My husband and I stayed overnight at a Staybridge Suites in McLean on a Saturday night in mid-April, 2025; our adult daughter and her husband booked a separate room. We were on our way to a wedding in Potomac, MD on Sunday, and the closest hotels were in Tysons Corner VA or Bethesda MD. We selected this hotel primarily because it's an IHG hotel (where we have platinum membership in its reward program), its location, and very good review profile. This hotel offers apartment-style hotel suites with full kitchens, free wifi, and 42" HDTVs, and includes a free breakfast buffet. The website indicates that the hotel also offers 24/7 laundry, a fitness room, and seasonal pool but, while useful, we didn't use any of these. We were very pleased with our selection. The hotel was beautifully appointed and spotless, and it was clear that thought had gone into providing what travelers were most likely need. Our suite was huge, with two separate areas. One side included the sleeping area and the bathroom, while the other side was the kitchen and sitting area with TV. (Note that there are different room types. Our daughter and SIL said that their room was smaller). Check-in was effortless, with everything already ready upon our arrival. The check-in receptionist was friendly, and offered good recommendations for local restaurants. The breakfast buffet offered many hot and other choices, including scrambled eggs, sausages, diced sweet potatoes, hot waffles, oatmeal, breads/bagels/scones, fresh fruit (apples, bananas, oranges), and beverages (coffee, tea, juices). Foods were replenished regularly, except for the orange and pineapple juices (both of which dispensed only water). The neighborhood is urban, but the hotel is quiet and offers parking ($). There are walkable restaurants nearby. Our rating for this hotel would actually be 4.5 but a round-up to 5.0 seemed more appropriate than a downgrade. A few small things, the first two of which are related to communication. (1) we were surprised by our final bill which included a $10 charge for parking. While we were asked at check-in whether we needed a parking pass, it was never mentioned, and should have been, that there was a charge for that parking. (2) we're platinum members of IHG's Rewards Program, which is usually acknowledged at check-in with an offer of 500 loyalty points or a snack or drink. While not mentioned at check-in, I did find later that our account was credited with 500 points. (3) I had been sitting on the chaise lounger in the bedroom area, elevating my feet after a long drive. My husband called from the other side of the suite, and I swung my legs to get up to go there. This caused me to fall with a hard thud. It turns out that what I thought was a one piece chaise lounger (as in the living room area) was actually a chair and ottoman that fit together. When I tried to get up, the ottoman rolled and I fell between the two pieces. Not a major injury, but I do have some black and blue marks. I guess I should've turned on a light! read more

Super dirty, super old, not very friendly staff, the breakfast is so unhealthy with very limited options, the gym and laundry room not well maintained and not very clean. When you come into town and need to stay in a hotel, you want to stay somewhere reasonable and comfortable. Obviously the purpose of your visit dictates where you stay. Unfortunately, this trip was not one of pleasure, but of necessity. I came into town to support my best friend of 44 years during an extremely difficult time. So, how was the hotel? Perfect. This hotel was only 30 min from the Dulles airport and was $27 via Lyft. The hotel was reasonable $120/night and featured a full kitchen with each room. It was definitely clean and tidy. The staff was polite and helpful. This hotel was so close to a bunch of freeways.. while in town I had the opportunity to go 30 minutes into MD and visit with my brother (and celebrate and meet his 7th child!)... The point is this location fits opportunities in all directions. Oh. And free breakfast (and I don't mean Continental I mean eggs! Bacon! Yum! And a pool. There are several restaurants across the street and within walking distance. That was not a necessity to me but I did get doordash at one point and had a full fridge to store it. Important to many animal lovers... Dogs were welcome!!!!!! They also give you free popcorn which is a beautiful touch when you're by yourself and wanting a little warmth from home. The suite provided a stove top, full fridge and freezer, microwave, coffee pot, and toaster. Toaster. Basically all necessities were met. Plenty of comfy pillows as well. Modern, clean, spacious room, good location, friendly staff. We arrived through the lower entrance, so it was a bit confusing to take an elevator up to the lobby. A room key card is required to operate the elevators, adding a layer of security. Attempting to take an Uber or Lyft from the hotel was challenging, since the apps all wanted you to walk far from the hotel to a common pickup location...three attempts. read more

GM checked us in & she was warm, funny & inviting. 2 things were disappointing: The evening cocktail hour was only Mon-Wed. Seems super chintzy. Used to these complimentary receptions being Sun/Mon - Thursday. (We stayed Thursday-Saturday.) At least, they could offer it on Thursdays for elite IHG status holders. The breakfast. That was surprisingly bad. If you're going to have such little variety, make it mainstream appealing. I am only commenting on the hot foods. Friday was ok, plain omelette, plain potatoes, bacon. Fine. There was shredded cheese & sour cream & other toppings & we dressed everything up. Sat- omg. Undercooked diced sweet potatoes, with cinnamon. Why? Plain scrambled eggs, sausage. No salsa, cheese, sour cream, etc. like the day before. Eggs & sausage were fine, but the horrible potatoes, plus I am GF, so I don't eat cereal & bread. Our family loved staying at this hotel. We had a 2 bedroom suite on the 5th floor. It was very clean, the beds were comfy and the linens were soft. There are grocery stores close by so we took full advantage of our kitchen. We enjoyed fresh coffee downstairs and chose a few items to eat at breakfast. The staff was amazing, especially Jonathan and Angel. They always greeted us with a smile and answered all our questions. The hotel is within 15 minutes to DC and has many restaurants nearby. Spacious room with kitchen. Hot breakfast includes bacon and potatoes which actually tasted awful. It has been a while since I had a bad experience with hotels' breakfasts. King One Bedroom Suite. reserved. The check-in process was completed on my phone and computer. You will need to pick up the key card from the front desk which was waiting for me. Upon entry to the room, the first thing I noticed was the lighting. It is very dim. The next thing that I noticed was the the window sling panel curtains did not close all the way so at daylight the room is bright. There was 3 layers of curtain and it did not cut the light...sample image attached. Forgive me older 2016 cell phone photos. Comfortable bed. You can hear everything outside room. Parking is free. Many great accessories in the room. One thing that was annoying was that there were no USB ports for charging and more so be prepared with your charging block and everything a surge because of the limited outlets by the workstation. An Exceptional Hotel that Needs A Tech Upgrade This hotel is located in a prime location. The property is immaculate in every way and the staff was on their game. The rooms are not tech-friendly. There is a lack of USB outlets everywhere. I desperation, I found an outlet behind the TV screen after a frantic search for a USB connection to recharge my phone. This room was just not up to par with tech-friendly rooms that are offered by their competitors, Marriott for example. The in-house Wi-Fi connection in the rooms was not user-friendly at all. I am sorry that my review grade can't be higher because the hotel hits every mark in appearance and decor. This hotel would merit five stars if only they can bring in some very basic tech upgrades to at least be competitive with their competition. read more

Well, I'm an IHG member and Platinum Elite. I have frequented several Staybridge hotels and stay here specifically because of the high standard which I usually give 5 stars for. This certainly doesn't meet the mark. The hotel on the outside is beautiful. The lobby and dining area meets the Staybridge standard. Breakfast was great as was the coffee. Service was good. The building itself is old and refurbished. Trim is finished unprofessionally, obviously repaired from over use. Recent paint job spackled the floor. Bathrooms walls are old as well as the tubs which was a downer for me. Room 402 needs some attention. The fire alarm went off at 2am during the stay my first night. The next day the water heater had to be replaced and hot water was turned off for approximately 8 hours. Not sure if they are related but it was not a good first intro and certainly not a nice awakening at 2am. Thank you to the fire department for their prompt response. Cleanliness was sufficient but not meeting the Staybridge standard. Spots and dust everywhere. Ewww. I have to stay here for 3 more nights. I'm sure I'll survive. The complimentary lobby coffee was hot and fresh 24hrs a day, we stayed 3 nights and it was the perfect homebase for my band. The happy hour with free food, beer and wine was super impressive with a full salad bar and a different hot entree every day. Made use of the huge computer room with 6 computers and 3 laser jet printers. Staff was very accommodating and even provided me with a tabletop paper cutter for one of my pre-show projects. Very convenient (walking distance) to shopping, grocery, many different ethnic restaurants and a great independent cafe across the street. Rooms have full kitchens and some suites are true 1-bedroom suites. Hot lobby coffee will keep customers coming back. It is obvious that this hotel is well-managed. The hotel also has a conference room which was perfect for a quick meeting I needed to knock out while I was in town. Again, the staff made it happen. Nice work, Staybridge! This place is very welcoming. So far each night has been pleasant. I would warn you the parking is tight but other than that, I haven't found anything else that's a con. The room was very well laid out and very roomy. I love my king size bed! They have a small kitchen inside your suite as well, and a nice size living room. Breakfast was a wonderful experience! They offer breakfast at certain times during the week to the weekdays and some days they have a special (which is located on your calendar in the room). The person that stood out the most was the sweet lady that was cooking the omelets. I can be a little picky with how my omelets are cooked but she was willing to listen and it came out great! I was so pleased. They have everything from waffles to fruits so there is plenty of options for all ages! It was truly a pleasure to have stayed at this hotel and I would definitely recommend it to anyone!! read more

We live in the DC Metro area but, with winter weather in the forecast, wanted to spend the night at a place nearby the location of an early morning appointment to avoid travel issues. Staybridge Suites McLean/Tysons was in the perfect location at a good price -free breakfast included, which is always a plus in my book. The front desk check-in was swift and the staff was friendly, efficient, and welcoming. We had booked a 1 bedroom, 2 Queen bed room and opened the door to a fresh, clean, and inviting space. Once in the room we noticed we had been upgraded to a larger suite, a 2br, 2ba unit with 2 Queen beds in one room and 1 Queen bed in the other. This was a pleasant surprise and was very much appreciated. Refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven, dishwasher, sink, coffee maker, and 2- burner stove in the kitchenette, with dinnerware and utensils for 6. Basic cooking supplies also provided. We were only staying one night but I can see this would be a fantastic home base for a longer stay. The central, common area had a small sleep sofa, TV, and high top table. Each of the two bedrooms had a full bathroom with tub and plenty of towels and pillows. 2 queen size beds in one bedroom and 1 in the other. A TV in both bedrooms and a desk in the room with one bed. 4 fluffy pillows provided on each bed plus a nice comforter and mattress topper made for a good night's sleep. A complimentary package of microwave popcorn plus hot chocolate mix, tea, and coffee were provided in the kitchen, as were pleasant bathing supplies in each bathroom (soap, shampoo, etc.). Dishwasher detergent and dishwashing liquid were provided in the kitchenette, along with paper towels and dish cleaning / drying towels. This hotel was clean and lovely. If we have friends or family visiting the area we would be very happy to recommend this hotel. We are getting ready to go on a family road trip this summer and you can bet I'll be looking for Staybridge Suites along our route. read more

This hotel is a solid 4 stars and consistently better than others in the area. I've stayed here over 20 times in the last 18 months and will continue to be my go-to. If you can't afford the Ritz, want to avoid a Motel 6, and are looking for something high quality within budget - this is the place. Men, your wife will be happy and your kids will be safe. THE GOOD: The hotel and your room are always clean. There isn't even a hint of mildew, stains or nasty in the rooms or bathrooms. Rooms are modern and are like efficiency units or better, depending on the number of beds needed. Each room has a kitchen, appliances and crockery that are fully functional. Beds and pillows are comfortable. TV works and couches are all pull-outs. Some rooms have separate bedrooms. Overall, this room experience is top notch. The staff is always pleasant and reliable, parking is ample (there is even a parking garage in the back), neighborhood is good, the gym is sparse but rarely used, indoor and outdoor pools are good enough, washers and dryers work, there is a pleasant and covered outdoor picnic garden area in the back, and the breakfasts offer a decent variety of something other than carb garbage. There are walkable restaurants and a grocery store right around the corner, all of which are clean, safe, and plenty decent. A long-term, comfortable stay is easy. Usually, three times per week (Tues-Thurs) the hotel offers some good-enough FREE dinner. If you're trying to save money and hassle, it's a good option. The cost: most times of the year a room is anywhere from $88 to $110, but can get more expensive in the summer. If you're willing to drive, shopping at Tyson's or DC sights aren't far away. THE BAD: Beyond the first floor, ceiling height is criminally low. I'm 6'5" and have banged my head on exit signs and lights repeatedly. Not a little, but a lot, to the point that I have to pause and see if I broke a sign or my head. I'm not sure how the hotel can get an occupancy permit at this height, and honestly, it's flat out unsafe for tall people who shouldn't need to look up when they walk in addition to avoiding anything that may be on the ground. In addition to standard breakfast fare (waffles, cereal, muffins, pastries, etc.), fruit, eggs and bacon are also offered for breakfast. It's all much better than breakfast at other hotels with one exception: the bacon disappears within minutes and takes 20-30 minutes to get refilled. I've stayed here over 20 times, always in different rooms, and about 1/2 to 1/3 of the time the toilet clogs after some non-aggressive use. I'd argue this is systematic enough to be a broad concern. Room doors have a heavy closure spring. Any movement from your neighbors at night will result in a very heavy slam. This isn't the stairwell, but the room doors. It's frustrating to be startled awake if your neighbors are active. read more

Always my very first choice when I go to McLean because I love the location and the "tiny apartment" feel. The lobby is comfortable, fireplace and plenty of tables to set up an "office" space and work all day if you need to. Complimentary wine hour in the evening and complimentary breakfast in the morning with a DIY waffle maker that's delicious, plenty of fruit and yogurt and decent-ish coffee, but hey, it's free. An easy, safe walk to dozens of different stores and restaurants. The price fluctuations depending on demand are pretty big. Can be $129 on night and $329 the next so try and book as early as possible. read more

It was quite satisfying. One thing I would like to make a note of and that is the Customer Service that was received, both the days at the breakfast area. The first day, assuming that the breakfast is served till 11am instead of 10:30am, we got there around 10:30am. We requested the incharge up there if she could get us some bread as there was none there, only if possible, since we were late and breakfast was supposed to be over, only to receive our request being granted, along with a big apology which was not required. Not only did Hind or Hint (sorry for misspelling her name) was so professional and courteous, she had a very pleasing smile on her face rather than giving us an upset look for showing up so late. read more

The bed in our room was unbelievably comfortable, and I am usually unhappy with any bed not my own. The rooms were clean and nice, and I was able to stay with my cats (we were in the middle of a move.) The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The shuttle driver offered to take us anywhere we needed to go, and gave us his hotel business card to contact him when we wanted to come back. Since our house is currently a construction zone, we were given a gift certificate from family members so we could spend a weekend away from the plastic sheeting, power tools, and gaping walls we call home. while it's your average long stay hotel, the service was nice, facilities clean, but their best feature is the location. our one bed suite was roomy, had two super flat screen TVs, living room area, and an outdated mini-kitchen. the kitchen had dark 80's style cabinets and appliances which is odd, since the hotel was built like last year. anyways, it had plenty amenities inc. a laundry room, and a nice outdoor courtyard with sweet BBQ grills and a pool. also free breakfast with a make-your-own waffle station. love those waffles! they even have an omelet chef on weekends. the problem with hotels in major business districts is that there's never a grocery store nearby when you need it. grrrrrr! best part of this place is it's walking distance to restaurants and esp. a grocery store just one block away. so it won't take you hours to schlep food back to your room, and more bonus points to Staybridge for having my favorite sushi place, Ichiban, just across the street. not much nightlife - it's the burbs, but a couple of bars and a liquor store nearby if you need something to take the edge off. only a few miles from the main Tysons area, they also have a shuttle to the metro, etc... to get you downtown or where ever you need to go. nice for families too, not just for business folks. just make sure your kids don't eat all the waffles. i was ready to have a smackdown with a 12 year old till the hotel staff intervened. i could've taken him... read more

When trying to prepay for a night's stay for our guest in town, my husband left his driver's license in the car and just wanted the front desk to take his credit card and process the payment. I stayed here just for a rest period of about 7 hours between jobs. I got the room and checked in online. Very easy. Upon arrival there is very limited parking. Very limited. My family was having a family reunion. During one of our reunion days it poured down raining all day. Due to the rain we were unable to utilize the park space we rented as planned. We therefore had to make last minute changes. Staybridge allowed us to utilize their lobby space as our gathering space for the day. I had a pleasant experience here. It's located just a few minutes from the new McLean metro station. Stayed 4 nights. Check-in and check-out were relatively seamless. A pretty comprehensive breakfast was provided, as well as free dinner (with alcohol!) at night. The dinners weren't really my style, so I never tried any of the food, but I did enjoy the complimentary wine. My room was clean and comfortable. Paper was delivered every morning and staff was friendly and happy to offer food vouchers for a nearby restaurant and transportation advice. I made use of the free shuttle on a daily basis and with the exception of one slight miscommunication, it worked out perfectly. The front desk even arranged a taxi for me upon my departure. It's not the Four Seasons, but I'd recommend this hotel. read more

I have stayed here a couple times when I have been in the area for business and absolutely love it. Having a real kitchen in the rooms is great and the separated bedroom and living rooms in the room make it a nice home away from home. The do a happy hour thing daily with free hood and what not which is nice to come back to at the end of the day. Kinda a nice chance to meet some new people who are also in the area for work and such. The breakfast's on the weekends with prepared eggs how ever you want it is great. I like that they provide the little mini-store in the lobby for all the little extra things you made need and perhaps forgot to bring with you. If you are flying into town its perfect cause it allows you to leave all the things the TSA won't let you bring in your carry on bags. This is huge for me because I hate checking bags when I am just doing a quick trip in for a couple days. read more

I think that a more apt name for this place should be the "Stay-Away-Bridge Suites". This place is conveniently located near where I had some business down in Tysons Corner, VA. From the outside, the facility appeared clean and it should have been a great place to stay. Let's start -- They don't have enough parking! I had to illegally park just to get my room. They had underground parking which I'm sure is awesome when it's snowing, but it was a gigantic pain in the butt the night I was there. The room was big and everything was clean. The bathroom was clean, but if you're taller than 5'8 you'll need to hunch down while you are in the shower. Also, the faucet in the bathroom was one of those twist to keep on you find in your local gas stations. Really low class. This place was expensive, but absolutely nothing special. There are plenty of other choices. Unless they're full I'd suggest exploring them first. Bonus suckage: So going through their amenities book...I ordered food from a restaurant that turned out be a one-star Yelp review. I don't blame them...it just seems consistent with my crummy experience here. I will not be staying here again. read more

I occasionally stay at this hotel whenever I am in the area for business or visiting family. I always had a pleasant time, but will not be staying at this hotel again. Upon the end of the evening reception, I was in the hallway walking back to my room with a slice of left over pizza and a cup of soda when I was stopped by the men working at the front desk. The two men who I'm assuming were managers demanded to know my name and room number and I felt that I was discriminated because they did not believe I was a guest of the hotel. I felt very uncomfortable and embarrassed as I fumbled in my purse for a few moments while the two men watched over me and talked about me on their walkie talkies. Eventually I found my key card and presented it to the two men who still did not believe I was a guest. This was terrible customer service and I felt unwelcome as a young woman at this hotel. read more

I made the mistake of staying here for one night in February and based on my experience I will not be returning to this Staybridge. I had to wait several minutes at the front desk before I was acknowledged by an employee at this Staybridge. After I checked into my room, I noticed a large piece of hair on the bathroom sink area. I know this was not my hair as I had just checked into my room and I am bald. I also noticed several toes or finger nails on the carpet of my room and these are still there as I refuse to perform duties that should be completed by the paid housekeeping staff (see photo). I tried to use the wake-up feature on the phone but it is not functioning. For some reason the refrigerator in my room is making a knocking noise. I hope that it is not a frig ghost that will haunt my dreams as I try and sleep tonight and dream of leaving this Staybridge and not returning. The office chair in my room is peeling after apparently spending too much time in the hot Virginia sun (see photo). I expected a modicum of cleanliness in my room for the money I paid but apparently this is too much to ask. Do yourself a favor and take your business elsewhere! read more

I stayed at Staybridge recently because my house flooded. I have heard many great things about this hotel so I thought it would be a great fit for me and my family. Upon arrival, the check in staff was very friendly. The room I was staying in was very pleasant and clean. However, a few days into my stay one of the staff, Jonathan, who I think was one of the managers rudely asked me if I was staying at the hotel while I was speaking to some of the other hotel residents. He had seen me multiple times walking into the hotel with my family too. I had another encounter with that same staff member where I had lost my hard drive and when I asked if someone turned it in, he said no and that he had checked the area earlier and did not see anything. However, I went back to look for myself and there it was sitting right next to the computer. I will never go back to stay at Staybridge again due to this specific staff member unhospitable behavior. Away from home for two weeks staying in Staybridge Mclean. This place is a great choice to stay in the center of shopping and business area. Walking distance to shopping grocery, restaurants, coffee shop, banks and etc.. Even this hotel is not that huge, but full of amenities we are looking for such as outdoor pool, business center, gym, and even laundry room (Super!!). Moreover, all staffs are super nice, always helpful with the warm smiles. We were out for work most of the time, however once we walk in--housekeeping people always done their great jobs. We are having a relax time over here, just feel like home. read more

I don't even know where to start! When I checked in the staff was courteous and quick. When I got to my room it was a dream. One of the largest suites I have ever stayed in. Great view, comfortable beds, spacious living room, full kitchen, just perfect! Then we got to have complimentary beer, wine, and tacos the first night. The next night it was the same but pizza and chef salad. I checked the calendar and apparently this is a weekly thing. They have dinner and drinks for their guests in the middle of the week all included! The dining area downstairs also has juice, soft drinks, and coffee 247. If that isn't enough they have a pretty extensive pantry, only missing alcohol but there is a supermarket within a 5 min walk as well as many bars, restaurants, and shops. It was literally 7 miles from DC which was very convenient. Breakfast was amazing each morning as well. Well stocked with lots of variety and a real homemade feel. Bacon, sausage, cornbeef hash, waffles, omelets, scrambled eggs, hard boiled eggs, yogurts and pastries, and even garnishes for the eggs like cheese, salsa, and veggies. The business center has all new Macs plus a printer copier. There is a pool and even though it was too cold to use the area looked well kept and luxurious. I had an amazing stay. What an amazing room for a totally reasonable price! Spacious and everything looks brand new. Several good restaurants and coffee shops within very easy walking distance. Plus quite close to a metro stop. Makes me wish I could stay longer! read more

Beware this place is not really pet friendly. We were delighted to find a nice, if pricey king suite here going into the fourth day without power, heat or water. We were accompanied by our friendly corgi. We were with her at all times with the exception of an hour for dinner between 8 and 9 pm and at breakfast between 9;30 and 10:15 am. Ie. not times when most people would be sleeping. At no time when she was with us did she bark and we never heard her barking when we left or returned to the room. We had previously been three nights in a Hyatt in Herndon with no complaints. As we were leaving breakfast I stopped to inquire about a second night. The lone, young, female desk clerk was being aggressively interrogated by a middle-aged man complaining of a dog "barking all day." She was trying to explain to him that it was a dog friendly venue and did not indicate to him that there had been other complaints or that she thought it was actionable. I assumed it was some other dog, since an hour and 45 minutes is not "all day,''assuming she even barked. When I called later about the room I was asked whether we had a dog and then told no rooms were available. She later said she did have a room if we got rid of the dog. So buyer beware. Too bad otherwise would be a nice place to stay with your pet. read more
