Waited a long time for a booth although there were 5 empty (waiting bussing); finally seated, ordered a bowl of chili with a side of cottage cheese, 35 minutes later I received a "cup" of chili--waitress said all the bowls are dirty and it would take another 20 minutes for one. Had to ask twice for the cottage cheese. Did not see one single adult on duty???? read more

Service was terrible. Sat in the drive thru lane for 8 full minutes with no acknowledgement. Went inside to order, reported the issue but there was little in the way of interest or apology. Stood at the counter for another 5 minutes before anyone came to take my order. Did not receive one item I ordered and did not discover it until I was back on the road. Food I received was excellent, but the management of this store needs an overhaul. This is not my first time stopping at this store, service was very slow previously also. It was just much worse on this trip. Time for food to arrive was good. I expect to wait for the food, but not to order. read more

We live in Brownsburg and EVERY TIME we go, there's ALWAYS a problem with the food or the service. They always seem to be understaffed. Tonight, my husband made a trip through the drive thru to get a hot fudge brownie sundae. He got all the way home to find they forgot the brownie in the sundae. Don't waste your money or time-go to Dairy Queen! read more

After waiting in the drive thru for over 10 minutes for 2 milk shakes and when they came out they were completely melted and the cups were not even cold. Ridiculous. read more

If I could I would give them zero stars! My daughter and I went to have dinner there the other night. The only thing nice I can say about our experience was the waitresses friendliness. We sat and waited for a good 10 minutes before she came and took our drink order; we ordered our dinner when we ordered our drinks too. After we got our drinks, we sat and watched a table of 8 be seated and served before us, a table of 6 be seated and served before us, as well as a couple be seated and served before us. We didn't even order anything complicated; my daughter ordered corn dogs and I ordered a taco salad. I will have you know that I do not complain at restaurants, ever. I feel like it's inconvenient for the waitress and the chef, not to mention the manager if they have to come over to the table to speak with me. I waited a good 35 minutes and no one ever came and said that our order would be right out or asked if we needed refills on our drinks. I will also tell you that I am nearing 30 years old and never have I ever ordered a meal and then left a restaurant. I did that day though; I left $5 on the table and walked out. No one tried to stop us. Thoroughly, I am not pleased with this location at all as this isn't the first time that I've waited so long for dinner. read more

They are NEVER open 24 hours. Always have signs on their windows that they are closed. Dining area AND drive thru. I work nights so this is convenient for me to eat after work, they are always closed by 12. Good food & cheap prices but never open at night and sometimes service is slow. read more

I wish it were possible to give a negative rating...that said, my problem is not only with this S'nS but with the entire corporation. My wife and I were traveling through the area and stopped for the night and decided to dine at S'S. Before we could be served - a young man entered the establishment "exercising his 2nd Amendment rights" with an open-carry pistol. I asked the mgr if this was the policy and she replied it was, if the person was properly licensed. "He had the right to protect himself." From what? A drive-in full of children and old people? The armed man had taken a seat beside us and she asked him for his license which he produced. The mgr apologized to him for asking to see the license but never bothered to apologize to my wife or me for our discomfort. I contacted corporate and reported the incident and asked for them to change their policy. I do not wish to dine in an establishment that allows firearms. I will not enter a Steak'n Shake again until they change their policy. I hope you will feel the same. read more

Food was okay but wow...was shocked at how terrible the service was here. Steak N Shake is usually very friendly and quick and this one is by far the worst I have ever been to. Waited 15 minutes to be seated while several dirty tables went unbussed. 3 different groups that came in after us left. (We had a baby and didn't want to reload him). Finally got seated and order was taken in timely manner but once we got our food, we never saw our server again. She did not bring us one refill or even the final check. I had leftovers and was not offered a box and not able to ask because server was nowhere to be found. Not impressed! read more

Ive been wanting to write a review on Steak 'n Shake in Brownsburg for a while now but haven't got around to doing so until now. 1st let me say, please avoid going here! The service is terrible and careless. If you go to the drive through which is suppose to be faster you sit sometimes up to 15 minutes just for a steak-burger. Did I mention you most likely will need to repeat yourself several times during your order as the teenagers they employ tend to pay you no attention while you place it. Nearly every time we have eaten there it's always the same. To top that off after the waiting and consistently repeating your order to them, it still comes out wrong or missing certain condiments or ways you asked it to be prepared. They are very short and rude with you when you question them or call them out on it, so be prepared for that as well. I remember good times here when I was a teenager and now its really gone down hill. My wife loves there steak-burgers but i just refuse to go there and sit 15-20 minutes in line for a single burger that takes minutes to cook and throw on a bun in a wrapper, then only to be treated poorly at the window. I WOULDNT EVER RECOMMEND YOU TO GO THERE!!! Maybe try another location which takes pride in their customer service, quality of food and of course the main reason they are in business...The customers. read more

Visited this Brownsburg restaurant Monday evening at 6pm. Three tables were occupied and got seated quickly. We had five in our party, two adults and three grandkids ages 10, 8, and 6. Orders were taken and the wait began. Over 20 minutes to get food, Waitress never once checked back with us and finally, my husband had to leave so I stayed and had to catch our waitress eye for service. She was talking to another girl back by the food window. We wanted desserts so order was placed and had another 20 minute wait. I finally got up to go pay but saw our girl coming at us with the desserts so I told the kids to sit back down and enjoy. I made the comment that this was the worse service we have had in this place in a long time. The waitress got on the defensive and I said,"I know you think you are doing your best but 20 minutes for ice cream is too long a wait, I asked if something was broken (some ice cream machines do break down), and she said,"our milk shake maker is not here then left. Did leave our check finally. When I got to the cashier I stated I was displeased with the service tonight and she asked if I wanted to speak to the manager. I said "sure" so she left and went to the back. There were nine people waiting to be seated and the cashier,Sylvia said,"She's not here and I don't know where she went". I paid , said thank you and left. I worked in a hospital for 38 years and you know we were told when our service was not satisfactory, so I thought I would write and let you know it was not the A-1 service we have experienced in the past. we were taught how to handle complaints so our service could be improved. This is not enough to stop us from going back, but we will think twice about it. We love steak and shake and grandkids love it. We do expect to see improvement in the future. We were taught, to improve our service, we had to know where the problems were so we could correct them. The manager who was on duty was Donna. Did not ask for last name. I would like to receive a reply, so will await your return message Thank you. t Sincerely, Jane Rogers read more
