Awful service. On May 12th, they started work on sprinkler retrofit to bring it up to code in our community. The work was done after about 5-6 weeks, which was a reasonable and expected timeline. As of today (Oct 11th), 5 months later, they are still struggling with getting the permit approved from the city. Error after error, staff changes, and missteps along the way, all the residents in our building are still unable to fully use their garages since May of this year due to their incompetence. My condo complex used them to replace our fire alarm system. Every unit they touched they had to test the system which resulted in 3-5 seconds of alarms going off in all units every 20-30 minutes for multiple days. This made it almost impossible to effectively live in my space and caused severe anxiety for all in my household. When asked why they had to test the whole system for every install I was told it was because they did not want to schedule a full test later and rely on individuals being present in their units. (There are ways to get around this issue they just won't do it) This seems like a project management issue. They should come up with a better plan to not disturb occupants lives, but that is not their primary concern. If your condo/apartment complex chooses them... you should probably book a hotel or get out of town as much as you can while they are working (except when they FORCE you to be in your unit.) Just like all the recent reviews say, Statcomm's customer service is horrible. I called in to ask for an ETA on fire inspections they're performing at our condos. As she was asking for the information, she sounded exasperated before I could even answer her. It only got worse from there. I didn't get the answers I called for but I made sure to let her know her horrible attitude was completely unwarranted and unnecessary and hung up. Maybe she doesn't know her attitude stinks? As others have mentioned, Statcomm is not responsive and they allow the building's system fault alarm to go on for months. It can be heard all over the community because multiple alarms go off every 10 seconds 24/7 Their work on fire system plumbing is also defective. They've "fixed" multiple water back flow valves. Within days they start leaking again. Their selling point is having some of the lowest fees... well if you don't spend on workers to fix things or buy proper parts, it makes it pretty easy to undercut the competition. Please please do not work with Statcomm if you are a property manager. They designed their fire and sprinkler panels to go off every single time it loses connection to the internet. It then emits a nonstop beeping noise until a technician arrives to turn it off. Of course the technician never arrives so it will beep days at a time. Our HOA hired Statcomm several years ago to provide our fire inspection services and more recently to install our wireless fire alarm panel. They were much better than the company we worked with before. Since I joined the HOA board in June this year, Statcomm has always been happy to answer our questions and work with us to resolve problems and misunderstandings. A lot of the negative reviews of Statcomm on Yelp are due to people's lack of understanding of what ALL fire inspection companies do. They will all charge you if they have to come back to inspect a unit that wasn't accessible during a scheduled inspection. They are also all legally mandated to continue to conduct in-unit fire inspections during COVID. Much like many of the people giving negative reviews of Statcomm on Yelp, I discovered that past complaints at our HOA were based on a misunderstanding of what fire inspection companies are responsible for. If they had just given Statcomm a call and dealt directly with them, their misunderstandings would have been resolved more quickly. Special shoutout to Mahdi Bizhand, design engineer at Statcomm. He went the extra mile for us with our wireless fire alarm replacement panel. I highly recommend working with Statcomm (and calling them directly to correct possible misunderstandings before posting them on Yelp). read more

Statcomm is absolutely terrible. They work in our neighborhood through the HOA, and their equipment has been faulty for nearly a year. It sets off multiple alarms which go off 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The alarms require a resident of the neighborhood to silence it every single day just to get some peace & quiet, before sounding off again the next day. This issue was brought up in October 2021, and in September 2022 the alarms are still constantly going off. They say they need permission from the city to make any changes...but since the system was not designed to alarm 24 hours a day, either the equipment is faulty or they installed it incorrectly. Either way, I would highly recommend using a different company. The company has been asked: "Can you temporarily pause the alarms?" No. "Can you fix the equipment?" No. "Can you at least lower the volume of the alarms so they don't wake up my newborn?" No. "Can you contact the city to expedite your work on it?" No. "Can you give me a rough estimate as to when the alarms might stop?" No. These interactions indicate everything you need to know about their interest in placing customers first. If you have any issue, it's very much a "not my problem" sort of organization. read more

Disrupting shelter in place order. This company should not have been keep on taking in business as a pandemic is going on. I fear that their inspectors are spreading covid amongst the neighborhoods that they have been in since they do enter multiple people's residences and may have come in contact with the virus at any point. They will not let me do my own test while they witness the alarms working. That should've been the reasonable thing to do from outside the homes. What difference does it make if I test it working and they testing it working? Also, during an inspection an employee is seen only wearing his mask halfway, exposing his nose completely. Really disappointed my HOA decided to switch to this company for our fire alarm testing. They cannot even keep accurate records of which units have been inspected. Mine was already inspected but I came home last week to a note on my door with a one week notice that I have to be home for an inspection at a specific time with no exceptions. BS lip service company that shafts the property management and associations for exorbitant fees and inability to plan, coordinate, or schedule. Their service and recording keep only seem to magically become accurate when they get to charge you additional fees or reschedule services they conveniently scheduled for dates they know customers can not accommodate. They're the only game in town so it's not like you have any choice but to pay them because more often than not, it's their lazy cliche union attitude on doing things as inefficient as possible. They left me with a sour taste. Our HOA (they must love these contract as it is super easy for them and they can charge a lot) hired them to inspect our sprinkler system (the annual check up) and they tell you on which day they come. I could not be there on the day they gave us as we had to go out of town last me minute. Also, they only work on week days during the day which is not that convenient when most people work weekdays during the day. They did come back later, did their 3 min inspection and then my HOA sends me a bill because Statcomm charged for having to come back. When you do inspection on a large HOA (over 100 units), they should know that sometimes the homeowner cannot make it. They should at least give a 2nd or 3rd chance to come back. Right now, I was charged $150 and it feels like they get free money from homeowners. Maybe I should change my line of work and start ripping off people like that. read more

I have use Statcomm for over 4 years now and I'm glad I chose them after my bad experience with the previous contractor. Jeff Hurley is very knowledgeable and professional. He replies to my calls right away and schedules service and repairs immediately. They started only taking care of my gates and now they service our fire system and extinguishers. I believe that Statcomm Inc may have caused permanent damage to my hearing while testing fire alarms in the Coyote Creek apartment complex in Milpitas on 5/22 around 4:30 pm (with residents in their units). And then again later on 5/22 after 7 pm. I think there's a city noise ordinance that sets in at 7 pm as well. Whether or not my hearing was damaged, I want this behavior to stop, along the lines of gross negligence and public health endangerment. I was working from home on 5/22 when a guy who said he was "from the fire department" rung my door bell and then proceeded to set off all the fire alarms in my townhome about 10-15 sec later. I believe that the decibels of these alarms are sufficient to do permanent damage to one's hearing. From what I read online at a CDC website, a sound of 120 dB is capable of doing permanent damage within a matter of seconds. I think these alarms might emit sound between 115-125 dB. I have a Ph.D. in engineering. I'm not just pulling the number of 120 dB out of thin air. It was louder than a chainsaw, and maybe as loud as a jackhammer. Maybe louder. I could hear these alarms going off from 500 ft away, I just did not know that they would give me no warning before testing my unit. And I was about 5 ft away coming down the stairs to open the front door when they set it off the first time. Whereas my building complex posted notices that they would be conducting inspections on 5/22 during a 4-hour window, I had no way of vacating the building within the time they provided me after ringing my door bell (about 10 seconds). And then they came back later after 7 pm and buzzed me again with no warning, evidently just to antagonize me / for sport. So not only are they damaging my hearing, but I believe that of everyone within this community. My neighbors, in their hundreds, were subjected to this treatment while they were inside their buildings on 5/22 as well. They're just too ignorant to be wary of such situations. The workmen performing the tests summarily dismissed my requests and refused to talk or to stop doing what they were doing. In addition they misrepresented who they were and what agency hired them. They represented themselves as being hired by the city of Milpitas. As well as making up ridiculous stories about being fined for not letting them in my building. I think the public at large is quite ignorant of the damage fire engines, fire alarms, ambulances, jackhammers etc can do within 0-10 seconds let alone minutes. We should have been given the opportunity to get away from the alarms first. But Statcomm refused to discuss, negotiate, be reasonable or do anything other than mock my requests and making a game of antagonizing me, as witnessed by coming back to set off the alarms for my unit alone after 7 pm. My HOA hired Statcomm Inc. to perform the fire sprinkler testing and inspection at our subdivision. The crew of two workers came to my home where they spent more than 5 hours working on my sprinkler system. Without any warning they cut two large holes in my ceiling (approximately 10'' x 10''). They disposed the sheet rock (that could have been used later to cover these holes) and left the glass fiber exposed for the residents to breath in and potentially get lung problems. It was only when the crew was leaving, I noticed the damages. They were about to walk out without even letting me know. They explained that they had no other way to fix the sprinklers but to open the ceiling. The leader assured me that my HOA would later fix these damages, but my HOA said this was not their responsibility. I then asked that they contacted the Statcomm on my behalf to address this matter. I have received two separate replies from Statcomm that they were not liable, and that I should pay for fixing these damages myself. I requested that my HOA sent me the Contract with Statcomm to examine the liability clause. To my surprise, the Statcomm included the clause that stated the following: "Statcomm Inc. is not responsible for any touch up paint, stucco repair, wall patching, texturing, etc. due to installation/relocating devices/replacement of devices." Based on this a Statcomm's crew can come to a person's home and do their job as careless and sloppy as they want, make any damages they want, yet still walk away without any liability. With such a Contract, a home owner - a consumer is not protected, but Stotcomm made sure to protect itself. I made my last, 3rd attempt to communicate with Statcomm's VP Operations, Richard Schwank directly. Mr. Schwank sent me a lengthy reply with excuses and explanation why Statcomm was not responsible. His main point was that they had to open the ceiling due to some problems with my sprinkler system. Of course, this I could never check. If the Statcomm's crew had to cut holes in my ceiling to get their job done, that is fine, but they should have finished the job by closing the ceiling, or by sending a contractor to finish the job, or by offering financial compensation. Basically, they fixed one thing, but badly damaged the other. I found the Statcomm position unacceptable. Any contractor must be responsible for damages that they cause to a person's home while they perform their work. I, as a home owner would have never signed an Agreement where a contractor has no responsibility for any damages. Unfortunately such an Agreement was signed by my HOA making Statcomm legally not liable. Having these holes fixed by a contractor will now cost me no less than $1,000. He took the time to visit our space and help us decide exactly what we need. The installation team was fantastic and professional (although a little behind schedule, but that's to be expected). Due to my installing a replacement garage door opener , my older (1980's) openers and receiver became outdated and incompatible. Since the garage is in a gated community, new garage/gate openers and receiver were needed to open both and someone suggested I contact Statcomm for a solution. I called Statcomm and spoke with Brad in their commercial services dept. and he described what was needed and gave me a ball park est. for this job over the phone. The work was committed for the following Monday morning and sure enough their technician was on time and did a nice job of changing my multi-code devices. I am very pleased with the outcome of the work and the professional way that I was treated by Brad and the new devices now open both entry gate and a garage door as originally intended. Had a work order for one sprinkler installation with drawings for the the permit. Asked every week for an update and it took me a month with no answer besides let me call the engineer and get back to you to finally let these guys go. One month asking every week for an update on what's going on I think is more than reasonable. Don't know what happened on there end but they wasted a whole month and it costed me $. I did call around for pricing and they did beat everybody tho but like I hear all the time you get what you pay for. read more

MY experiences range from them coming out to an annual inspection and none of their people on-site knowing how to inspect the current alarms, gross billing errors, outrageous billing for minor tasks and most lately providing a report citing that 4 alarms in a unit need replacing when each unit is equipped with only 1 alarms. People are polite and proffesional. Our non profit in San Jose awarded Statcom the job of bringing an all member access system to our community pool about ten years ago. They wern't the lowest bidder but we were impressed with them. In fact our system needed to be upgraded latley and once again they came in high but because we had three bids we was able to remove the "extras" they had included that were not needed to get them close enough to compete.(gave them 2nd shot) After awarding them the extra work we requested some extra access cards. These sell for between $3.00 and $3.44 on the internet and we have purchased them before from Statcomm for an inflated $6.00 but we saw this as supporting our vendor. We recently requested 100 more cards from Brad Hancock who without notice of a price increase sent them at $12.00 per card, plus a $50.00 admin fee plus $22.00 shipping. Again you could go to the internet today and get them sent to you in batch's of 50 for $3.00 each card. That's $300.00. Our bill from Stattcom is almost $1,400.00. These guys weren't scheduled to come by for any work today, but called me to see if I was home and if they could come by to fix the last repairs. Honestly, Rita - This looks SOOO much better than if we tried to spackle and paint afterward. I am super happy with the results. I'm sure all the other tenants will be tickled also. He had a BIG bag of rings for the rest of the building. Frank was extremely professional, friendly, and VERY quick with his repairs. It took him no less than FIVE minutes to replace the rings. They said that they have had to schedule a lot of "drywall repair," that is the property manager's responsibility to fix. This would involve a spackle and paint job on the owner's part. I asked if they had larger rings to cover up with instead (like the former sprinkler model). The guy checking it said that, to his knowledge, they do. But they are very large rings. Holy hell I can't even begin to explain how much these guys saved me. I'm a contractor, doing a job at a sorority house, and I clip one of their fire sprinklers with the rack on my van. OH MY GOD IT WAS A MESS. I shut the water off, gather my wits, and call up Statcomm. I want to say the girl that answered the phone was named Emily, and I explained my situation. She sent MY HERO DANNY out to assess the situation. I had to pay emergency rates to get him out there, but when you've got 52 girls without water what can you really do? He got everything straightened out enough that they could have their water back but he had to return today to finish the job. I got the bill for the emergency call, and it was $315. I'm still waiting for the rest of the bill for the actual repair work, but so far they have been way more than fair to me. If I didn't have them up my sleeve I would have been completely screwed. read more

This is the 'dumbest" and most unorganized company that I have ever worked with. They recently conducted a fire alarm test and inspection for the townhouse complex that I live in. Not only did they not record the inspection they conducted, but they rescheduled a 2nd inspection. When I called to discuss they said they would follow up and return my call on a given date. They did not. So, I had to call them back only to be told that the barking dog that I have (I don't have a dog) restricted them from entering the home and that my husband ( I DON'T HAVE A HUSBAND) said that he would be available at another time. They accepted no responsibility for their errors and are requiring me to be available at an inconvenient time to accommodate them. To make matters worse, there's more to the story. read more

They're coming out next week to "reinspect" the sprinklers in my condo. This will be the 4th time I've been told that I "must" be home when they come or I will be charged for "an additional service call". One would think that the first 3 times would have been enough of an inconvenience to me, since two of those times were during the work day and this one plus one other were from 4-8pm, which still requires me to leave work early, but no, I am to bend to their incompetence once again. If it were up to me, my HOA would not use this company, but as it is I guess I am stuck with this sort of shenanigans. I won't even go into the cost of replacing the sprinkler heads that took them 5 minutes to do. Completely unprofessional, would give "0" stars if I could! I had a problem with my call box from the driveway gate connecting to the house phone and Statcomm was on the recommended vendor list of my DoorKing intercom system. After explaining the problem in detail over the phone to several different people, they sent out their "senior" tech to trouble shoot. After checking for 4 hours and charging me $600 they "suspect" there is a problem with the underground wiring. The tech didn't bother to run a wire above ground to verify the underground wire was the cause of the problem. He can't be sure that will fix it but thinks it should along with completely rewiring the inside wiring. The tech said he will give me a quote to completely rewire inside and outside, with new trenching from the gate to the house. This never happened. I tried to call back multiple times for a quote and spoke with various managers and scheduler but NO ONE ever bothered to call back! With these good Yelp reviews, may be they are good at installing but DEFINITELY can't fix a problem, possibly incompetent in diagnostic ability as well. The worst thing is the my gate is only 3 years old, so the wiring and such should be relatively new. To have recommended retrenching and rewiring without verifying by running an above ground wire or any follow up is VERY UNPROFESSIONAL after taking $600 from me and left me no better than before they came, except $600 poorer. read more
