Company's Coming is one of the preferred caterers at the arboretum. I thought they did a great job from cocktail hour through the reception. Cocktail hour took place on the "Out on a Limb" tree canopy exhibit, 50 feet above ground. Bars were set up both inside and outside the exhibit. As we approached the exhibit, the bartenders/servers manning the bar outside the entrance were warm and welcoming. They set the tone for the night. The bar inside the exhibit had more drinks than the bar outside. It was a full bar with top-shelf liquor. The staff was dressed formally. Food during cocktail hour consisted of the following passed hors d'oeuvres: * Grilled bruschetta with tomato and basil * Belgian endive with shrimp and crab salad * Chicken satay with peanut sauce * Sirloin teriyaki skewers with mandarin segments * Smoked salmon with caviar and cream cheese I thought these appetizers were delicious. My favorite was the smoked salmon with caviar and cream cheese. My least favorite was the sirloin teriyaki skewers. The sirloin was a bit dry and tough and there were no mandarin segments. The smoked salmon with caviar and cream cheese were well-made. They were served in bite-size portions, full of flavor. The grilled bruschetta with tomato and basil tasted crisp and fresh. The Belgian endive with shrimp and crab salad was unique, light, and elegant. The chicken satay with peanut sauce was yummy, but a little messy with peanut sauce dripping off people's skewers. My only real gripe during cocktail hour was there were not enough trash receptacles. People ended up using cocktail tables to discard their used skewers, plates, cups, and napkins so some tables didn't serve their real purpose. I don't know if that's on Company's Coming, the arboretum, or both. The dinner reception was held inside a tent connected to the backside of the arboretum's visitor center. We were seated at 10-person round tables, assigned seating, for a seated three-course meal. When RSVP-ing for the wedding, my fiancee and I made our dinner entree selections. We had three choices: steak, fish, and vegetarian. Here's what we had: Salad course * Warm goat cheese salad with dried cherries and a warm sherry-bacon dressing Entree course * Chilean sea bass * Beef filet with red wine shallot sauce * Sides: trio of roasted potatoes, oven-roasted vegetable medley Dessert * Two kinds of wedding cake: chocolate and red velvet Overall, I thought the food was very good. These were simple, safe choices. I really enjoyed the warm goat cheese salad and the wedding cake. The quality of the entrees was good considering they were mass-produced for roughly 150 guests. The salad consisted of spinach and also some sort of candied nuts (if I recall correctly). It doesn't take much to please me when it comes to salads and I thought this one tasted fresh. The dressing was tasty and it wasn't overpowering. As for the entrees, I preferred the Chilean sea bass over the beef filet. Both the fish and the steak were nicely cooked. The fish had excellent, appetizing texture and the steak was cooked to a medium/medium rare (warm pink/red center). The steak had a good amount of sauce on it, but I was hoping the meat would be more tender and juicy. Still, not bad. The fish had a delectable pineapple and dragon fruit "salsa" on top. The potatoes and veggies were fine. The veggies consisted of squash, zucchini, and roasted red peppers. The cake was really good. There were actually three flavors, but they quickly ran out of one of the flavors so we only got to try the chocolate and red velvet flavors. These were basic flavors, but well done. I've been to a lot of weddings and I rarely remember the cakes afterwards. I remember these, so I guess that says something. Company's Coming sources their wedding cakes from longtime Philly bakery Night Kitchen Bakery & Cafe. Throughout the night, the staff was attentive and polite. While the staff could serve drinks, neither Company's Coming nor the venue provided the alcohol. That was the responsibility of the bride and groom, perhaps for the better, price-wise. A couple things we noticed that Company's Coming provided for the wedding that our caterer is not are centerpieces for the tables (Company's Coming provided wooden table numbers and tree-themed centerpieces with real candles) as well as card boxes to receive wedding cards.

Much more than just catering, Alicia helped walked us through all processes of organizing our wedding. Patience with multiple tastings, which allowed us to feel confident in the food we were serving. They have a great variety in the dishes you can choose from, as well as the flexibility to add anything you my specifically want to request. We went with the sous vide filet, salmon and artichoke lasagna. The food came out great! Alicia provided great insight into the different options we had at our venue. Working with us on table set up and just the general visualization of the night. Time was made for multiple venue visits, even during the Covid era. This greatly reduced the day of stress. It became crystal clear this company was experienced. Personally, the biggest reason I'd recommend Company's Coming Catering is because of their handling on the day of. All of this planning comes down to one single day. It was wonderful to have confidence that on the day of, we could just sit back and enjoy our day. Everything was handled! We gave Kevin our deposit months prior to finding out he never contacted the county office to reserve the date for the Smithville Mansion. We found out only after contacting Smithville about something else. They were not communicative. We tried quite a few times to set up a tasting. Once we finally heard back and set up a date, we found ourselves sitting in a cluttered, cramped storage room. Kevin barely talked to us since he was more concerned about discussing a new business venture with another gentleman. Showing how disorganized he is, he did not know that we already booked them to cater at Smithville, etc. I found him very gruff and unprofessional. It also took them forever to contact us back about who the bakery was and their contact information so we could order the cake. Speaking of gruff, the serving staff, except for a few, were also a bit rude. For instance, no one served the bride and groom hor de vours, so I, as the mother of the bride, cut in line to get some, saying why and who it was for. Servers were very rude until one agreed to help me. This could be because the woman who was supposed to be the maitre d was not able to do her job. They lied to me, saying that one of the bartenders did not show, but I found out that even though we paid for extra bartenders, they never hired/set them up, so she had to cover them. They accused me of providing a broken slushie drink machine when they obviously did not read even the 1st line on the directions about not putting ice into the machine. Once we arrived and corrected them, luckily, it was not broken, and then it worked fine. My husband and several others were told that they could not use some of our alcohol for mixed drinks because there was not enough... LIE. There were at least 2 bottles of every type, and we have PLENTY leftover. I had to correct this. They apparently were concentrating on beer and signature drinks only. My son-in-law also had an issue getting his cooler back from them. He delivered the alcohol using his personal cooler...a higher-end tailgating cooler... I was told that the catering staff asked several times whose it was, and they were told by several people whose it was. They took it with them and then gave my son- in- law a hard time when he wanted to get it back. This too could have been avoided if they communicated AND... IF THEY DID NOT CLEAN EVERYTHING UP AT 9:30 WHEN WE STILL HAD 1/2 AN HOUR LEFT TO THE RECEPTION!!!! I am saying they had pulled everything, tablecloths and all, off the tables, bars closed, etc., by 9:30. They pulled their truck up before guests were even off the dance floor. And the top of the wedding cake was thrown out. My daughter chose McFaddens for the reasonable prices and variety, but we were not happy. If we had known, we would gladly have paid another caterer more to have better communication, and a more professional and pleasant experience for planning and for our guests

I have had 2 affairs catered by Rocco's Gourmet Catering. The first one was good but the second one…read morethey ran out of food. The food was good at both events so I recommended that my sister use the caterer for her wedding. The food at her wedding was horrible. Hardly any was eaten, it was mostly left on their plates. They were married on the beach and the reception was held there. So my sister wanted the reception set up like a boardwalk. She had a photo booth and picked a menu of tossed salad, fruit kabobs, beef sliders, chicken and vegetable kabobs and french fries. The charge for this was over $4000 for 90 adults and 10 children. The caterers did not show up on time. In fact, my sister, the Bride called from her cell phone on her wedding day after being told from my family that she was not there. My family members folded the napkins and decorated the tables. It was during this time that Liz, [the owner] confessed that she was not even there to oversee my wedding reception. She stated to be that she was 7 months pregnant and could not be there. I do not eat meat, dairy or eggs. Liz was informed of this and said that she would have 2 vegan meals. My meal consisted of a silver dollar size vegan burger on a roll with CHEESE!! When I told the server that cheese was not vegan the burgers were brought back into the kitchen and the cheese was scraped off. The caterer only brought 2 small vegan burgers and did not make any of the chicken vegetable kabobs without chicken. Also the caterer did not bring enough food. There were several people still in line when the food ran out. Both the Bride and the Groom waited for their guests to be served and were left without food. Actually as soon as the guests tasted the terrible food no one wanted to eat it! My sister paid for 100 and about 85 came. There were only two items served by Rocco's Gourmet Catering that were satisfactory, they were the fruit kabobs and the tossed salad. Everything else was cold and tasted terrible. Luckily the wedding cupcakes were not from Rocco's. They were delicious and well appreciated by the guests. I am writing this review to warn any bride and groom not to use this caterer. It was a disaster!!!
