are working. Overall, I love this place. read more

We were one of five tables in the dining room. Service was ok and the food didn't take too much longer than we thought it should have. Fries were cold. There was no one at the register when I went to pay. I'm not sure how long I waited but when no one came I sat back down. I went back up when I saw someone else paying a few minutes later. It took a while as they were splitting the check a few ways. When they were done the cashier told me I had to wait because he had to get back to the kitchen. This was the first time I had to beg a business to take my money for services rendered. Anyway, he let me pay but left the couple behind me wait. It looked like the only person qualified to run the register is also the only one qualified to put mustard on the burgers. Either that or the place was full of oblivious, untrained employees who had no manager there to tell them what to do OR help pick up the slack. The burgers and fries are good. The waitresses were very friendly. However the shake I ordered sucked. I asked the waitress if this place has the chocolate malt milk shake. Her reply was "We can malt anything" I said "ok" I'll try one. I know my malted milk shakes. Arrive at noon on Mother's Day. We were never greeted or acknowledged upon entry. The restaurant was short staffed and out of milk to make milkshakes at noon on Mother's Day Sunday, according to our waitress. Staff was telling the dine-in customers they couldnt make milkshakes but were making milkshakes using water instead of milk for patrons in the drive-thru. Credit card readers were down. Tried to visit this location on Black Friday after having been out shopping all day and driving out of my way to stop here. Advertised hours were till 2am, however at 1:30am the lobby was locked with a hand written note on the door saying the lobby was closed and if you were an Uber driver or online order to visit the drive thru. Drove around to try to order from the drive thru and they had placed chairs in front of where you were to order so guest could not get to the order box... As a business owner myself I know the importance of being open the hours advertised and extremely disappointed in this location. Someone needs to look into this matter ASAP read more
