I went to Stateside before going to a yelp event. I felt pretty much ignored by the wait staff. Like I was sitting at one of the seats and had to go up to the bar to order and also ended up putting the cup back at the bar area when I was done. The place was empty which made absolutely no sense for their lack of attention. I ordered the dirty filthy little chai. It was delicious. There is something about this drink that even when I ordered without alcohol made it taste amazing. I was told it had pumpkin and this masala chai from Chaikhana.

Food Coming from LA, my local brother brought us here for a few drinks. For the cocktail, i got the bring back dollar dog nights signature cocktail, which uses a strawberry stateside vodka base. The actual cocktail was pretty good and refreshing as well with just the right amount of alcohol and the fruity flavor comes through on my palate. We also got a variety of canned vodka sodas and iced tea vodkas, specifically, watermelon and peach vodka sodas and raspberry and peach iced tea vodkas. I liked all of them as they were refreshing and hit you with just the right amount of alcohol. Service/Ambiance The place itself is relatively small but it has enough seating on either some dining tables or the bar itself. On a saturday night, it wasn't too packed and filled up just right for me. There is a live DJ on that night, so the vibes of the place was pretty good for the casual drinking that we did. We got our drinks in good time too, so overall I would recommend this place

we had some time to kill before an event and walked in . It's a really cute space and the bartenders were extremely nice. My cocktails were fantastic. Don't eat here, eat literally anywhere else. I'm pretty sure the cheesesteak eggrolls were taken out of a packet and microwaved briefly - yup, it looked bad and tasted worse.

Out of town friends so enthralled by the amazing flavors of Surfside and they don't even like drinking tea. I was already coming here all the time to get their sodas after my dude fell in love with them in Delaware restaurants and bars and whaaaat we have it right here in Philly and can buy it by the casesssss Anyways So when they were coming back in town of course I had to race down to pick up a big order. Surf's Up!! . Showed up just in time for a tour and yeahhhhh I love learning why things are awesome and how things are made and why thy are going to crush USA with their vodka teas and soda. Get it!!!

Did the tour with Simon. It was AWESOME!!!! He was knowledgeable and tolerated the multitude of questions we peppered him with. Then we hung out for a bit at the bar and Emily and Elizabeth answered more questions. Emily sent me home with a care package to get me started after all my questions. We have found a new vodka. And we have found a new bar!!!

Great atmosphere and even better drinks, drinks were made quick and delicious. Reasonable prices as well!

Stateside! Worth the trip on the El up to Fishtown! The really fun way to do it is to go on the tour ($15, only on Saturdays), and then stay for a cocktail or two. Make a reservation for weekends! Tables go fast. During the tour they show you around the distillery and talk about the history and process of the business, then you can sample some vodkas too. I actually don't really like vodka, I find the taste kind of boring, but I really enjoyed sitting and drinking here. They have dozens of flavors, so it's fun to just sit and get a sampler flight and try the four infusions that are the most interesting to you. They have normal infused ones like apple or rosemary but also strange ones like pickle. It's a unique way to spend a weekend day. The crowd is on the younger side and it's all shiny lights and metallic accents in here. Good for an activity during the day or a drink before dinner.

The spiciest drinks. But so worth it. It's a staple when my parents visit. Ingredients are so so fresh. A smridge pricey but well worth it.

My friends and I planned to come here around the start of the pandemic and of course that got cancelled. We finally made it happen this weekend - and I have to say that I'm sorry it took us soo long! What a fantastic place. We bought groupons for the tour (who knew groupon was still around?!? haha). We got a drink and then headed into the production facility to learn about how their vodka is made. Our tour guide Russo was fantastic. The tour was really informative and everyone in our group thought it was great. A free shot of Stateside vodka was included w the price too! We stuck around afterwards for some drinks in the tasting room. When the tasting room is open - they can't be running production - due to liquor laws. They also are not allowed to have a kitchen - so they have snacks to serve like humus and chips and Elios pizza. But you really don't come here for the food. The drinks have creative names and each one we tried we liked. They even have beer for the non vodka drinkers. My boyfriend enjoyed a Human Robot beer that is local to the Kensington area. (need to try that brewery next). Def gonna make my way back here again!

Great happy hour drinks! Snacks are subpar, but they really don't skimp on the alcohol.

My two favorites are Born Again and Buck 48. The Born Again is a clarified punch that's super refreshing--almost leaning tart, but in a really good way. The Buck 48 is also refreshing, with warm, spicy notes that give it an autumn vibe, though honestly, it's great any time of year. If you're in the mood for something bold and boozy, I also recommend The Golden Ticket. My palate leans away from anything overly sweet or overpowering--I appreciate balance--and every cocktail I've had here hits just right. The only sad thing is that my favorite bartenderess is no longer there, but the staff is still awesome, and the music is always on point, which keeps the vibe strong. Just a heads-up: this cocktail bar is upstairs from Sassafras, and the menus are completely different. If you're looking for a true craft cocktail experience, make sure you're upstairs at 48 Record Bar. The atmosphere is great. I usually go on Saturday nights around 8 p.m. and have been lucky to grab a seat, though it definitely gets more crowded later. The fact that I've been back several times says a lot--especially since I usually only visit a place once with so many options in the city.

Huge bar, giant wall of liquor bottles, dim lighting, and a cool old-school vibe. I told the bartender that ordering a beer in a place like this felt like I was insulting him. He laughed and told me not to worry about it. The drink special was called "Naked and Famous," which honestly sounded like the perfect cocktail to order in honor of Jen. But then I spotted a dark beer on the menu that sounded too good to pass up. If you follow me, you know I'm slowly becoming a dark beer guy. I liked it a lot. The sandwich special was a cheesesteak. Sorry, I should've taken a picture of the menu. But I really enjoyed it, and for $18 it came with a mountain of seasoned fries, which feels like a bargain these days. Bomb Shell: the two people working absolutely crushed it. I don't know if they were understaffed or if Monday night got busier than expected, but they were working their tails off the entire time. Even with that, they stayed polite, friendly, helpful, and incredibly accommodating to the guy carrying around a mannequin. Great visit to Sassafras!

Finally someone came out to greet me and seated me in the middle are. He had to put some paper at the bottom of the table because it was a bit wobbly. A lot of choices in the menu. I ordered guacamole and chips for appetizers and it came out right away. The chips are fresh and not stale. Good amount of guacamole. Street corn aka elote. The corn is juicy. Unfortunately, it was not enrobed with mayo and cotija cheese as a typical elote should be. Fried plantain: not many slices. They are dry and not sweet . I was hoping for more ripe plantain Birria tacos: small tacos, the consommé lacks of depth of flavor. I could only taste saltines. The waiter asked if I wanted rice and beans. I said only beans. It's basically mashed refried beans. I wasn't aware that it costs extra $4. My husband ordered this dish served in half pineapple. It has chorizo and shrimp. Again , lacking depth of flavor, very salty. Service was great. The staff is friendly. Credit card is accepted but with a fee. There's an ATM if you prefer to pay with cash.

Everything on the menu that we had was delicious; however, the carne asada taco portion was a little small so make sure you order a side of rice and beans. For dessert, the churros were to die for: they came with ice cream too! We don't order dessert too often but I was so glad we did! The space is HUGE and there was no problem getting sat right away on a Saturday night. They do turn it into a dance club at night so we'll have to go back. Servers are nice and attentive and we will definitely be back!

I guess I shouldn't be surprised, since they are located right about Ogawa (also amazing)! We tried the omakase cocktail, which was really fun and creative. The toro was also a standout, although how can you go wrong with toro, uni, and caviar? The wagyu dog itself was great, but the roll it was on was dry. In my opinion, the bread makes or breaks a sandwich, so points off for that one. The ambiance was cozy, if a little dark at times. I also thought it would be great if they asked about your taste, favorite cocktail, etc to truly customize the drink. Instead they don't ask about your preference, just if you want shaken vs stirred and to pick a season. So I'd recommend sticking to the actual menu . Other than that the food menu was fun. The main dining room is pretty narrow without much in the way of decor, and I think more could be done to help the space pop, but as always the food is my main concern in the end. The complimentary crunchy corn snack for the table was a nice surprise! We ordered an app, a ceviche, and four entrees to share between the six of us and found that plenty filling. The Yuca Frita app was tasty with a delicious dip we held on to, but I wish it came with more as six pieces felt small for the price. The Ceviche Mixto was a more solid portion with a great variety of seafood; it was on the tart side but came with a really nice cilantro sauce that the table ate clean. Out of our entrees, the Lomo Saltado was the highlight with well-cooked and tender chunks of steak and yummy fries (simple, I know). The Pescado a Lo Macho and Arroz con Mariscos were very generous portions with a ton of various seafood; even the fried fish dish came with shrimp, mussels, and scallops on top. The Aji de Gallina was maybe the least noteworthy entree, a chicken stew with cassava and rice, but even that was hearty and filling. Service was good throughout with plenty of water refills, and the cost was surprisingly reasonable for what we ordered. I'd definitely recommend this place for seafood lovers, and I'd be interested in coming back to try the roast chicken and to have the lomo saltado and ceviche again!
