So, apparently the only place to buy alcohol in Utah is at an approved Department of Alcoholic Beverage Services store. We needed a bottle of whiskeynfor a gift, so we stopped here. The store is 'no frills' , but did have a good selection of alcohol. The prices seemed very high. One of our other purchases was a 6 pack of beer, and the price was listed as $5.99. I lived in Utah for several years, so the liquor laws are not a surprise here. Some folks seem to be commenting on that more than the place itself. You CAN buy alcohol in Utah, not having to resort to driving to next county as in some other states. I get it, can be inconvenient. The ID process is scan of your state ID via barcode, not clear how easy that would be to fake . . . (aside) Price is what it is - all restaurants will be more (obviously). Beer at grocery stores will typically be lower alcohol percentage - prices are not necessarily comparable (gotta do some label reading). Selection of beer, wines, hard stuff is SO much better than in early 2000s. Guess it is just a matter of perspective. I've lived in several states where the state sold and controlled alcohol, and just recently moved from one on the east coast. The rating is comparative to the others in the area. The Provo DABS Utah State store has friendly faces but is very small and difficult to park at, while the Orem DABS location has a pretty surly staff in my experience. Both Orem and Springville are equally convenient to me, so it was a no-brainer to switch. Springville is larger and has a super-friendly staff. Yeah, the prices and state oversight and all that, but the people in the stores themselves don't set them so if you have a problem with the set-up contact your elected representatives. If you can separate the system from the store, this one is a good place in its own right. Give it a try. read more

Beware!!! This liquor store sells to underage kids using fake I.D's. A lot of UVU and BYU students go to this liquor store on Friday and Saturdays and sales clerks do a terrible job of looking closely at the fake ID! We sent an undercover kid in to see how hard it is to buy alcohol...apparently very easy here! read more

Great selection of alcohol and I have always been treated courteously here. The only downside is their hours are inconsistent due to a lack of staffing so they don't stay open till 10 some nights. I really recommend calling ahead of time if it's after 8 to confirm they're still open. I prefer going here rather than to the Provo and Orem liquor stores simply because it is always a lot less crowded and the layout of the store is very open. read more

Repeatedly closed during posted hours. I often waste a trip driving out there after checking their hours online, only for them to be closed despite what their website, google maps, and the signs posted on their door says. Wish I could find a reliable place to buy liquor-- the only way to ensure they will be open when you arrive is to call them on the phone and ask the person working there. Okay, so I'm an out of towner and this whole "dry county" thing is very foreign to me so please take that into consideration as you read this. I was in Utah for a family Thanksgiving and traditionally, this means wine and beer and champagne for a lot of people. We knew we needed to go somewhere besides the grocery to get these things so we took the time to drive a bit to the state liquor store. Did we find alcohol, yes. Were we disappointed with the selection, also yes. The beer was okay, and hard liquor had some options but wine was non-existent and champagne were slim pickins'. I don't know that there's much to do about it other than I wanted to share should an AZ traveler find themselves in a dry county and need to check their expectations. I do wonder if a little research by the owner might help stock their shelves though- maybe take a look at your neighboring states to see what they carry most often. read more

I've always had a love hate relationship with liquor stores. Washington used to have them but Utah is the extreme when it comes to these places. This location of the state ran booze monopoly is quite a bit nicer than some of the others I've been to. The physical size of the store is pretty large. Lots of space to park and lots of racks of things to look at. The wine selection is the biggest thing here. I'm not sure how many winos live in Utah County but by the looks of it, there must be a lot. The spirits selection isn't all that bad. You can find all the basics and a few top shelf liquors along the outer ring of the store. The beer selection is lacking at best. You purchase the beer by the single bottle, just so you're aware. The staff of this location are great. Friendly and talkative (if you're into chatting up people.) The building is always clean. read more

This is very typical Utah State Liquor store stale unfriendly spartan and just downright lousy. The selection on Liquor & Beer is very typical and they seem to keep pretty well stocked. Labeled a wine store NOT. Employees are clueless and they put the little reviews of wines up and usually they are the wrong vintage & even the wrong wine/varietal etc. staff just wants to get you in and out w/out any hassle. This store is just like most others in Utah. Overpriced and little selection. They tend to focus on wines and have a decent selection of spirits. The beer section is lacking a lot of..... Well, beer.
