I regretfully trusted outdated reviews and chose Nicole Barrera at Station Row based on her bio claiming expertise in "fashion forward hair trends". Despite showing her images of curtain bangs, her work resulted in SHORT choppy, unflattering side bangs that aged me. Though a refund was issued, I'm disappointed in the outcome and wish I had made a more informed choice. The salon is very nice clean, she was gentle with my hair and personable. read more

Wasn't friendly with disabled people, I came in saying I was deaf hoping that they will try to write something down that they can try to work with me or not so I can easily walk out of door, instead they spoke me after knowing I don't have an ability to hear. If you're disabled or deaf, don't go there it'll save your time alot. read more

I was very excited to get my hair cut with Nathaly at Station Row and at my first visit I was shocked by the lack of warmth from both the salon staff and Nathaly. Nathaly hardly greeted me and asked me what kind of hair cut I wanted. Since this was my first time having her cut my hair I started to describe the cut (which is very low maintenance) and she immediately cut me off and said 'how many inches' she then proceeded to cut my hair in complete silence. She was rough with my scalp and dug the comb into my scalp and dug into my scalp with her finger nails. I've never been treated like that at a salon! Overall my hair cut was ok I wasn't blown away- probably because she didn't bother listening to anything I had to say. Regardless I left her a tip but I'll never return to this place again. TLDR: I would avoid Nathaly she's not friendly and doesn't care to listen to you. The staff isn't friendly. Just don't bother. read more

Andy is the absolute best! He's been doing my hair for 20 out of my 25 years. He is amazing at layering my thick hair to make it lie flat. He listened to what I wanted, executed flawless color, and promised me it would grow in looking good. I waited a few months before writing this review and am happy to report that he delivered. I usually don't write reviews, but as I came to this salon based on reviews alone, I thought it pertinent to share my experience. I had very long hair and decided to cut off a foot of it. I went in for an initial consultation and decided to go for it, as I've been sitting on this decision for ages. My stylist ended up cutting my hair once then I asked her to cut more as it was looking a bit too polished for my liking. The salon doesn't typically donate hair, I ended up taking it home to do it myself. In the end, I LOVE my haircut and have gotten many compliments- so no complaints there. What I did notice was the behavior of some other stylists, which I found unprofessional. One woman yelled at her colleague in front of all the staff and had a really awkward confrontation. The entire salon fell silent at that moment. Another sneered at me then looked away when I gave him a puzzled look. That same person was bad mouthing other clientele with his customer. It all felt very immature. My stylist hardly made an attempt to speak to me, I wonder if she was annoyed I asked her to recut or she was afraid of her colleagues. Who knows. Even though I love the haircut, I won't be going back because of the unwelcoming, closed and catty energy. read more

Jenn Allbritton is likely the best hairstylist I've ever met! I rarely truly satisfy with my hairstyle. I have really dense and dark hair. They grow out really fast but in a different speed at different parts. It's really hard to pick a hairstyle that's not boring (other than long straight hair) but fits me. Jenn was cutting my boyfriend's hair and he introduced her to me earlier this year. I've been loving her ever since. Jenn listens to the look/feel that I'm looking for, and she gives her advices based on my hair type/face shape/personality. She even takes my daily bustling routine into consideration and recommends me how I can create the "salon" look at home. Hi it's me, the lady who came in for a balayage and left with a sloppy bleach job and a big blond hyena like spot. Which was "fixed" the next day but definitely is still there. Jokes aside. I came to this salon because I'd heard good things and I'm sure there are very talented stylists here. My stylist was not only sloppy(I'm wiping bleach of my face and pointing out where it may have accidentally bled) but she also did not hear me. Treated me as though I knew nothing about what needed to be done to my hair. When I came in to fix the cut and the color, she decided to color the spot darker. It didn't work and it didn't help. I left with orange hair and what look like poorly placed highlights. It seemed like she just didn't give this any thought and just wanted to get through the session. I arrived at Station Row with my hair in a bit of a mess -- grey roots, the orangeish remnants of a brunette dye job, and stringy ends. No judgment from Carlos Santiago -- he was super friendly, listened carefully to my hair history, habits & preferences, and offered great advice. He gave my hair a nice natural-looking color with a gentle dye, cut it to just the right length, and worked some magic with the flat-iron that gave it lovely body (and the cut air-dries nicely, too). He's a gifted artist -- that's his modernist still-life painting in the reception area -- and it shows in his hair styling. Station Row has a nice atmosphere. It's bright, people are in a good mood, and the salon is always clean. I've had my hair cut several times with stylist Christine Herbst. The first time I went in, I showed her a picture of what I wanted my hair to become, and she made it happen. And when I went back later on for another cut, Christine knew what I wanted before we even got started. She's polite, very friendly, and like a magician with scissors. My friend, Demetri, is my stylist, and I would follow him anywhere. But I'm so glad that he has been ensconced at Station Row since it opened its doors a few years back. Demetri is the rare stylist who excels at both color and cutting. He really listens to what I'm looking for, and he's not afraid to offer his opinion. I get so many compliments on my hair after seeing Demetri--and not just after I walk out of the salon. His cuts are so good, that my hair somehow keeps its shape in between visits. Shelli-Rose is the ABSOLUTE BEST! So, without question, I followed her from a salon in Cambridge to Station Row. Let me begin by saying that I am incredibly particular (I'll even admit, mildly obsessive) about the way my hair looks. Since the age of 5, I cannot remember a time where I did not burst into tears as soon as I left a salon. Then, 3 years ago, I found Shelli-Rose, and she totally just gets it. She knows what I want even when I'm incapable of articulating it (and the end product is always even better than what I picture it will be). She understands hair type and what is most flattering (I have even come to let go a little and let her do what she thinks is best-- something entirely unheard of for me). And color... She is a color GENIUS! I don't know how else to say it. I have been coloring my hair for 18 years and she is, far and away, the best colorist to ever touch my head. I love the interior of the salon, but the main reason I go to Station Row is for Carlos. Carlos has been cutting my hair for 3 years and I've been living in NYC for 2 of those years. Yes, that means I make an appointment every time I visit my family in Boston. Maybe it's a little crazy, but he's worth it! My hair always looks wonderful after a visit with Carlos! Carlos is extremely talented and I trust his opinion over my own. Last time I saw Carlos, I wanted to cut my hair really short. Carlos did not agree with me because 1. he's the expert and knows what looks best and 2. he knows it is out of character for me to cut my hair short. He said he would cut my hair to the length he thought was best and if I wanted it shorter, he would do it. Boy am I glad I listened to him! She was open to all the pictures I showed her, she explained in detail about the style, upkeep and how to style before she even started cutting. I loved it! I felt informed and safe in going towards a way shorter extreme cut. I asked for an inverted bob and it is beautiful. Hopefully I can post pics of before and after on this! My hair had great swing, color and angel to it. She made me feel 10 years younger. What a treat to have someone who is so passionate about her job these days! I don't know much but I do know that you should go see Jenn Allbritton at Station Row Salon. I moved to Massachusetts in 2014 and had extreme difficulty finding a stylist that I could trust. I went to many and by the time I found Jenn my hair was in rough shape; the type of shape that can only come from getting over 10 terrible haircuts back to back with the resulting mullet feel. I've now been to Station Row twice. Everyone is pleasant, the staff clearly loves what they do, and they give a fun, relaxed vibe. The decor is minimalistic, very natural, bright and sunny.
