Good Burger, Good Service Friend had a gift card and wanted company for a late lunch. We both had double cheeseburgers and fries. While the fries are thinner than I prefer, they were hot and tasty. Burger was good. Service was quick and smiling server came by twice to check on us. My friend had a strawberry shake they said was good. Restrooms were clean as was restaurant. Even though the restaurant was two-thirds full, the noise level was not excessive. The booth seats are comfortable. While not a fan of typical chains and franchises, I've never had a bad meal at a Steak and Shake and the price is fair compared to many high-priced upscale burger joints that promise much but deliver fluff. read more

Went to the Steak n Shake on Hixson Pike today. Was going to go through the drive thru however after sitting there for over 5 minutes with no one come to me I decided to go in. I stood at the counter for 10 minutes waiting on someone to notice I was there. I counted 9 people working there but doing nothing (2:00pm not many customer there). Someone took my 4 shakes order. I sat and waited. After 20 minutes and no one speaking to me I waved for a manager to just give me my money back. She appoliged and told me I could have it free. I did not want it free I wanted my order. She found my order and gave it to me. Yes, just as suppected, there was nothing but melted cream in the cups. It had been sitting there as long as I was. I was really here and it was one of the best Steak N' Shake experiences I've had. They were busy, but the server was quick and was nice to come and check on us several times. The food was also freshly cooked and didn't make us sick at all. As someone with Crohn's disease, I would highly recommend this restaurant if you want burger style food, but are concerned about eating the right types of food that won't make you sick. read more

I will say I love the Steak 'n Shake franchise. But this location is terrible the food is always cold and it takes forever for the meal to arrive. I was in a party of 5 and we were seated admittedly which was surprising since it was rush hour. Our drinks took forever to arrive ,but not nearly as long as the food did. My burger was cold and they forgot one of our milkshakes and one of our burgers. We asked for A1 sauce and they brought us a bottle after about 10 minutes and it was completely empty. We asked for another one and they brought out a second one it too was completely empty. Now after this one of our party members went to the counter and told what happened and finally we got our A1 sauce. All in all everything that could go wrong for a restaurant did. My boyfriend and I came in to eat last night. We both just wanted something easy and low key. I arrived, was seated, and the waitress was extremely nice, even though obviously very rushed and distracted by the amount of other tables. When my boyfriend showed up, I think we got asked for our order maybe 20 minutes after he got a water... admittedly, I couldn't tell if anyone around had actually had their order taken, but it did take way too long- I had been there over half an hour at this point. When our order was finally taken, our waitress did find it totally normal to walk away as I spoke, to sing happy birthday to the group of teenagers at a large table. And then after that round, invited the restaurant to do the same song over again but with much more gusto this time. Honestly, my boyfriend was slightly infuriated, as she was clearly ignoring us. But she did mosey back over and take our order. Finally, we wait somewhere around 30 minutes (in a Steak N Shake), wondering what could be the issue, and the manager comes over to us to let us know they've run out of the noodles for chili mac. IMO- it took WAY too long to discover this fact. We did everything we could to be polite, and decided to just leave for somewhere else. My boyfriend had ordered his dinner but only received the chili cup and milkshake at this time... so really, was he ever even due his order? We wondered. The manager did offer and took care of the chili cup and milkshake, explaining it had been a busy night & they rarely run out of things. Either way- things were totally fine and okay at this point. No annoyance really, I just wanted everyone to stop explaining and let us leave for another restaurant. Last minute I decided, oh wait- I did want a milkshake, can you guys make me one to go please, I will pay for it, but I did want it. Possible? Me and my fiancee went to eat a early lunch at this location and our experience at this place was the worst ever our food was wrong what was right was cold seeing as it sat in the window for nearly 10 mins we never got a refill on our drink and when we asked to have our food recooked the woman cooking kept saying everything was right and that she was tired of remaking food but the way I see it if you don't want to have to recooked food cook it right the first time she then got very hateful when we told a manager that we didn't want our food because she was fussing about having to remake it and she was rude and said good and bye like it was nothing to them to loose business we will never go back to that location because of that one woman she was also skipped the large order multiple times making another table wait a very long time before they got there food read more

The service is horrible. Every time I go through the drive-thru it take's me at least 15-30 minutes every single time when they are not busy! If it's busy it takes anywhere from 40-60 minutes, in a drive-thru!! It's very obvious that corporate does not care about drive-thru times. Service inside is no better. Sometimes you can be in and out within 30 minutes, sometimes you're in there for 2 hours. My friend and I went in at 11:30 pm on a weekday, business was very slow. We ordered 2 plates of chicken tenders and fries, and 2 different shakes. Our shakes came first about 20 minutes after we ordered. Our food came about an hour or so later! Our waitress was pretty nice about it, we understand it wasn't her fault. I've worked at many restaurants and I've been to many restaurants in my life and not one has consistently been this bad!
