    Two Ells Home Improvements

    Two Ells Home Improvements

If you live in the Clarence/East Amherst/Williamsville area and you need work done in your home and…read moreBrian at Two Ells isn't the first person you contact, you are doing it wrong. This dude does it right, does it well, and does it for reasonable prices. He works clean and is honest and trustworthy. If you hire him once it's pretty much a guarantee you will hire him again because he is really good at what he does. My 1st floor bathroom was devastatingly brown. Brown tile floor, brown wood vanity. Why would anyone choose to make a bathroom the color of poop I cannot reconcile to myself. I have been annoying my husband for two years since we moved in to the house with my rants about it. This year I convinced him to let me spend some of our tax return on changing that. Thanks to my raging addiction to HGTV I knew exactly what I wanted to do in there and contacted Brian about my vision in mind. He is the most laid back dude, super chill and easy to work with. Brian does beautiful tile work, he made some very helpful suggestions about the tile and how to lay it so it would look the nicest. Aside from the tile work, he also changed out the shower head, replaced the vanity sink and installed faucets and a new backsplash, replaced the mirror, light fixture and toilet. Oh! And he hung up some shelves and changed the light above the shower. He did an amazing job. My husband was very happy with the changes that were made, his only negative was "This is so nice now the rest of the house looks like crap". Ha! Sounds like he's challenging me to think of new projects to hire Brian for. Two Ells for the win!

Back in the Spring when my family needed to hire someone to renovate our crumbling bathroom, I…read moreturned to Yelp to ask who knew a good contractor for this kind of work. Kelly B recommended Brian at Two Ells. I called him that day, left a message. He returned the message that day and we set up a time for an estimate. I love prompt responsiveness, and right off the bat, I had a good feeling about Brian. My parents haven't had any major work done in their 1980-built house since they moved in, circa 1984. Partly because they didn't want to spend the money and partly because it can be difficult finding an honest, affordable contractor, which has to do with the first reason really. Two of the several things I'm super grateful for regarding the way Brian works are his honesty and his ability to see projects in a cost-effective way. He is also extremely patient. My Mom had some health issues arise during our plans and Brian was so patient with us and having to push the date back (& our slacking on picking out materials, mostly because my mom is a perfectionist procrastinator). While we were waiting on the bathroom finalization, Brian painted our upstairs hallway and our family room and did a great job. He also replaced all of the gross fluorescent tube lighting in our kitchen and powder room with recessed lighting. I swear if you can only change one thing in a house built in the 70's-80's, the upgrade in lighting will make a WORLD of difference. My parents home only has one shower so it was VITAL that the tub and shower tile work was done relatively quickly. Brian and Bryce had the tub, tiles, and fixtures installed and ready to be used in 3.5 days. We were blown away with how quickly they worked and how beautiful the tile work turned out. The remainder of the bathroom work (new floor, new toilet, new lighting, painting, new doors, new vanity and counter top) took about 7-8 work days, at the most. We had a delay in getting the vanity and counter top from the materials supplier, but Brian checked in every couple of days to let us know what was going on. The project altogether probably took about 10 days. To remodel a full bathroom. Yay! I highly recommend Two Ells. Their pricing for our projects was SUPER reasonable and Brian is a really good, honest guy. He had great communication with us throughout our projects. We had estimates from a couple of other contractors initially but we got the best feeling from Brian and knew he was the man for our job! We look forward to working more with him in the future! It disappoints me to see so many of the reviews for this business filtered because I'm sure they are legit. Brian deserves all of that praise for the quality work he does. Thanks Brian! We'll see ya' soon! :D

(I wish I had a "before" picture. Boy, was it ugly!) My husband and I are terrible procrastinators, but we just couldn't put it off any longer. Rather than getting multiple quotes, I trusted all these 5-star ratings and hired Dalex. No regrets whatsoever. After Dimitriy made his inspection, he explained what we needed and made suggestions on improvements, then presented a detailed proposal. Everything was carried out exactly as outlined in the contract. The crew arrived first thing in the morning, big boss Alex stopped by in the afternoon to make sure everything was going well, and by 8 p.m. they were packed up and ready to pull out, leaving our driveway and yard even cleaner than it was before. To say nothing of that gorgeous new roof!

He wouldn't even look at my roof without charging me. His time may be valuable, but so is my hard earned cash, which his company clearly did not want. Happy to take my business elsewhere and not give thousands of dollars to someone who speaks so rudely to a potential customer.

    Switala’s Construction - full roof from 2022

    Switala’s Construction

Switala Construction; maybe we got a good roof but so much damage, nails and garbage left at my…read morehouse. We had a new roof installed by Switala and it looks good. And I will give credit where it is due. The problem was with poor customer service and horrible cleanup and much property damage. Jeff A., from Switala, visited our home to review our roofing needs. We discussed all aspects of the roofing project in detail, and we had a lot of questions which he answered very well. He mentioned that they pride themselves with customer satisfaction and I saw on their website "Customer satisfaction as their top priority", and we discussed that in detail and also their cleanup procedure at the end of the job. Jeff wrote us a new roof & gutter proposal which we signed and returned on 4/6/2022. We understood that the installation was a few weeks out, which was OK, since we did not currently have any major leaks. After waiting a few weeks, we called and were told installation was about 2 weeks out. Over the next 5 months we called a number of times & was always told the installation was about 2 weeks out. They finally showed up September 28 to install the roof. I can understand that it is difficult to give an exact date, but we put off many projects and family activities for the spring, summer and fall just waiting. I don't blame the office personal for giving us the standard answer of "2 weeks", but I would have hoped that management would step in and give an honest estimate. That two weeks turned into 25 weeks waiting. Waiting was only the start of the problems. Our property was left in horrible condition with damage. After they left, I collected 4 white buckets of debris ranging from food, wrappers, razor blades, butts & construction material. Flowers were trampled, landscape lights broken off, siding with many tar streaks. But by far the worst problem was NAILS. There were nails left everywhere, bushes, driveway, and across the entire lawn. I weighed what I picked up & it was 7.4 pounds which was literally over a thousand nails. They used a leaf blower to blow off the roof debris and sidewalks which looked OK at that time. Later I found that the debris was blown into my pool & hot tub and clogged my brand-new pool filter system, which I had to drain. The hot tub was covered the 1st day but not the 2nd and a worker also fell in. The gutter crew showed up on October 10th & I showed them the big pile of garbage & nails I collected. They took all garbage back to the office and said that the owner, Bill Switala, will be very upset with how my property was left. At that point it sounded like I would get some action. I waited a few weeks but never heard a word from anyone at Switala. I called & asked the staff if Mr. Switala had any comments on the damage, garbage & nails left on my property. Within the hour, Mr. Switala called and apologized for the mess. I told him I made a list of 15 cleanup & property damage issues, and I started to read them off just to give him some feedback. After I read off 3 problems Bill offered me $100 then I read off a few more he upped it to $200 and that was the end of the conversation. I was not trying to squeeze money out of him but was only hoping to give him constructive feedback and maybe get some cleanup help. I forwarded many pictures of the property damage, garbage, and nails, and included a long letter to Mr. Switala on October 19th detailing the original 15 issues that we started to talk about over the phone. Way too many issues to post here. It is over 3 months now and I never got a response from my letter or any offer of repair or cleanup help. I continued to pick up construction debris before the snow hit and I gave up counting after I found 400 more nails and filled another bucket with garbage. Maybe a good roof, but the thought of my grandkids impaling themselves with nails if they are ever allowed to play on the lawn again, really scares me. Definitely no attempt at the touted "Customer Satisfaction" from Switala. But at least no roof leaks.

OVERPROMISED & UNDERDELIVERED…read more We hired Switala's Construction to tear off and redo two flat roofs that were holding water. Jim, who we worked with, was scatter-brained, cocky, forgetful, and TOLD us what we wanted rather than listening to us. If you like workers who smoke, show up late and leave early, leave a mess in your yard, take three weeks to do a week's worth of work, put up a tarp so poorly that rain water leaks into your kitchen ceiling, don't communicate when they promise to, and overcharge you by $10,000+ then Switala's Construction is the company for you. Our "before" and "after" pictures are nearly identical - in a bad way. The second roof never even got finished, with excuses such as "not enough men" and "workers in poor health." When we made Jim aware of the fact that one roof was still holding water months later, his only solution was offering to "come look at it." DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! Stop wasting your time reading this review and go look for a more reputable company, like we wish we had!
