my bottom freezer refrigerator gave me problems one day, called & Hal talked me through getting it going again. Several weeks later, the fridge quit, and we talked about it. He was going to send Ashley over with the part to replace, but the age of the refrigerator gave me pause, so I said I'd come over and have a look at what used ones they had available. Decided on one, paid, came home and decided I wanted a different one. No problem, no scowl, just reassurance that I could change if I so desired. Hal walked around with me, took me awhile, but finally decided on one, and it was delivered and installed just a few hours later, the old one removed, and Ashley and helper put something heavy that I needed to return to Amazon. No problem. They removed two cabinet doors so the fridge would fit, all in. Although I'm not blood related, this family IS my extended family. I'd be lost without them! Mi familia! I bought a washing machine for $225 hooked it up and was dismayed the spin wouldn't work and brought it back. When I was moving it myself at home apparently when pulling the top dashboard it came off disconnecting the connection in when I got it back to their shop the gentlemen opened it up seeing what I had done and with a great attitude reconnected it and said don't pull on that part when moving it. it works great saving me hundreds of dollars from buying a new one! read more

I had a fridge stop cooling not too long ago and they came out to diagnose it. They were quick and professional at a reasonable price. My only complaint is that how they get somebody to come out to you is for you to wait for a call from a technician saying they are 30min out, that could be in a couple hours from your call or the next day. It wasn't a big deal for me, but for somebody that may be busier and would feel more comfortable with booking a time window for a technician to come out then this might not be your "easiest of mind" option. But overall, I would recommend them! read more

My main fridge (Samsung French Door) is 3 years old. A year ago when it started to intermittently fail I called around for service. Harold, the owner at Staten, said he couldn't repair that model. Total piece of crap. Too much electronics in a cold cube!He said to call Sears, and then get a warranty ' cause it'll just keep happening. He was right. It stopped cooling FOR THE THIRD TIME on Friday. We have been using two IGLOO coolers and bags of ice for 5 days. The Sears guy ordered parts and the next appointment to repair Samsung is April 3. My garage fridge has been unplugged for 3 years and was kaput, too. So, I called Harold this morning at 9 to get a used GE fridge: top freezer, no electronics except a light bulb. $300 plus $40 delivery/haul away. His truck was here in two hours. Well all righty. Just purchased a used refrigerator from Harold Staten. He started our transaction by asking me its intended purpose. As soon as I said garage, he steered me to the used section. After looking at a few, and talking price, I came back 2 days later with a truck to make my purchase. 20 minutes later it was cleaned up, with the cracked shelf replaced, and rusty outside painted over. I can't recommend this place enough. Superior customer service and they don't make you feel like you're dealing with a used car salesman. If there is an issue, they make it right. Period. We bought a washer here two and a half months ago and it had a small issue. They came out right away and fixed it. While Ashley was here, I asked for an estimate to fix my dishwasher that I didn't buy from him so I could have him come back another day, and he gave me an extremely REASONABLE quote and fixed it the SAME DAY! What a nice, friendly gentleman! He took my information, relayed to their service people who called to schedule a visit. Went to purchase a used/referb washer, the owner (older fellow) helps out and explained they are priced from $350 (regular size) to $400 (King size). Asked the King size and point out three models. Liked the Kenmore 600 model but didn't say king size on it like the others so I questioned it but was confirmed by the owner (mislead). Paid and brought it home. Wife realized it was the regular size, confirmed online (3.5 Cu Ft). I called and spoke with the owner to tell me that is the largest in Kenmore brand, but bring it back and will give you a king size instead. Wife didn't find king size washer she liked. There is a NO REFUND policy despite it was the owners fault misleading. I was upset and was refunded $350 out of the $400, that is a ripoff restocking fee. I will never return here nor will I recommend them. For these prices just buy NEW at Home Depot. What a waste of time, gasoline, money and frustration. read more

Our dryer wouldn't turn on and we didn't know why. We thought we might need a new one. I saw Staten's Appliances recommended on a FB page so we thought we would at least give them a try. My husband called and described the problem and told them the make of the dryer. They told us they could come out and fix it for a service call but if we would like to save the money they could talk us through it on the phone. It was fixed in minutes for free. As good as it gets! My 5 year-old GE washer broke down. My options were to trust a questionable repair person, plus service charge, parts and labor, plus haul-away. Or I could drop $900 on a new machine from a big-box store. Harold from Staten's sold me a used washer for half-the-cost. That's delivered, installed and the old one hauled away. These guys have been selling appliances on the same corner in Garland for three generations and 42 years for a reason! Statens worked with my husband and I to get a garage fridge and stunning gas stove. We put down half of the money, and he held it for us. Very nice choices, customer service, 5 stars all around. Beautiful stainless steel stove was $450, the garage freezer which is a stand up freezer cost $260. Not bad. read more

BEWARE, DO NOT PURCHASE FROM THIS COMPANY! I unfortunately purchased a Refrigerator with a Top Freezer for my garage from this guy. I knew from the start this wouldn't turn out well, but I went against my better judgement and did it anyway... My last garage Fridge was $175 and lasted for 7 years, this guy was selling one for $460 (which was one of the cheapest ones)! It is what I was looking for, and they guy happily took my credit card and said that they would deliver it in one day, 90 day warranty (which I thought was super low). They deliver it and they guy that was delivering it starts saying "Don't try to adjust the controls, they don't work, just leave them set at 3". At this point I should have known better but again, I thought, "meh... I am sure it is fine." After 95 days, no joke, 95, it starts to give out and the Fridge Part is a bit warmer than it was. The guy who answered the phone said, "well, that is why we have a 90 day warranty, you can give us $150 to come out and look at it and then charge you more money to fix it!" I was appalled. I decide to go from 3 to 4 in the Fridge setting to try to cool it down. Less than 2 weeks later and it seems the motor has burned out, the fridge just warmed up and everything in my Freezer has defrosted. TL:DR, this company takes cruddy fridges, puts a band-aid on them, resells them at a premium and doesn't care about it's customers. Beware, do not purchase from them! read more

We had a snafu with installing a dishwasher that was one I already had, and the shop worked with me to get a used dishwasher replacement for the tenant on very short notice like a day or two before Xmas. By far the best customer service and appliance repair business I ever experienced. My parents heating element went out in their oven and they don't have much money to call a repairman out. So after reading the reviews on here and since it was literally right now the street from my parents house. I went to check it out. The owner is a very nice and helpful guy. I explained what the problem was. He said its an easy fix and not very costly. He told me step by step on how to uninstall the heating element in my parents oven and then asked me to write down the model number of the oven to order the replacement for it. For someone like myself that knows nothing about ovens he made it simple for me and I learned something new that I never knew how to do. He only charged me the price of the part. I must have called him 4-6 times in between to make sure I was doing everything right. He was very patient and helpful through the whole process. I re-installed the new part and turn on the oven and the oven works like new! He also gave me some oven cleaning tips. One being never to use the self-clean on the oven since it will cut the life of your oven. He said use soap, water and window paint razor tool for the tough stains. I personally used Easy Off Oven Cleaner. I bought it at Home Depot. This stuff is amazing and works like a charm just make sure you use soap and water afterwards to clean it all off since it is chemical base. I highly recommend their services to anyone that has issues with their appliances. The shop has tons of used and repaired appliances that are for sale. I haven't personally bought one from them as of yet. But they will be the first I go to when I do. Very please. -Rob read more

A year or two ago we thought we were looking at having to replace our refrigerator and freezer unit, but Staten's came out and was able to do a simple repair/part replacement for under $200. It's still working great! Today they came out to fix our washer (agitator not working) and dryer (not heating/drying). Both were fixed in less than 45 minutes- also under $200. Great customer service! I went here looking for a fridge, and although I did not find what I was looking for, I spent about 30 minutes talking to someone about refrigerators. I walked in knowing nothing (even after all my online research) and walked out feeling like an expert. It's a family run business and they really know their stuff. The washers are kind of expensive about half the price of brand new. They charge a delivery fee. In my case $70. We had scheduled a delivery for 11PM. They called asking if we could do them a favor if they could deliver it earlier. My mom is a catholic and goes to church every day. God bless her LOL. Anyway she missed out on mass to help out and asked if they would help her pick up a recliner from Sams that was all ready paid for and waiting and literally less than 5 minutes away. The idea was a favor for a favor but it was a no go. The online reviews are what caused me to shop this store. They are nice in tone seem like nice people but they aren't going to put themselves out for you or give you much of a deal. I had expected a better experience thanks to the other reviewers. They do a lot of small family business talk but don't do any of the good things that make a family business better than a big box store. read more
