Friendly staff, excellent service. The food is prepared well and the restaurant is somewhat clean.

Showed up at 11:15 on Sunday morning. We were the only people in the restaurant. Visit was disappointing. No ice in drink machine. They did come out and fill on request. Ketchup was empty they did provide packs after waiting for someone to come out. No forks out to eat chili Mac. Had to wait 5 min for someone to come out and get them. The unsweet tea had sweet tea in it. Steak burger was good and the tots were really good. They seem understaffed to provide basic service. read more

Ngl, a lot of people(not gonna say who) say that the "no customer service policy" is a bad thing, but that doesn't mean the food will be affected by the lack of conversation. Just to wrap things up the food is great and don't judge a book by its cover read more

Friendly staff, clean, service was fast, and the food was hot and tasted great. They have the best sweet tea in town!

I mean... what is there to say? Steak and Shake is basically the epitome of the American dream. You just can't beat a greasy burger. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ We always get our food fast at this location and they are friendly. Frisco melt will forever have my heart. read more

What a joke! My last visit was over 20 years ago and had fond memories. BUT I must not understand the new NO CUSTOMER SERVICE policy at this restaurant. It took us several minutes to figure out how the order system works and when we asked for help, we were told to keep trying. After we figured out how to enter our order, we attempted to get our drinks and had to ask how to use the soda machine only to be told we needed a security code that was on our receipt. Once our food was ready and we had to go to the counter to pick it up, and found the fries cold and burgers just ok. CUSTOMER SERVICE is something that needs to be brought back! read more

Wow. Slow, no line. Can't understand a simple order.Fourth time repeat. Painful soul draining experience. Still got the order totally wrong. Wow. Even for a weekend crew, disastrous. The food was fair in the end after total reorder. Oversalted burger. Fries not fresh. read more

Great food, great shakes, great service every time! My daughter and I usually get shakes on Wednesdays after school, and all of the employees are so nice! read more

This place is unsanitary. Ordered a double but got a single. After eating almost half my sandwich I noticed this. Took it back and cook said no problem and just added someone's else's burger from grill while leaving my half sandwich next to grill. No refills on drinks. You have to show your bar code on receipt just to get the fountain to work. Employees unfriendly when they have made a mistake. read more

The dining room was open and the service was great!!! The manger guy was super nice. The restaurant was very clean. The food was so good and so inexpensive!!! I love those darn fries. I'll be back for sure read more

Walked over here in the rain from the hotel next door to order food. The door is locked at 830. Open until 10. Called and the girl answered the phone laughed at me through the glass. Wouldn't let me in. read more

Waited on the drive through for like 20 min their where only 2 cars informe, I opted to leave. Most of the times we try to come it takes for ever and their is no cars most of the time. read more

Stopped here for a quick bite at the drivethru after work. Was asked to wait a moment which seemed to turn into what seemed like 5-6 minutes. There was absolutely no one in the drivethru in front of me and three cars total in the parking lot. I waited until the guy on the speaker barked at me "what do you want"? What kind of service is that? I drove off. read more

Horrible service. Came here @8pm (they close @10pm) and went through the drive through. No answer. Drove around to look inside thinking they just closed early. Then I see 2 boys walking from the gas station back into the restaurant (the workers.) When I came up to the door, they were locked. A nice gentleman let me in. We both agreed it was intentional that the doors were locked. Apparently they both decided to take a break and close up early even though numerous people were trying to get in the restaurant? Then a 3rd guy appeared who was cooking, I didn't see him walking from the gas station. He was probably hiding from customers in the back or something cause I did not see him when I drove around the building. read more

Waited 20 mins in drive thru with 2 cars ahead of us at the speaker, one ahead of that. When not a single car moved the entire time, we opted to leave, only to drive around the building and see staff laughing and seemingly goofing off behind the register. This franchisee clearly needs to be more present in their business, and if I were corporate, I'd take a real close look at how this location is running your brand into the ground. read more

We were traveling through, saw Steak and Shake and thought we would try it. We don't have them in our state. It was raining and we jogged inside. I could immediately see the interior was under construction. A young male greeted us with a blasting voice, the inside is closed, drive through only unless we fu#%*d-up your order or if you have an online order.... We turned around, left the store and went to Culver's across the street where we were met with polite and welcoming staff. read more

This restaurant needs an exorcism and to be condemned. On every occasion the drive thru takes a minimum of 15 minutes. On the last occasion the woman on the speaker apologized for the wait as only two people were working and then proceeded to scream at the top of her lungs into the mic. We promptly left. Orders have been wrong, totals wrong, and don't even think about attempting to use a coupon. How is this place open? Please close so that something superior and competent can go in its place. read more

We had heard a lot of negative feedback about the Brownsburg on our town's various "chatter" groups on Facebook. We noticed today that the dining room was open and decided to stop in. The naysayers got it completely wrong. The service was excellent, the restaurant was sparkling clean and the food was quickly prepared and was delicious! Definitely recommend! 4 stars read more

I had been on the road for twelve hours and was looking to stop on the western side of Indianapolis for dinner. It seemed that almost every exit had a Steak 'n Shake and who am I to argue, so I stopped. I've eaten a great deal of Steak 'n Shake burgers over the years and thus I consider myself a connoisseur of their food items. I found the dining area to be clean, bright and open. The hostess who greeted us at the door, Jessica M, was extremely friendly, professional and efficient. She seated us and took our drink order. When she returned in nothing flat with the drinks, we gave her our food order. It didn't seem to take long for the food to arrive at the table, the food was as ordered and delicious. The bathroom was also clean and well maintained. The paper towel dispenser provided an adequate length of paper towel for hand drying. It was a wonderful eating experience and the waitstaff was tremendous. read more

Spent the day on Sugar Creek in Crawfordville on our way back home this exit was the first exit with food. So we decided on Steak 'n Shake. Order they the drive thru. When we go the the window I asked a question "which one is tea" the lady didnt answer again I asked which one was tea the lady said rudely that you ordered a large diet so the other o e is tea. Really I thought I ordered both drinks large ( I didn't say that, I was thinking it) she didn't give me time to say it. She shut the drivethru window. Rude. I was to tired and sore to get out of the car and go in and complain. Don't put your rude employees on the drive thru window put them in the back so none had to interact with them. read more

Don't go. The hostess acted as if we were bothering her phone conversation. We were not allowed to dine in. The kids are old enough to read and questioned why not since it said it on the sign outside we could. 2 other customers left because they were ignored. Shake machine was down and when we asked where our drinks were at she pointed and said "over there". It was self serve and I guess we were supposed to be mind readers. She was a Rude rude lady who did not want to be there. Hopefully she can find a job she likes someday. We need to pray for her. read more

Similar experience to the other reviewers. Sat in the drive thru for 20minutes with no one even responding to me. Pulled around and saw at least 3 employees talking and seemingly not working. It's apparent the management here is very poor, I'd suggest the owner to take a close look at how their staff treats customers... if they care about making money that is read more

Very rude, walked into an unlocked door, with no one at the counter, and used the restroom. I then proceeded to walk out and get bombarded with rude questions about how I got in and who let me in. Angry servers, understaffed. Went to pay my bill and stood and waited 10 minutes to pay while employees stared at me. Had Logan as a server last night with my kids and she literally snarled at us! As fond as I am of Steak 'n Shake's food, I disdain going to this location. The quality of service - always rendered by teens lacking in listening ability, social skills and preoccupied with entertaining each other instead of minding the store, is consistently dismal. Tonight, however, I was most pleasantly surprised and overwhelmed by the quality of service I was delivered at the drive-up by a gray-haired Asian-American gentleman. He greeted me most courteously, attentively took my order, confirmed with me it was correct, and when I picked-up and paid for my order at the window he was very gracious, wished me well in a very convincing manner, and even expressed to me his hope I would make a return visit to Steak 'n Shake again sometime. That, my friends, is top-notch customer service! I only hope the franchise owner of this location recognizes the value of this gentleman and how his actions can so positively affect one's perception of this restaurant. read more

Ok, so we all know that Steak 'n Shake has had a hit or miss reputation the past several years, most of the time being a miss. My hometown location in Mooresville had shut down for a while and has recently reopened. Me being relatively new to Brownsburg, decided to give the local location here a try. I was very impressed and reminded of the Steak 'n Shake of old. The lady at the drive-thru window was very kind and had a consistent smile on her face. Just gave off a cheerful vibe. The food was hot, like fresh type of hot and delicious. Of course this may be a one off experience, who knows for sure, but tonight was a great night to choose Steak 'n Shake! read more

Waited 30 minutes to get order taken. no chili Mac only hamburgers. no staff etc....placing a sign that the menu is limited due to staffing would be the respectful thing to do for customers. stop letting customers wait to find out no food that you all specialize. this place has been under staffed for too long. they need to pay more and get the place back up to par or shut it down. Don't use drive through here : completely screwes up order every time . No problem charging you but always shorts order or screws it up

If I could give this zero stars I would! We sat in the drive-through for about 15 minutes with only two cars in front of us when we finally got to the window to make our order the girl continued to tell us to "hold on" for another 10 minutes. She never took our order we finally left without ordering. It was a complete cluster, whoever was working at 7:41pm on 11/29/21 should be fired or trained in customer service. read more

Steak N Shake has long Indiana roots even though it is a national chain. It has served as a place that Grandpa takes you as a kid, late night drunk food as a young adult, and a cheap family breakfast as a parent. I am a fan of SNS because I can feed a family of four dining in cheaper than any other breakfast establishment - drive-thru or eat in. Yet, since everything is cheap, I always seem to order more stuff! C'est la vie. Last visit saw the chocolate chip pancakes! Highly recommend. They also make their eggs cooked to order and their hash rounds are very tasty with a little bit of country flavor. They also have breakfast sandwiches, but compared to the plated meals and especially the all you can eat pancakes, they are not a good value. However, when it comes to the drive thru, the breakfast sandwiches are very convenient, but I have never done the drive thru at this locale. Steak N Shake's service is cook to order so it is slow. Hard to believe, but the beef is actually raw before you order it, so it takes little while. And you can take my word for it that the eggs are actually in shells before they cook them, so serving them up takes a few extra moments than your average quick service place. The hot, hot food is well worth it. Especially for breakfast. I recommend eating in at this location for the service. Cheers! read more

Last minute decision for Mrs. Funk and myself to have a Steak n Shake Burger and Shoestring fries on a busy Thursday evening. The joint was not too crowded so... Simple and tasty doubles with cheese and the works, nice slice o'mater and onion with a crispy lettuce topper...it actually looked like the pic on the menu! The shoestrings could have been hotter but it wasn't a showstopper. Some H2O's with lemon and cups of coffee to finish, all served up by a fine and efficient young fellow. Some easy conversation and a relaxed meal with my beautiful bride and all for less than $9. Simple pleasures...sometimes ya get lucky! read more

What can I say...
