Service guy says do it over the summer after his unwillingness to work with me at all and says loaners aren't offered (which would be fine but telling me they had one and then leaving me with nothing after a 30 min drive not ok). After my husband calls on my behalf and I'm scrambling to try to find a ride home, they say to take the car home. They'll pick it up and put gas in it for me and it'll be ok. I'm optimistic so I do but have to have it go through my husband because I'll be at work all day. The rental he receives is covered in dog hair (husband is highly allergic), it's absolutely filthy. Get to the dealership and tell them about the hair. Their response "we're Subaru, our customers have dogs." While they did not fill up the gas as promised they didn't forget to ask if I filled up their rentals tank. My husband went back to tell them the car was without the gas they promised and was kicked out of the location because they felt fixing the vehicle I received defective was doing me "a favor" even though it's under their warranty. I will never be back. The way they speak to people is unacceptable and to expect me to drive back and forth three times to a place 30+ min away like I've not got anything better to do is unreasonable. Her service and honesty was very much appreciated and even tough i had better offers at other dealers it was worth giving her the sale as her service continued even after the sale. This is the second car I have purchased this year and I had gone to Subaru before and they had lost the sale. Wasnt expecting much this time around but since it was close to home gave them a try . I went to Stateline a year ago when I was in search of a new Legacy. Apparently their sales team weren't very interested in making a year end sale as they could not reach an agreeable price on a car that I wanted. I did find the deal I was looking for at another dealership; however, they were much further away. My new Subaru needed some warranty work done and this is the closest dealership. I was told that we could use an after hours drop off for my vehicle, so that I wouldn't need to get up so early the next day. When we showed up to drop the car off somebody was locking the gate. They told us to drop the vehicle off on the sketchy dirt road (alley) next to the dealership... not happening! Thankfully the cleaning person was nice enough to open the gate and let me drop off my vehicle. Thankfully it was repaired correctly, but I can't say I will be in a hurry to take it back here for any additional service anytime soon. read more

Each time I talked to him, the price changed, the delivery date changed, the "extra" features increased. Also I informed Roger that I live in MA, and so my plate transfer would be MA, and not RI where the dealership is based. it: after speaking with the manager, Amy. My concerns have all been addressed. Had i met with her from the start my overall impression would have been different and not shady. Because she honored her word and gave me facts. For that i will average my reviews for a score of 3/5 Dropped my car off 2 hours before closing. After discussing with people who have worked at a dealership I received regrets over the "fair pricing " i was given. After discussing this with Ryan the following morning when I called since my Voicemail was not returned. he offered to take $100 off the brakes only because that was the only item of the 3 items documented that was not complete. completed. So i said okay thank you. And mentioned that the loaner vehicle I was given did not have a full tank of gas when I took it so i would not be returning it full. He just asked i returned what i used. (Which i did). 3 hours later after being told 2 of 3 were done all thats left is brakes. I get a call that my battery is fail and dead and will need to be replaced. They took it out to replace the spark plugs. And now its dead. I asked for a quote on a battery and on all of the other services performed and on the report of the battery failing When i am told on the phone by Ryan that "we do not give formal quotes or quotes on servicing because we are not allowed to put anything in writing" as if that does not sound fishy. He says they only do invoices and right on the invoice itself "customer here by acknowledges receiving original estimate of $0.00" which means they have capabilities but chose not to use them. So I demanded he send me something to which i get an email just in the body typed with 4 errors because i only got 1 of the rear bearings not 2 and only 1 was authorized and a few other details.. Also after finally receiving the print out of the battery report because the email copy was not sent. That it has the report being done at 12:10pm But i was told at 11:08am via phone call that my battery was shot and needed replacement. After already adjustment when we go through the final cost breakdown first it was my inbound pads then its outbound pads. Then the shop supplies fee is for tools. Which i asked another Subaru rep it is not for tools it is for haz waste disposal and tire disposal and now just what ryan referred to as a "dealership tax" Maybe there are other service members at this establishment that are fair and honest. But working with Ryan Nave was like pulling teeth to attempt to not be overcharged. Under new ownership. Extremely desperate for sales. It's common practice for customers to shop cars as well as dealerships to gain an overall picture for pricing and future service. I've never had a problem taking paperwork home to review every fine detail. You'll notice they have fonts big and small and fees all over the place. I apologize for doing my due diligence to read over the paperwork before I actually purchased a brand new car. This particular dealership has zero business model for retaining customers. Every employee in here is more concerned about their own pocket than customer relations. DON'T PAY THE ETCHING FEE! Disappointed to give a one star rating, because the buying experience was actually fine. Based on what I found online, I thought the price was fair, the salesman I worked with (Josh) was kind and not pushy, and the car itself is great. The rub came in regards to $199 fee, which I was told was "standard" on every transaction. It's referred to as an "etch", "security", "window etching", or "vin etching fee". Basically, it's a scam fee. The fee is to etch the vin number into the window of your car. The idea is to be able to identify parts of your car if it is stolen AND the vin is either unreadable, or the car is broken up into parts (Does that sound likely to you!?). Even if you want that service, many local police departments, government organizations, and even sometimes AAA do it for free. You can also do it yourself with a simple kit for under $20. The AARP and other consumer organizations say the fee is a scam. The vehicle was in OK condition for the price. Afterward I went into the dealership. I sat down at the table and I was physically pinned between the wall, a salesman , the table, & a saleswoman who started hammering me on price. "What's stopping you from buying this vehicle today?" Yes, they even tried the put a deposit down today to hold the car because it's gonna move fast. Between feeling physically trap between a wall, a desk, and two salespeople I left the dealership. The sales tactic felt like something like cheezy DBag frat guys use in a bar to keep you from leaving & keep your attention. I walked straight out of there. I bought another car two days later from another dealership in Hanover. It was a wonderful experience. Super chill sales staff & admins Now, this is what finally drove me to the point of writing this review. When I was in the middle of buying my vehicle seriously - Stateline calls me I tell them I'm no longer interested & take me off the list. It's now December 2, and I'm still getting flipping calls and after each call I tell them to take me off the list. I guess that car didn't move fast . I also got phone calls from employee cell phones (personal cells?) during this time but Im not going to post those in the call log photo but just add another 3 calls in. Two from a male one from a female. After every call they made I finished it with "Take me off your list!" Rule #1. Don't walk in there. You'll feel like your being treated like cheap bar meat Rule #2. Like a bad dude you meet in a bar, never give them your phone number Rule #3. Their excuse was they deleted certain items to meet my final offer. They did not tell me about this during our negotiations . Don't buy from these guys. Bought a 3 year old car and noticed a number of mechanical and safety issues with the car and they won't answer the phone or return calls. They sold me a car a car with the proximity key and didn't even test the physical key to make sure it works (it doesn't). The keyless entry system froze and I had no working physical key. After seeing the exact model I was looking for, a 2021 Subaru Crosstrek Sport online, I decided to visit this dealership. This specific model in the color that I'm looking for is hard to find. When I arrived, I was introduced to a very likable gentleman, Chris Dutra, and escorted to the temporary pre-fabs where they are currently doing business. It turned out that the vehicle on their website had already been sold, but a vehicle had arrived from an auction purchase the day before that was the same model and color that I was looking for. I had the title in hand for the 2019 Toyota Corolla that I wanted to trade. I wanted the exact terms of sale before test driving, as I'd read some negative reviews about the sales process at this location. The trade-in value offered for my Toyota was fine, exactly what I expected. I informed Chris straight away that I knew exactly what this model was worth, and that I wouldn't pay more than that, hoping to avoid all of the back and forth that this place is known for. I even gave him the amount, just to save time. He went in to speak with the general manager and came back with an offer that was $3,600 higher. I politely told him that as I'd already mentioned, I had a price that I would not go below. He came back with the price adjusted to what I was willing to pay, but with a crazy warranty package that was unnecessary for this car, and that brought it right up to their first offer. I again stated that I wasn't going to pay over that price, and asked him to ask his manager if they were able to do that or not. He went into the manager and came out with the plates on his hand and said that the manager was calling to see if they could let the car go on those terms. I told him that I didn't want to test drive the car until I was sure of the terms. He went back into the office (we're 2 hours in now). The manager came out to talk to me in person this time, and I know that this is a subjective observation, but he looked at me with disdain. Not sure if it's because he was annoyed that I wasn't falling for his bullsh*t, or if was that I was a middle-aged woman, but it was there. He said that the best he could do was $500 over the price that I had set. I said no, thanked Chris who really did try to sell me a car in spite of all of that nonsense, and left. This market is pretty transparent, and anyone with access to the internet can easily sort through trim packages and models and get a clear sense of what a car is worth. The back and forth nonsense is obsolete. Annoyed that I wasted so much time there (2.5 hours in total), and kind of sorry for Chris who lost out on his commission over $500. read more

Purchased a steering knuckle for a Subaru legacy from the parts department. Was told steering knuckle would be delivered early afternoon on February 16. After calling for two consecutive hours and no one answering the phone I finally got a hold of the service department. Who transferred my call to the parts department who then let me know it may be delivered today. After pressing the issue. tl;dr: Stay away from this place. They will give you a TrueCar quote over the phone and then pull it when you're at the dealership ready to buy. They will try to gaslight you and throw out as many excuses as possible as to why the can't honor it, or why you are mistaken about what's happening. Spend a few extra bucks at the next dealership and save yourself the grief. I will just add this: When I was told by the sales manager that they would not honor the quote I was given over the phone, we actually got the person I talked to that provided the quote to come over and join the debate. She verified the quote she provided was the price I was asking for. The sales manager's response is was simply that she was not authorized to do that. I don't remember if this happened before or after (I'll check my notes from that day if it matters) he suggested that I was confused and talking about another car with different features. I only asked about one car by its VIN specifically. Months later I got a call from the dealership (same woman that provided the quote) asking if everything worked out. I recalled the horrible experience I received when at the dealership. Again, I was told I was confused about what the quote was for, and what other terms might be attached. My experience started December 2018 for the record but I was so overwhelmed and trying to give them time to fix things, they never did so I feel that it should still be shared. I also want to state that I've only purchased one car aside from this one in my lifetime so it is a new process to me and I had explained this to Stateline and put my finances/trust in their hands. I purchased a 2016 Subaru Legacy with about 17k miles or so? I had been in the market for a new car in a relatively short amount of time since mine wasn't doing too well. I always try and do my research especially on dealerships considering the bad wrap most get. Stateline had great reviews so I decided to stick with them, here are a few of the things I went through. I ended up working with someone new at the time but didn't think too much of it considering she had help at arms reach from experienced staff members. This wasn't a big deal to me but it would start to show the problems in a short period of time. The first issue was Stateline quoting a trade in offer for my car they hadn't seen yet, I explained some details about cosmetic condition, etc. so I could work based on an accurate quote. I was told once they see it that they may be able to provide a better estimate. Once I had arrived with my car, it was checked and I was told that it was "in better condition than I let off". So I asked for an updated trade in quote but of course this was bait and I was told the quote I received was the highest available and stateline wouldn't budge on the price of the car even though there were cheaper ones maybe another 40-60 minutes away. Moving on, I started working with someone in charge of financing who of course started talking about extended warranties, and so on, great. What I would find out a few weeks later is that Stateline neglected to tell me that they would be submitting my credit profile up to SIX times, equalling 6 hard inquiries on my credit report after I had explained my situation of rebuilding my credit and so on. First time I brought my car in for an oil change to a mechanic I've been going to for a long time I was pulled in to the garage where someone had pointed out that some type of bracket holding the radiator or fan in the front of the car was damaged and could become more damaged if I hit a significant bump. The last piece that really made things worse was that the salesperson forgot to give me back my security deposit which then resulted in it taking almost a full year to get my security deposit back. I had to receive a letter from my bank showing that I had lost my debit card at one point and received a new one even though they knew I purchased the car there and had records of everything. They also had the nerve to give me a timeframe or else I wouldn't receive my security deposit Cosmetic condition of the car or things I forgot to check: - Salesperson promised me a full tank of gas upon purchase of the car. She forgot to fill it and then when I had asked about it she stated "that's only for new cars". So you told me in writing you would fill it and then pulled back your word. However if I drive 40 minutes to the dealership they'll honor it. - was contacted and left a voicemail by service department stating I'm owed a "free oil change" for purchasing the car there. The sales manager Inna had never heard of this but I didn't care to go through all the arguments and hassle at this point. - Passenger sun visor had someones makeup smeared all over it, - Driver side speaker has (still has cause I can't get it out) some type of liquid that was spilled into the speaker grill, - Cheap paint that was used to cover small chips and dents on the outside of the car, - I'm convinced the battery was failing or close to failing around the time of purchase, I don't believe it was ever changed out or even tested after it was purchased which has resulted in my car dying shortly after buying it while either sitting in the car with it off or playing music for a short amount of time. read more

E-mailed more than a week ago requesting photos for a used car listing that only showed a generic picture of the type of car. Followed up via telephone and e-mail. Still nothing. If their level of customer service is this low prior to making a sale, I wouldn't want to see what happens if there are warranty or other issues once a car is purchased from them -- probably best I never got the pictures! TL, DR: AVOID THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT!!!!!! Service department made me feel like I was going crazy and that the noise my brakes had been making for the past 2 years was "normal" and not dangerous. They would make "repairs" but nothing was ever fixed. Brought car to another dealership that actually found a problem and repaired it after one visit! They are misogynists and they have horrible customer service skills. If I could give zero stars, I would. (This is a review of the service department). The brakes on my 2017 Impreza wagon had been making a squealing noise for nearly 2 years. I've brought it in countless times only to be told "nothing was wrong" or that the noise was "normal." It wasn't until I threatened legal action that they started to take me seriously and it was at that point that they found that a bolt was missing from one of my calipers!!!!!!!! Why did they release the car to me in that condition! If it wasn't for the noise they said didn't exist, it never would have been caught. After being told that the noise was "normal" when the brakes get wet, I again threatened to take legal action and I was told to contact Subaru of America. I'm glad that I did because they told me to get a second opinion and I scheduled an appointment with a dealership that's 45 mins from me. That other dealership listened to me, actually heard the noise, and they found something wrong with my brakes. Turns out, there was no grease on my driver's side brake system and my front left brake pad was worn almost all the way out!!!!! HOW THE HELL DID STATELINE MISS THIS?!?!?!?!?! I'm LIVID! To take the cake, Stateline also doesn't respect women at all. The first time I went to get this problem looked at, I went with my mom and I was told that there was no noise. We had both heard the noise on the way in to the appointment! Then, I went back with my dad and they talked to him instead of to me!!! WTF?!?! My dad even said to the service manager "That's great, but it's not my car, it's my daughter's! Tell her!" My dad was just appalled by how I was treated. Unfortunately, this is all too common in the automotive industry. So, if you like being told that you're crazy and not taken seriously due to misogyny, then I recommend Stateline Subaru. If you actually want your problem solved and want to be respected, then I suggest going anywhere else. read more

Brought vehicle in for a simple marker light replacement and paint touch up on the bumper. Dropped vehicular off at Somerset location and they drove my car all the way to Brockton for the body work. Told me the work would take 2 days, they kept the vehicle for 4 days. Didn't tell me I was elidgable for rental car and it was already paid for by the person who's broken tire did the damage. The car came back and was never painted just clear coated over the top. The worst clear coat job I've ever seen, run lines and drips all over the whole bumper in places not even close to the damaged site too. Also a chunk of the bumper looks to have been sanded off, making a very noticeable imperfection right by the badge. By far the worst car experience I've ever had. I purchased this vehicle two years ago when they were Somerset Subaru and have always had a good experience there until now. *Edit* The body shop called me almost instantly after my internal review I sent to the company and the body shop is planning to replace the whole bumper to make up for lack of communication and initial work issue. Loved it when it was Somerset Subaru, hate it now. We use the service dept. Been loyal customers for over 10 years. With the new owners the yard is packed with cars. They do this stupid valet thing that's literally right in the middle of everything. Way to many people behind the counter. Used to be walkin, get the details of what was done, pay, get your keys and leave. All with the same person. Now you get bounced from one person to another. They literally added steps and complicated a simple process. Might be taking our business elsewhere. read more

Parts people don't know anything! Bad customer service and they dont care. I ordered parts that were "not returnable" despite charging me first and not telling me. They got the wrong part 3 times for a simple piece. Dont go here. Dumb read more

Went into test drive a used Jeep Wrangler they had on their website. I scheduled the appointment and came in and met with Drew. We went for a test drive and everything was good, as soon as we sat back at the desk things just didn't feel right. I stated I planned on looking at a few more to continue looking around over the weekend and did not want put a deposit and they insisted that it was refundable. They also said many times the car will not be be there when I come back. But they go on to say the car is such a fresh trade in that they don't have the title yet, so realistically the cars not going anywhere. I've been burned too many times before so I did not leave a deposit. They insisted that this is the best jeep wrangler around and I won't find anything else better in the surrounding area. Doing business didn't feel right with them. Just felt a little too pressured ended up going somewhere else. Being a younger couple I felt like we were judged on our experience with car buying. I'm just looking for a place that I can have an honest conversation with the salesman and not feel pressured to make the next move, and to understand that there's other vehicles out there and I want to take a look at them. Well I called Subaru starlink for the very first time to get my vehicle unlocked over 30 minutes of them telling me every time they attempt to unlock my vehicle they had a failure in their system and you're talking to one person and then they have to talk to their supervisor total waste of time why have that feature if this company can't unlock your doors when you need it to to me it didn't seem like they gave a shit read more

This is a dealership horror story. My recent experience with the Stateline Subaru Service department was without question the worst experience I've had in 48 years of automobile ownership. It began with a simple engine overheat on a Subaru Outback. They incorrectly diagnosed it as an AC problem, despite the fact that my hot engine icon was on and hot water sprayed all over my engine compartment. I was concerned enough about the engine overheat that I had the vehicle towed to Stateline. Since the coolant reservoir was now low, they implied it was my fault for not topping up the reservoir! They returned my vehicle after recharging my AC unit and changing the oil for $312. 600 miles later, my engine seized from overheating, necessitating an engine replacement. Amy Lawton, Service Manager, refused all responsibility. After discussing the matter with Al Vieira, GM, he agreed to split the cost for a used engine replacement which was performed at a cost to me of $1,500 with no accommodation of a loaner vehicle. That replacement engine from Stateline seized after 1,708 miles. Mr Vieira and Ms. Lawton refused to take any responsibility for this defective engine .They would not warranty the used engine beyond 30 days. I was never made aware of this, nor provided a copy of this sub-standard warranty. Other dealers provide a 6 month warranty with an option to purchase additional coverage on engine replacements. I had a second engine replaced at Belknap Subaru, NH entirely at my own expense for $5,666. It is warrantied for 6 months. So here we are, $7,000 later and Stateline washing their hands. Good news is, the people at Belknap Subaru were helpful, professional and actually warranty their work. Buyer beware of Stateline. Read the other Yelp reviews. You'll notice a pattern. Proceed at your own risk! There's a lot of reputable Subaru dealerships out there. Go find one. read more

Do not trust them. They tried to add on several extra fees. Emailed In writing that the car was certified and then when we were there with check said it wasn't. Found same car, for 2K less at Subaru Braintree. read more
