I've been very happy shopping here lately. Friendly staff, friendly security (i find rude security in any non-military/casual venue to be an unnecessary experience, business security can smile and have some customer service when not actively protecting), fast checkouts, the pricing/specials are actually low prices for 1 item now instead of that strange experiment they tried where you had to buy bulk like 5 boxes of cereal, etc. I especially like when I can catch specials on the steaks I like. I also like that they seem to have genuinely read and responded to my yelp complaints and made the physical changes in their store, as opposed to just blindly reassuring things will improve without actually doing anything, like im sure many businesses do. Most importantly, to me, they don't harass me or discriminate against me for not suffering a dirty face cloth (mask). Thank you very much for providing a semblance of normalcy in this increasingly crazy, psychotic state of CA. Mask aside, I generally like shopping here over all the other grocers in the AV and I've tried them all, I'm glad I live close to this store. People, please don't start coming and flooding here from the bad stores lol. Though the parking lot could use the vibrancy I suppose, more crowds would do good to promote safety. On 5/14/19 I went in and bought my groceries. The rudest guy, Samuel S, was my check out clerk. Not a word the entire time he was ringing up my groceries. Not a thank you for coming, did you find everything etc etc... This has become the normal in customer service any more. On 5/21/19 I was there again and low and behold he was the only open line. The deli has fried chicken and potato wedges; well at least that's what I thought. There was no chicken, just a few pieces of potatoes wedges that looked to be old. Great store I am disabled I went into shop at stater bros mrkt..they didnt have any electric shopping carts available the store clerk saw I needed one ran to get me a chair to sit while he ran around the parking lot looking for an electric car for me. I think it's because the commercials always look like they're from the 1980s and I imagined it to look like the ranch markets that give me nausea. And this, my dear Yelp friends, is why you don't judge a book by its cover. I mean I love this place ! It us stocked with everything you can imagine (unless you are imagining crab cakes because they don't carry them) and they also carry a lot more of the limited ethnic foods that you can't find at most stores. I was stoked to find black bean sauce the other day. There is always a good parking spot available, the staff is always kind, and you won't find a cleaner supermarket. Even the produce is glistening. The staff is always nice and helpful the produce is always fresh the butchers are very helpful and the cashiers are always friendly its clean and well stocked and has a good variety of items plus they will order you an item if you ask they also sell stamps money orders I think they do money grams plus you can rent videos from the red box inside plus the parking lot is well lit and there are other businesses that stay open real late so parking lot is well lit and there are plenty of people around. read more

I NEVER shop at stater bros but I foolishly came here to pick up some meat - the top sirloin on sale - it's 4 pm on a Saturday and they are out??????? Meat cutter juuuuuust left (of course) and the poor kids working the meat counter are dealing with crabby people like me (and doing it very politely and as helpful as they can!!!) who want to BBQ tonight not get a rain check and try again tomorrow ... I live in what's known as a food desert - only one grocery store within about a 5 square mile radius - and the Walmart here - well their meat is usually pretty awful - so the stater bros clerk generously suggested the outrageously priced beef instead - can't do that and make my mortgage this month ... I came here just for the beef - it's always very good and the butcher cuts it well and I never have cause to complain about any of the cuts- so if you advertise it have it on hand otherwise it's almost switch and bait ... Update Gotta update this - I started with one star only cuz the customer service was as good as it could be and the kids tried The meat market manager Andrew came out, put in a coat and cut me 5 lbs of the top sirloin for my daughters birthday dinner Now THAT'S great customer service!!!!! read more

This is the closest grocery store to me aside from the ever chaotic Wal-Mart. Always ample parking, always have plenty of carts inside, store is clean, beautifully cold inside, produce dept is abundant,super fresh(I wish they sold fresh figs), staff in every dept(except cashiers), are very helpful & friendly-specially the young guys that work here. One particularly helpful accommodating employee, is a young guy Brandon,-(I think?), both my sister and I (she also shops here on the regular), have had multiple instances of exceptional service on his behalf. They usually have everything I'm looking for in stock, but if not, they take in interest, and offer to have it ordered for you. Meat/butcher dept are great, very efficient, as are bakery and produce. Prices are high, but totally standard for todays marketplace, and in most cases less than similar competing markets.( grocery prices are super high everywhere, (i.m.h.o.).There is a Redbox here inside the store. They are usually pretty good about quickly opening up new lane when lines start expanding. The baggers are quick and do their job well.With the exception of a couple rude unfriendly women cashiers, everybody I've interacted with is great. If it's only food groceries you need then I highly recommend shopping here over Walmart across the street, where, although slightly cheaper, the store is outrageously busy and under employed. Stater's has been a family favorite go-to market since 73'. I have to agree with James E as far as the being the best place to shop for steak, nice big chuck roasts, custom thick-cut pork chops, dairy and weekly ad items. Not a big Wally fan when it comes to the grocery side, so my go-to for other items is usually Winco (pork roasts, bulk baking items/spices) or Vallarta (produce). My only real complaint about the meat section at most Stater's I've been to is the lack of lamb! I have to trek to Costco for the best racks, leg roasts and lamb chops for the price. read more

I find this store light years behind Ralph's or Food For Less. Today I used the change machine in the Stater Bros. And wanted to get 60$ worth of quarters and the cashier told me no because that's too much. Are you the quarter police? It's money! How is that different from wanting all 5s? Anyway I had to wait for nearly 6 minutes in an empty store because I guess I needed to be punished for asking for quarters. The manager or supervisor, a big forehead African American girl waltzed pass me whispered to the pregnant Mexican cashier and looked perplexed as if I disturbed her. I don't understand these places, how are you hiring people that treat your customers like shit?? Oh did I mention she walked right past me and handed the cashier the quarters. Stater Bro's has always been a family favorite of mine. I always get the best chicken here and great prices for summer time.

I have to say have bean very disappointed in the poor selection in the meat department poor quality in the produce and the very poor and scarey lack of lightning in the parking lot. I use to buy all my meats from stater bros. But they never have the roasts I use to buy and I found the hamburger was way too expensive when I started buying that at Costco. Much better price for 12% compared to what I paid for 15% which they don't have anymore anyway at stater bros. I walk through shopping and glance over at meats and they have a very poor selection. I found the perfect roasts I always linked to buy at great prices at Albertsons so I get them there. All other meat from Costco. Often times produce is bad looking and got many moldy onions so I find my shopping lists getting smaller for stater bros because they have less stuff I can buy there. Now with no lighting in the parking lot I don't feel safe shopping after dark. I'd say the quality of the East ave j stater bros has gone downhill and continues to drop. I actually made a yelp account just to write this review just because i was so bothered by my experience today. my husband and I just moved to this side of town and went in this afternoon to get stuff for dinner. everything was going fine, we got a pasta salad from the deli which was delicious and the girl that helped us was very friendly, produce was nicely stocked and fresh and the boys at the meat counter were polite. everything was going fine until we got to the check out line. I made a point to remember the cashiers name was Amber and the box girls name was Tuquishia? as we were checking out we got no hello because they were too busy laughing and talking POORLY about another employee. Very unprofessional and VERY low class. Hopefully management sees this and it gets addressed ASAP. read more

Ok, So not my favorite place to shop, but it is extremely close to my house. I often run up to the market on my way home or just when I need a few things here or there. Even late at night, they are always well stocked, clean and friendly. I've never had to wait in a line for more than 2 minutes, and check-out has always been speedy.
