Great vibe in the place, but the service is a bit... weird? A few people in our group arrived earlier and were already seated inside. A few more came and were shown to the table without difficulty but when the last two in our party arrived, they were stopped at the front. When they explained they were looking for people already seated inside and told them the name on the reservation, the hostess said that they have a lot of different parties inside and wouldn't know where the table is so my friends would have to go in and find the table themselves. Meanwhile, she has an iPad where she can look up our reservation which she had done just 15 minutes prior for others in our group. The drinks are interesting and pretty good. Keep in mind they're gin based and I thought they were pretty strong. The food options are very limited, but the potatoes were good. read more

What a great distillery! Located next to the Fillmore that holds concerts and other shows, is this amazing distillery. Located on the on the side this great distillery offers wonderful cocktails for the drinking public. The wine lace is a great place to gather with friends and do a wonderful taste testing on different Gins. The servers are friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the equipment and process of marking the wonderful liquors. The 2md floor has a really nice cigar bar for the pairing of a beautiful cigar with your whiskey. Food Family and I came over for some drinks after dinner. They had a wide variety of selections for multilple Gin-based cocktails. I got the Pensylvania punch which uses a dry Gin and some citrus. I gotta say this was a pretty good drink as it was pretty refreshing and not super strong and just hit the right amount of gin/juniper notes. Service/Ambiance I like the ambiance of the tasting room and it wasn't too packed on a friday night as well. Our server was nice and we got our drinks pretty quick. I like that you have full view of the distillery in the back and decor with all the gin bottles are a nice touch. My girlfriend and I came here on a Friday night for one of their cocktail classes. It was a wonderful evening and highly recommended. $75 per person for a two hour class, includes hors d'oeuvres, a welcome cocktail, plus three additional cocktails and direct instruction from a bartender on how to make them. The class was upstairs on the fourth floor in their private event space, and led by Sam. He was incredible! Very knowledgeable about the vast world of cocktails, not to mention a very funny and engaging speaker. The three cocktails we learned about were a Penicillin, an East Side, and a Negroni. All were exceptional (and strong... we're feeling it a little this morning). All in all a fantastic date night in an elegant setting. Would definitely do again. read more

I am obsessed! I was seeing a show at the Fillmore this weekend and wanted to pop in here for a drink prior after reading all of the rave reviews - SO glad I did. This part of town will always be popping off on weekends with shows at the major venues and many weddings/rehearsal dinners/events in the summer, and this was the case at Philadelphia Distilling. They had a buyout in their primary downstairs space but I was super excited when the welcoming host staff let me know they were running their "speakeasy with snacks" upstairs on the 4th floor. I took the elevator up where I got views of the barrels and their beautiful downstairs bar. I do want to go back sometime soon and get the full experience, but their fourth floor space boasts city and bridge views and a very chill vibe. They were serving a more limited version of their menu upstairs which worked for me, as every cocktail on the menu sounded incredible. I went with the strawberry Negroni and it was flawless. Their gin is smooth and refreshing, and the bar staff here is top of the line in both hospitality and skill. This will be a go-to for me anytime I am hankering for a gin cocktail. Prices in the speakeasy space were refreshingly reasonable as well ($12 for a cocktail). Note that the speakeasy space is only utilized when there's events downstairs, but if you're lucky enough to stumble into it I highly recommend taking advantage. read more

Philadelphia Distilling is a brewery and tasting room. Having a meal in the tasting room with windows to see inside of the distillery makes for a nice atmosphere. They make primarily gin, and the gin cocktails are outstanding. If you are feeling adventurous, you can have the bartender make you some cocktails off the menu. For food, I started off with the crispy potatoes and the wings. The crispy potatoes were very crispy and came with a dipping sauce that complemented it to perfection. The wings were top of the line wings. They were covered in just the right amount of sauce so as to not make them very messy. I ended my meal with the beef burger. It was cooked medium as requested and juicy. Not quite as juicy as the very best burgers, but it was very good and I devoured it quickly. I did arrive late for my reservation and halfway through the meal the waitress informed my dinner companion and I that we would have to move to the bar soon because they need the table for the next reservation. Thankfully, the manager came by 10 minutes later and said we could stay at our table. If we had been forced to move, I would have never visited Philadelphia Distilling again. We didn't move and were able to enjoy our delicious meal. I'll definitely come back to eat here before any concert at the Fillmore. read more

Love this place! Reviewing after my 2nd visit, although it certainly won't be my last. Only indulged in the cocktails, but from the looks of it, the food takes in 5-stars as well. Made a reservation through open table, but the seating options were relatively casual, allowing for patrons to self seat. I opted for the bar! The cocktails are crafty and boozy but the bartenders are my favorite part. They are friendly and accommodating. PD's drink menu is pretty extensive, yet the bartenders are still willing to make off menu drinks. There is truly something for everyone! Don't sleep on the to-go bottled cocktails either! As a pickle connoisseur, I discovered this Bloody Mary mix after discovering the dill & garlic pickles. I been known to drink it like V8. It has kick. Gave it to friend to take to the beach ... and it was too spicy for half their family. Ok so back to the distillery, I was going to buy a bottle of McClures to take home for my Dad who is a fan. The staff say the Bay vodka made with Chesapeake Bay seasoning really makes a nice Bloody Mary. It was a big bottle of vodka to tote home, possibly not like, etc. The work party had a pre-set cocktail menu. The staff took a bottle of McClures upstairs and made me a Bloody Mary. Wow! The person behind me in line saw mine and ordered one too. Yep they got the sale. For the record, my peers were ordering the Pencillin and Bee's Knees from drinks menu ... they went down easy, ordered another, and the party got lively. The h'ordeuvres (caprese skews, Philly cheese steak eggrolls(?), and a cheese platter) and buffet dinner (salad, green beans, chicken, & couscous/rice) were very good. The bakers in the group recognized the butter in the desserts (cookies, bar cookies, brownies, and ... fruit) ... many of us had midnight snacks. The event room was very industrial looking with exposed beams, wood floors, barrels, leather furniture and stand up tables. Lots of room to circulate for our group of 30 adults. The staff were very nice. Not sure where you would park. We came on a chartered bus. No DUIs tonight. Epilogue: Both the Mclures & Bay vodka made it home (Pittsburgh) in one piece. For $20 you get a tour of the active distillery, a cocktail, and to taste 5 of their unique and delcious alcohols. We loved so much of what we tasted we can't wait to place an order to ship to us. When I was in Philly for the Pink Boots Conference, we had a happy hour at Philadelphia Distilling Company. I didn't know what to expect, but this distillery, known for specializing in gin, truly impressed me. Thankfully, my palate has grown to appreciate a well-crafted gin cocktail, otherwise, I might have been toast! Gin can vary greatly in quality, but I finally found some of the good ones here, and Philadelphia Distilling is no exception--they had some phenomenal gin. The place was beautiful and I loved the mural showing the icon LOVE. It was a big crowd of attendees but the staff handled us like pros! Their curated drink menu was spot on, and I ended up savoring Willy Wonka's Gobstopper, which was both refreshing and delicious. Philadelphia Distillery is my latest OBSESSION! Do the tour & the restaurant! The tour is worth going to! Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the whole process of producing gin and did a great job with keeping us engaged. They were also hella funny. They started the tour by making us the Pennsylvania Punch. It was delicious. It tasted like a light refreshing orange juice. The tour took us around the brewing facility where they brew everything on site. The tour did a good job with how much thought was put into producing Bluecoat gin. It talked about the history, the lab, the ingredients, the retro brewing equipment and much more. And at the end of the tour you get to taste a shot of all their products. The spiced vodka was unexpectedly my favorite. We had a reservation for dinner afterwards. Of course we had to order the traditional French serving of absinthe. It was our first time having absinthe and it made me think about how Ernest Hemingway wrote about his characters consuming absinthe. We ordered these cocktails: The Hermit of Fairmount, Little Poplar, and League Island. My favorite was the Little Poplar because it tasted refreshing and savory. I wouldn't have expected that poblano, basil, and yuzu would pair well together. It wasn't spicy. I dream about this cocktail. We had good conversations with the waiter with dinner. He was telling us about how they all have to come up with a summer cocktail as an assignment. He was telling us about how he wants to due a variation of orange creamcical using egg whites. The way he was describing it made us wishing that he would win bc the drink sounded good. We ordered the Gougeres which were lavender honey cream puffs. It was a perfect balance of sweetness from the honey, lavender, and peanuts. But the cheese mousse and cream puffs were salty that it was the perfect flavor balance. All the waiters were like "order the impossible burger, it's better than our regular burger" so we ordered it. It wasn't worth ordering. It tasted like an ordinary burger that you make at home. t makes me wonder how bad the regular burger is. We left Philadelphia Distilling amazed! Also the merch is too cute. I stumbled upon this distillery on Groupon. I purchased two tickets for the tasting tour for myself and my husband and it didn't disappoint! My husband is a bourbon/whisky guy but he found the tour to be very informative and enjoyed tasting the different gins. The tour came with a cocktail that was delicious (Pennsylvania Punch). After the tour we stayed and had a few craft cocktails and food. Everything we tried was spot on! I've since visited several times and each time the cocktails and food are consistent. We did the tour before dinner and it was phenomenal! Very much enjoyed seeing how the spirits are made and being able to taste everything they make. We then did dinner in the tasting room after. We had the spicy cucumbers, crab fritters, and crispy potatoes which were all delicious! We came here with friends during their 5 year anniversary weekend and to celebrate they had a bunch of cocktails for 5$ ( talk about great timing). The whole place has a fun and cozy vibe. It was packed on a weekend so I suggest making reservations. We tried a bunch of cocktails and their few family flight. We also tried few appetizers and it was great. Love that they have vegetarian and gluten free options for people with dietary restrictions. My absolute favorite cocktail of the night was the great Rush.. My experiences with Philadelphia distilling have been overwhelmingly positive. It is 1000% worth the trip up to fishtown for any visit here, be it for their tour, dinner, happy hour, or just drinks out. The tour is probably the best thing to do here. For $15, you get to check out the entire distilling operation and learn about distillation, the evolution of the business, and all about bluecoat gin. You also get their wonderful Pensylvania Punch (not a typo) to sip on during the tour, and a sample of each of the seven or so spirits that they make after the tour. This is the only way to check out their private tasting room on the third floor without a private event, and the space is absolutely gorgeous with amazing views of the Ben Franklin bridge. Definitely worth the price of admission. Buy tickets about a week in advance because they do fill up. The cocktails themselves are creative and fun to try. Some of them are quite weird, so if you enjoy adventurous cocktails this is the place for you. The bartenders really know what they're doing and can craft drinks for you just based on individual preferences, which is really cool. I actually also really enjoy their bluecoat gin straight on the rocks. It's my favorite kind of gin, and if you are a gin fan in particular this place is must visit. The food has always seemed kind of secondary to me but it's a step up from traditional bar fare. I love the hummus and the calamari. Oddly enough, some of my friends say it's the best burger they've had in Philly (!) They have a really cute fenced in outdoor space with cornhole, lots of tables, and sometimes live music and performances. Very fun to sip a cocktail out here in the summer months. Inside is very industrial chic, plenty of instagrammable decor, and table games like Jenga. Thursdays are their happy hour day and it might be one of the best deals in town at $5 cocktails. I don't know anywhere else in the city that does $5 fancy mixed drinks. It's an absolute blast. You will want to book a table in advance for this. Overall, it's a really impressive place to bring a visitor from out of town or a date. Stopped by Philadelphia Distilling for some afternoon drinking last Saturday and loved every minute of it. You can't tell from the store front, but inside, it's Industrial meets Mid-Century Modern. Even their bathrooms were consistent with the theme. We didn't realize they were checking vaccination cards, but thankfully we all saved a pic of our cards on our phones, so make sure you do that, or you won't be allowed in. You may not even be allowed to sit outside, as our reservation was made for outside, but we were still required to show proof of vaccination. Normally, the menu is accessible thru QR code; however, the website was down while we were there, and no one was able to access the menu. The staff did manage to print out some menus. In the meantime, our server, Alfredo provided our table with suggestions on different cocktails our table might enjoy. Also, checking their Instagram profile can be very useful. You can find pictures and descriptions of some of their featured cocktails. The cocktails here were delicious and everyone seemed to love what they ordered. Can I just say, service here is impeccable! Our server, Alfredo was so sweet. He took care of us and made sure our water glasses were full at all times. From pictures, it looks like they offer board games for their guests' enjoyment, but we didn't make use of that. Philadelphia Distilling is my new favorite cocktail spot. This place is one of the most beautiful venues in Philadelphia. It is stunning to look at, and extremely comfortable. The drinks are pretty much all incredible- and the one time I wasn't happy, the bartenders immediately adhered to my requests. Crowd was nice and ambient, bartenders were nice, food and drink were delicious. It took a little long to get our food, but nothing crazy. They also have rooms for private events such as weddings, which looks stunning. I heard you can do a tour of the distillery. The reason I'm leaving one star away from a perfect score is because we've now had a few negative experiences with a hostess. We believe the person at the front desk when you enter should be accommodating, and we have been met with a form of attitude or disdain every time. It feels a little unwelcoming, and multiple of the people we brought have seen it. Overall, this place is amazing. I just turned 22, and have a huge issue with fancier places like this one taking me seriously and treating me like any other normal customer. The last experience me and my friend had at an establishment I will not name, we were very disrespected and it came down to our young appearance and age. Rightfully so, we were nervous to go here and have the same thing happen. I am so happy to report that the hostess, and waiter were both so sweet! We explained that we didn't understand how martinis worked, and he said that this was the place to learn and try! Before I begin this review, I must say that there are very few places that leave an impression on me so great that I am thinking about the next time I will be coming back. However, from the minute I walked in, I knew that Philadelphia Distilling was going to be one of those places. This might be one of Philadelphia's best spots to eat and drink. Food & Drink: 5/5 - I am going to address the elephant in the room. The cocktails are definitely on the more pricey side (around $10-14) per drink, however that being said, they really give you a good bang for your buck. The cocktails we had ordered were strong and took us almost by surprise. We ordered the Elfreth's Alley, Dutch Courage No. 7, and the Penicillin (Hot) and all of them were very high quality. Although the drinks are expensive, you'll be sipping on them for at least half an hour. Service - 5/5: The staff members are super friendly and very helpful. They clearly know their stuff when it comes to the cocktails and they were very approachable. The drinks came out very fast and the food followed shortly after. You really don't even notice the wait for your drinks as the place is so eye-catching and you sit in awe of the architecture. Ambience - 5/5: I would really give this more than 5 stars if I could on this app. This is a very visually appealing place. I could spend hours here.
