Ok. How have I not reviewed Kenneth Wildes before now?!…read more I have been going here for 7 years, and am so glad I started. I used to see Shawneen, and now see Emily. I cannot say enough great things about either one of them. Both do an amazing job - I ALWAYS get compliments on my hair for WEEKS after my cuts. I put my head in their hands and trust them to style me in a way that works, and they always have. We have a great conversation, but can also sit in silence if we want. The staff is always friendly and professional, but not in a stuffy way. Things have obviously changed since the pandemic. I used to sit in the entry way while waiting, where they had a big container for water, and sometimes even snacks. Now you walk in and get taken to the sinks immediately. But I'm still always offered something to drink.

My father, girlfriend (now wife) and mother have since also become guests - Daniel's kind word in lieu of "client" trope - and one thing is clear, he is amazing. My mom was always worried about going to the stylist before, but now says she "trust[s] him with everything". I'm in the same boat. Not only is Daniel a classic tale of American success - he was also trained as an electrical engineer who ended up as a stylist. His heart is bigger than most, too. BUYER BEWARE!! I…read morehave been going to Moxie for 3 years. Every 11 weeks, like clockwork, I get a foil and cut. Even though Kerry is the owner I still tip. So after approximately 14 visits (of around $200 per visit) I made a fatal mistake. I screwed up my calendar and missed my appointment. Kerry called and left me a message. I called right back. I called back 2 more times. Due to the timing it's also my birthday. I found out my MIL called and left FIVE messages (trying to buy me a gift certificate.) KERRY NEVER CALLED BACK ONCE. I drove to the shop to see if it was open and she was ok! Yep, she's just ignoring me. She ghosted me because I made 1 mistake in 3 years. Her voicemail message to me was, "You're never late and it's 10 minutes past your appointment time ..." So guess what I now know: 1) one strike, you're out is her unwritten/unspoken policy 2) she won't even give a courtesy call to explain her unwritten policy (there is nothing on her website and no sign in her shop) One bone of contention I've had: - when I first started going to Moxie I got reminder calls - they just stopped and on at least 2 occasions I called the shop to see if my appointment was still scheduled - in today's digital / social age I get reminders from EVERYONE I deal with (doctor, dentist, Pilates, massage, etc.) Kerry: IF YOU'RE GOING TO BE INTOLERANT OF SCHEDULING MISTAKES then put your money where your mouth is and use a reminder system -- I'd have never missed my appointment if I'd received a reminder. And, while I found out the hard way / now have 14 weeks of roots, I'm happy to now see Kerry's character. I have no interest in giving my business to someone who is intolerant and uncooperative.

She is absolutely amazing! My highlights and hair have never looked better, and I'm quite particular. She is truly an artist, her color is spot-on and beautifully done. There also is no double-booking, she takes her time and is very detailed. Plus her cuts are great as well, and it's hard to find someone who can both cut and color. The salon itself is super cute, relaxing and elegant, with a nice cozy vibe. If you're a blonde, this is the place to go, Kelly is unbelievable! Jamie is one of the stylists at J.Stevens salon in Newtonville and he's great! I found out about…read morehim by reading reviews about local stylists on citysearch.com. He got excellent reviews so I figured he was worth trying. Well, I was very glad that I did because my experience with him was very positive..he spent a long time looking at my hair and asking me questions before doing any cutting. The end result was a stylish bob that grew out very well. Since that first time, I've been back to see Jamie for a few haircuts and a partial foil and have always been pleased with the results. Jamie's expertise in coloring is particularly notable...I am very very fair-skinned and, before finding Jamie, I had highlights done at Dellaria (in Newton Ctre.) that were too ashy for my skin tone. The stylist at Dellaria just went for the blondest she could go on my hair without really considering my coloring. When I went to Jamie, he took about 15 minutes to talk about color with me and about what kind of highlights would compliment my skin tone. He decided on two different colors that were golden and were a much better match with my skin. The end result was very complimentary to my skin tone and I no longer looked washed out. My highlights also grew out very well and did not turn brassy after only a month the way they used to. Finally, Jamie has a wonderful personality. I would say that he is a "gentle soul." He is very kind and patient and there is no pretense about him despite the fact that he is so good at what he does. He seems to really care about his clients and I always feel comfortable sitting in his chair. As long as I live around here, I'll continue to go him!

Jamie's the only person i will trust to do anything to my hair!…read more I found him about 3 years ago on city search because my hair was a complete mess. i'm talking asian teen going blonde and it went horribly wrong kind of mess. haha. i was looking for someone who knew what they were doing and was NOT located in chinatown. i was under the assumption that asian people knew how to cut/dye asian hair and boy, was i wrong. at the time, Jamie was at J. Stevens salon out in Newton, a bit of a hike, but i figured it was worth a shot. When i phoned to make the appt (it was Jamie who picked up), i inquired about pricing because i didn't have all that much to shell out. he quoted me a fair price and it is still the same price i pay now when i see him, 3 years later. it's been a while so i don't quite remember exactly how that initial appt went. but my hair went from being dry, damaged and horribly colored to healthy, shiny and strong and I LOVE IT. he'll always ask what color/cut you want and walks through it with you to make sure you're both on the same page. and if you want something new, but not sure what, he's got lots of ideas. i feel awesome when i leave. i'd recommend him to everyone, though some are not willing or able to pay his prices. but *i* am! Jamie is easy-going, open-minded, easy to talk to and an amazing colorist. visits are always relaxing and enjoyable. that reminds me...i'm due for a visit soon. *makes note to self* :)
