Half empty restaurant and I still had to wait 15 minutes .... just to be seated. Lots of employees saw me standing there, but not a one offered to seat me until the hostess who was busy cleaning the floor stopped by and acted as if I'd just walked through the door. Finally, I was seated. Another 10 minutes passed before I was discovered by a waitress. Food came quickly, but the waitress did not check back to refill my drink or to ask if my meal was satisfactory. It's difficult swallowing a steak burger with nothing to drink. My milkshake never came. I never saw my waitress again after she delivered my food. I adjusted my bill and left cash on the table. Terrible. read more

Before I start, I would like to Give a big thank you to our waitress KRYSTAL W the only person in the store with a good attitude, The customer service was horrible. I went in there to get a simple meal, 2 burgers, fries, and onion rings. it took them 45 minutes to make, and for a "Dine-In" order, they brought it to us in a crumbled up bag, squishing it all together. when I went to pay i took 15 more minutes, and me having to say something for someone to finally come over to us, with attitude at that. I got the fries and they were cold, the burger was made sloppy, and it ended with them kicking us out of the store for saying something to them about the service!! read more

This was always one of my favorite places to eat BUT it has really gone downhill. Went there today and to begin with there were alot of dirty empty tables. Another couple waiting to be seated. We waited and waited and no one was cleaning the tables off, by then there were probably 10 people waiting. Finally got seated and my bun was very hard and crunchy, asked for another and same thing. Finally ask them to just bring me a plain bun. Another lady there complained about the hard buns. They took it of off our bill but the service and food is below satisfactorily. read more

0 Stars. Started in the drive tru, the lady comes on and says "I'll be with you in a minute". We wait, 3, 4, 5 minutes with silence so we yell into the thing "hello!?!" and still no answer. In spite of this we decided to go inside to order. We walk in and go up to the counter and see the manager messing with some bacon 5 feet away from us but he doesn't even lift his head to acknowledge our presence. We stand there for a couple of minutes right by the register with employees walking around and no one even says "hello". We walked out and went somewhere else, and we will never be back. I would give this zero stars if possible. I have been here twice since moving back to an area that has steak and shake. I have been disappointed and pissed both times. The first time was at 10 pm at night and maybe 1 table in there. I ordered a 2 burgers and 2 shakes to go. Waited over 30 minutes because they gave another person my order. This time we order 2 shakes in the drive through at 3:35/3:40 is pm today (Saturday). We finally got up to the window at 4:05. We would have left if it wasn't for us being trapped by the car in front of us and the car behind up. We got up to the window and the two girls there looked at us and proceeded to talk. Didn't even acknowledge us or anything. We ended up driving away. So did the car behind up. We will not be coming back. The worst! The workers don't care about the customers. We waited 35 mins for ONE milkshake and just to find out NO ONE WAS PLANNING ON MAKING THE MILKSHAKE. This place is filthy and the employees seem to hate working here. Service was slow, as the customer in front of me had a problem with his order. I ordered a plain steakburger to go and the older lady said "cheeseburger" when my order was up. I questioned it and she opened/checked my burger, but held it so the paper around it obstructed my view. She then assured me it was plain. I feel bad giving just one star because the waitress we had (Mattia) actually tried her best to give us exceptional service. However, when we first entered the restaurant a waitress by the name of April immediately told us they didn't have space for 9 people (7 adults and 2 kids) and that we would not be able to dine in. We told her that we did not need to be seated together and that we would wait to be seated. At which time Mattia came to us and told us that she would seat us all together, that it wasn't a problem. The entire time we were seated, while waiting for our food and actually eating, April continuously made comments about our party and how much of an "inconvenience" it was to have us dining in there. She made us feel extremely uncomfortable and unwelcome. I am extremely appalled that someone with that attitude and poor customer service skills is actually still employed. This is the last time we will be going here! we waited to be seated for about 20-25 mins even though there was at least 7 open tables! numerous waiters and a manager made eye contact with us continued to just walk right past as if we weren't even there! Eventually we left but the few times we've been here and managed to get a table the experiences weren't much better. The food takes an unusually long time to come out and anytime we ordered shakes they wouldn't come till we were basically done with our food and ready to leave. We just stopped in for shakes to go, and the whole experience still managed to be a nightmare. The cashier (who I believe was also the manager) charged us for a completely different order and treated us like it was somehow our fault. They wouldn't give us a proper refund, and then the wait for our shakes was excessive. We didn't get so much as a "sorry." I've never left a bad review before, but I've also never been remotely disappointed by a Steak n Shake before. Guess there's a first time for everything. read more

While my husband and I were waiting for our table and then while we were waiting for our food we saw over 30 people walk out of this eatery because they could not get seated. We also saw 2 people at the bar leave even though they had their drinks because they couldn't wait any longer for their food. We waited a good 30 minutes for our food. And that was after we had waited 20 minutes just to be seated. A hamburger and fries is all we wanted. The poor little server named Patience was working her but off but she and 2 others were the only servers and not much help in the kitchen either. Then we went to pay we stood in line at least 10 minutes to PAY OUR BILL. This place is a joke. Management and corporate office better take note or there will not be any customers because we certainly will not be back and I doubt if the others that were there today will be either. read more

This Steak and Shake is now under a new manager who is making great changes here. He is friendly and goes around to the tables to greet customers. This is something that all previous managers never did. Since we have been regulars for a long time, we have seen many managers and staff come and go. It's been a convenient place to grab breakfast before work and if it wasn't for our great waitress we would have left. She is always friendly, knows our order and at times stepped in and cooked it herself. The new manager is paying attention to details and I expect he will turn this place around and make it what it should be. If you haven't been here in a while I would recommend you give it another try. I gave it 4 stars because although there is still much to do we saw several changes last Friday and had a great discussion with Michael about his vision for this restaurant. read more

I love Steak 'n Shake in Mobile Alabama, not so much over here in KY. I thought this would be a quick dinner, maybe 30 min in and out. It took an hour to get our food. Thankfully my son had fun with the stickers, or he would have been a crazy man. The waitress we had was walking around yelling back to the kitchen about being short staffed, and how she'd like to take her tables' order. I usually love Steak 'n Shake but this one is pitiful. I asked for light sauce on my burger and they gave me the complete opposite. The burger had mustard everywhere, even on the outside of the bun. It like they won't seat anyone until there are several waiting to be seated and won't go to the register until there at least four in line. Stopped in for breakfast, parked the car, walked up to the door, a sign in the door says "closed 12pm. Mgmt" didn't say closed until noon, didn't say closed at noon, but the doors were locked so I got the message. My fiancé and I have been here a couple times now and we love it. We always get seated right away. The server is always quick to get our drinks and order. We may have to wait a little longer for food but we have never had a problem with our order. Food is always hot and delicious! Love the fact that it's 24/7 since we both work weird hours. read more

Our server was nice, but it it took forever to get our food, and when it did come out, our fries and onion rings were cold. I think it was because we ordered milkshakes, and the servers have to make them, but that's kind of the point of Steak 'n Shake! They seemed like they were understaffed. The milkshakes were good and the white truffle burger was pretty decent. I probably won't be going back any time soon though. It just wasn't worth the price. read more
