Terrific shipment center in the Valley. I've been coming here for years when they used to have a…read moredifferent name and they've always done an amazing job. Super friendly and helpful and intelligent, they are an elegant solution to the frequently messy customer service experience when shipping a package. They offer UPS, FedEx, USPS, and DHL shipments and the pricing is no different that going to a FedEx or UPS location, so it's a very convenient way to send out packages requiring multiple carriers. This also allows you to compare prices across various shipping carriers and choose the one with the best price. I can't imagine why I'd go to a dedicated UPS or FedEx store when I can come here and choose the best carrier for my needs, it's perfect. Best of all, they're fantastic at packing fragile or irregular items. No one is going to give the care that these people do -- it's truly thoughtful, and everything always arrives in perfect condition. If you need something packaged right, this is the place to go. You can also drop off return packages here if your carrier is UPS, FedEx, USPS or DHL. If you need tape or to print a label, they can do that for you for $1. There are tons of cardboard boxes for sale here in every imaginable size, plus several kinds of bubble wrap and various other packing materials, and good prices on everything to boot. If there's a shipping-related issue that these people can't solve with high skill and a great attitude, I haven't found it!

"WOW!" is an understatement…read more Several weeks back I had a genuinely traumatic experience while pet sitting for a friend in Park La Brea while she was in NYC for her birthday. One of her cats had bitten the leaf of a of Lily (turns out they are very poisonous! Just Google it...) & needed to be taken to an emergency vet center. But, while shooting a photo of the flowers for the vet's reference - now thrown out into the back patio - my foot slipped and the door closed behind me locking me out of her apartment. Cat, purse, keys, credit cards, all pet sitting info & contacts UNAVAILABLE because once a PLB door closes it is locked (one of their security measures)! I only had my cell phone & my brain get me through this debacle. One neighbor was able to give me PLB Security's phone number. I called and explained the urgency of the situation - time sensitive for the cat. They ignored that I told them my friend was on a plane from NYC to LAX - was unreachable to vouch for me to let me into her unit; left me on hold for almost 20 minutes; still tried to reach her; pretty much good for nothing in this emergency. I hung up and proceeded with Plan B... to get into the apartment with a set of extra keys in possession of the friend picking her up at the airport (who lives in Inglewood AND would need the keys returned). What a fiasco! My mind raced to think of a dependable messenger service who would TRUST me because I had no form of payment available at that moment. Gratefully, I remembered the incredible messenger service we used (for 17 years) when I worked for QAS Productions in Venice... Santa Monica Express (SMEX) Almost daily they made the impossible possible!! I called... and Howard's familiar voice immediately assured me that my problem had an imminent solution. He recognized my voice (even though we had not spoken in about 8 years), dispatched a rush non-stop messenger to Inglewood to pick up the keys and trusted me to provide payment after the fact based on our history. The word "Lifesaver" comes to mind here. It is not an understatement! If SMEX (specifically Howard) had not responded fully & immediately to my urgent plea, Bandit (the cat) could have died. Saying "THANK YOU, SMEX & HOWARD!" seems inadequate. But, it will have to do for now... IF I could give SMEX 10 stars, I would! There simply is NO better - more efficient, dependable, reliable - messenger service in our big crazy city! One less thing to worry about...
