The burger was massive, delicious and cooked medium rare as I'd ordered it. The fries were tasty, too. The cookies though - if you love super soft and rich cookies you will love these! So buttery and warm, and the pecan cookie was loaded with nuts. The owner (or chef?) explained everything is cooked to order - even those yummy cookies. I was very happy with my meal and will return!

It's an old theatre so quite historic to be eating inside. The decor is very unique like you walked into someone's home for dinner with the family. The food is made fresh. Lettuce and tomato are organic, beef is never frozen, they have fresh home made potato chips. Their burger is HUGE on a brioche bun. It's the greasy gourmet burger that is filling and worth the money. Their Cajun shrimp Mac and cheese is delicious! Ending it with their organic Mexican coffee was the perfect dessert. Only thing to remember is that there's no bathrooms so you have to go next door to Nellys sports bar. With that in mind, there's one chef making all the food so you sacrifice some time for fresh made food which is still well worth it. There's street parking in front of the store.

Miss Monticello Diner: A Catskills Tradition…read more I recently stopped for lunch at Miss Monticello Diner with friends, continuing our annual tradition of dining there as we travel west to Pennsylvania. With a table of eight, we were impressed by how efficiently and professionally our server handled the large group. Everyone enjoyed their meals, and the experience was a wonderful start to our journey. I ordered the lamb shank from the specials menu, served over a bed of rice and accompanied by matzo ball soup. Both were excellent. The lamb was tender and flavorful, while the matzo ball soup was comforting and well prepared. It was exactly the kind of satisfying, home-style meal I hope to find at a classic diner. What makes Miss Monticello especially memorable, however, is its history. The diner has been a community anchor and beloved Catskills landmark for nearly a century. Its roots date back to the late 1920s or 1930s, and it began as a classic silver train-car diner before evolving and expanding over the decades to serve both local residents and visitors to the Catskills during the height of the Borscht Belt era. For many years, the diner was operated by its original owner, Carl Salomon. In 1991, it entered a new chapter when Dimitrios "Jimmy" and Dimitra Nikolados, Greek immigrants, purchased the restaurant. Jimmy, who had immigrated from Chios, Greece, to Brooklyn in 1969, brought his New York diner experience to Monticello. Under the Nikolados family, the menu expanded to include popular Greek and Mediterranean specialties alongside traditional American diner favorites. Today, the family legacy continues through Jimmy's sons, George and Steve Nikolados, who have helped maintain the diner as a genuinely family-run establishment. George has also been deeply involved in the local community and went on to serve as Mayor of the Village of Monticello. Miss Monticello Diner is more than just a place to grab a meal--it is part of the history and character of the Catskills. The combination of good food, friendly service, family ownership, and nearly a century of local history makes it a worthwhile stop. A wonderful place to continue an annual tradition.

Even the bathroom was updated and clean. My bride and I hopped over from Resorts World. Took less than 10 minutes. We have the fondest memories of this area. Our server, or as we said back in the day, waitress, Evelyn, was friendly and fantastic. We had delicious omelets with potatoes and we each substituted muffins for toast. Gloria had a mushroom & cheese with a blueberry muffin. I had a veggie omelet with a toasted bran muffin which was toasted to perfection on the grill. Everything was tasty, hot and accurate. Evelyn was a crackerjack on coffee refills. And the coffee was way better than what was served at Resorts. This will be our goto whenever we are in the area!

When you're here you know what you're going to get out of the establishment. We were given seats at the bar promptly, we were served water early and were asked for our orders at a timely manner. Everyone behind the counter was helpful to us. As I admired their work it was easy to see how Tilly's has remained a local favorite. The continuous boots on the ground - foot traffic of bussing tables, serving food, taking orders - was all calculated chaos. At the heart of it all was the food that came at a reasonable time and the conversations you had with local neighbors and customers who sat near you. The French toast was delicious, not too sweet but the syrup was aplenty. The omelette was seasoned well, packed with flavor. However the potatoes were serviceable at best. We ordered the blueberry double-stacked pancakes (which the waitress sweetly put a smiley face on), a side of bacon, and a few omelettes- with bacon and cheese and another with sausage. Both came with home fries. Everything was hot, filling, and exactly what you want from a classic diner breakfast. The bacon was a standout! crispy and delicious (had to order an extra side). Coffee for the grown-ups and a hot cocoa rounded things out perfectly. Friendly service, comforting food, and those little touches like the smiley face on the pancakes made the whole experience feel warm and welcoming. A great spot for a relaxed breakfast.
