There were hardware glitches after installation, but the Got Watts team reliably spotted them - without me realizing there was even an issue - and sent teams out to ensure my equipment worked as promised. Years later I noticed some leaks through my roof where some phase 2 panels were installed. I notified Got Watts and they sent large crews to my home to rectify the issue over several days. This was no small fix. They probably spent vastly more to rectify the leaks than they did to install the panels to begin with. No one likes to have problems with an install. But, it means a lot for a contractor to honor their commitment and spend vast sums to honor their warranty, and their word, to their customer. I've had "good companies" make promises they wouldn't honor once the initial check cleared. Got Watts was true to their word and treated me in a dignified manner that is rare these days. I got answers from Darlene that did not make sense. Sometimes her computer was down other times her phone was down. Sometimes she would call to give me a message only to realize that she had called the wrong customer. Did not enjoy working with her. Finally, Kara engaged and we got the Permission to Operate about two months after the install. Supposedly Jeff (the Business Owner) is no longer with the company and has gone back East, so not sure who is leading their future efforts. Our roof Foreman Omar was fantastic. He went above and beyond to give us installation expectations and was able to communicate potential work order changes needed to bring our roof up to code. Omar also went above and beyond to work with helping clean up our neighbor's yard. There was windy weather that blew some of our material into their yard which didn't go unnoticed. We didn't know this till after roof completion and our neighbors were impressed by the thoughtfulness of the guys working. Our project Manager Johnathan was also a great source of help through this process and was very understanding and sympathetic to our unfortunate unknowns that needed to be fixed. From start to finish he was able to walk us through the difficult navigation of cost and what absolutely needed to be fixed right. We loved that we were treated like actual people instead of a number in a queue. Given that there was a slight backlog of jobs they had to work through we were assured that we would have our system fully installed and activated before the end of the year, which we did! It was great working with Nick who was our onsite rep and Juan was always available to answer any questions we had by phone (of which I had many). I spoke with many contractors, and almost all of them sent salespeople who gave generic answers or tried to push cookie-cutter solutions that clearly didn't fit my setup. Carlos was completely different. From the moment he arrived, it was clear he wasn't a salesperson -- he's an engineer, and it shows. He took the time to deeply understand my system, reviewed actual spec sheets on the spot, and immediately identified issues that other contractors completely missed. Multiple companies told me Hyundai panels would work fine. Carlos checked the amperage limits, applied proper safety margin calculations, and clearly explained why those panels would not work with my EcoFlow system -- saving me from a costly mistake. Theses panels have done an incredible job of heating our pool throughout the years, thanks to Diablo Solar maintaining them. Recently we had to replace our roof. Diablo Solar worked closely with us to take the panels off and put them back on right before and right after our roof was replaced. The crew did an amazing job! They were super polite, friendly, knowledgeable, professional and considerate. Zach, Gary and Joe took the panels off. They carefully placed them in our yard and did not damage a single piece. Solar optimum offered me Panasonic solar panels with a warranty guarantee from Panasonic which essentially guaranteed that as long as Solar optimum or any other certified installer installed our system that even if Solar Optimum were to go out of business, Panasonic would pick up the workmanship and product warranty for 25 years - this was something that no other company I reached out too could offer and to me made it clear that I wanted to go with Solar Optimum. After install Panasonic did send me a warranty certificate warranting the panels should Solar Optimum go out of business. The system works well. In its first year it significantly outperformed the estimated production by about 3MWH and YTD it will soon pass the production estimate for the entire 2024 year. There were two big issues when working with Solar Optimum - communication was brutal and would constantly be a back and forth of unanswered emails, non returned phone calls, and overall poor communication. The second issue was after install the installers drilled holes too deep and through my ceiling drywall and coordinating the install team to come out and fix it wasn't easy and took longer than it should have - when they finally came out to patch my drywall they smeared over some putty in the 8-10 holes, didn't paint it and didn't try and match the patches with my roofs texture leaving that responsibility with me. However because they're a smaller company there are far less mark ups compared to other solar companies and the price was far more competitive than any other company I cross shopped with an outstanding Panasonic backed warranty.

Before Simply Solar, I had been looking for nearly a year, and had gone through the estimate process with 6 different vendors (both local and national). It felt like I was dealing with the worst auto salesman. Slimy, expensive, impatient, unprofessional... it sucked. I found David Frank and Simply Solar on a local parent group discussion where basically *everyone* recommended them. I remained skeptical, but set up a call anyway. Best decision ever. They're not the very cheapest, but they're close. And the whole crew just made me feel at ease every step of the way. Shop around, but definitely include David and crew when getting quotes.

Update: After some back and forth with the COO of Simply Solar, he finally agreed to uphold the…read moreterms of our original contract and do the removal / reinstall at no cost, per the terms of the signed agreement. We have contacted them requesting a date to reinstall the panels, but have not heard back. Our roof was completed on 9/20, and we are now waiting for the reinstall date to be scheduled. As the timeline for our roof was known when we first requested the removal / reinstall, we are at a loss as to why we are having to wait 5-6 weeks to have the panels put back up on our roof. At this time, they sit stacked on our deck, with the rails piled off to the side. Thankfully we have space to accommodate all of the parts, (the rails are 30 feet long and a tripping hazard). We hope that the parts will not be damaged during the almost 2 months they will be sitting on the ground, assuming the work is done in the next 3 weeks. We still have not been told a date for the reinstall of the panels. This is now costing us money in lost solar energy.

I could use more power but since my original installer went bankrupt, I have been unable to find a company to work on adding panels economically. Each company contacted wants to sell me a new system, which is not what I want, need, or afford. We went back and forth on this a couple of times in two or three separate calls and came to the mutual decision that the cost was not worth the additional "juice" I would get. Unfortunately, much of this is a result of both inflation (rising cost of materials due to tariffs) and the withdrawal of rebates and other benefits to installing solar. I still firmly believe installing solar is the correct thing to do for our environment and our world. I truly appreciated Diego's honesty in being upfront about the cost. For this reason, although it did not work out for us, I highly recommend working with this company if you want to install solar panels.

Juan was very thorough and I appreciated his cleanup when he was done.There was no scraps of wire, electric tape, nothing left on the ground, which was very much appreciated. And as a side note, there are four houses on our street who have used Northern Pacific Power for their solar needs. Which I would think in itself, is a pretty good recommendation.

Five stars for the installation -- outstanding project manager and crew: responsive, punctual,…read moreprofessional, top-quality work. One star for the sales process. When we raised concerns, I believe the salesperson my partner dealt with wanted to make things right, but sales leadership stepped in, dismissed our concerns as unfounded, and offered nothing. Those concerns were (and still are): 1) Sketchy contract execution. NPP offers a 5-year prepaid lease in partnership with Balto Energy. It lets homeowners offset installation costs because the leasing company collects a 30% federal tax credit (no longer available to homeowners) and, in NPP's words, "monetizes that tax credit over 5 years." The contract was executed by sending the DocuSign to just one partner, with all owners lumped onto a single signature line -- one person signing on behalf of the other. For a married couple in California, that's legally questionable under community property law, given a) the encumbrances placed on jointly owned property, and b) no power of attorney authorizing one spouse to sign for the other. I never saw the agreement until installation was underway. 2) Misleading claims. My partner was told, verbally and in writing, that we'd "own the system outright" at the end of the 5-year term. In truth, the contract contains only vague language about a fair-market-value buyout, with no detail on how to initiate it or who to contact at end of lease. We've had zero contact with Balto through this entire process -- only NPP -- yet NPP's sales director told us they have no role in the lease agreement once it's signed. In other words, they don't stand behind the product they sell. Don't be like us -- do your diligence (especially if you're over 65 and new to solar leases), verify every claim against the actual contract language, and make sure all owners review and sign every agreement.
