Excellent live music on Tuesday nights or every other Tuesday! Check it out. Cheap beers and friendly service ! Been around forever and getting new attention with the live music crowd !

Wanted to come here for a while now (literally live 10 minutes away) so went with my parents and tried a ton of different things on the menu (wings not shown) I loved the fried shrimp and how thick and stuffed the pierogi were. Atmosphere was a divey bar feel which I loved and it was a Saturday in which they had a band. They had a ton of reservations so highly recommend making one if able!

Been here a few times now and we especially like to go around Lent season- they have a lot of meat free options/fried seafood options. The perogies are INSANE- HUGE they are 1/2 a pound each! Awesome food. Great fish sandwiches. This place was on Guy Fieri's "Triple D" I feel like he goes to a lot of restaurants and a lot of places around PGH are on his show- but this spot is great and worth a visit. The service was great also. Super slow cook time though and can be so crowded and a long wait for your meal- that's why I removed 1 star. We had to wait like 45 minutes for our food before - worth the wait though

Pierogis (pic doesn't do justice - they are huge) and pasta diablo.

I saw this place on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives, and as one who is always ready to try a dive, I had to give this place a try! When you walk in it's truly an eclectic Pittsburgh dive. Fun decorations in the dining room that make you feel like you're at a yinzer family member's home. I got what Guy Fieri got - pierogis and pasta diablo. Two words of advice: come hungry. You get so. much. food. And this is a great thing!! Pierogis were huge and tasty. Plenty of butter and perfect textures from the sear on the outside of the pierogi. Cheesy potato deliciousness. The pasta has a ton of fresh peppers and had good flavor. Carb overload but well worth it. It's a Triple D joint. It's a dive. It's a fun spot to pig out!

    BEST pierogies ever

Starlite pierogis are still my favorite. Huge!!! And it's fun to just buy them frozen to make at home. Starlite has been spruced up over the years, but it's still old school Pittsburgh dive. Lots of regulars. Lots of older folks. Service can be very slow. Only one cook, often Moondog himself (check out Moondog's next door for the best blues bands around-cash only bar there). But the prices are CHEAP for the amount of food you get. I got a big grilled chicken salad that came with grilled chicken, grilled peppers, onions & mushrooms over lettuce & tomatoes & pepperocini. I got a large Tito's & soda & my tab with tax was $16! So there's that. So even if you watched the TV show with Guy Fieri don't come here expecting some fake shi shi dive, this is real true Pittsburgh people & food & an actual dive. I've never had bad food, just very slow service, so always allow over an hour for dinner.

This place doesn't need a review or accolades. It's simply the REAL deal. We had the fish sandwich, the Reuben, the Rachel, the stuffed pepper soup, and sampled the pierogies. All amazing. Next time I'll stick with the spinach & feta pierogies as I'm a cottage cheese & chive purists and these came close. First time here and we will now be regulars.

The best way I could describe this place a Train Wreck, but the train wrecks into some delicious home style cuisine. Upon entering we were immediately greeted with an "oh shit" attitude like they didn't want us to be here. Only one bartender and one cook and somehow that was our fault. Apparently, if you want to eat here, you should call ahead and tell them. Heck, you might as well tell them what you want to order as well so there's no surprises. Before ordering, we were told about a list of items they were out of. We ordered and based on other reviews, we planned on waiting while we visited with people. It didn't seem overly long of a wait and we were there just over 90 minutes. There were lots of goodies to try! Here's a summary of the food, which all came out surprisingly close together for only one cook. Kudo's to him as he was working hard back there! Stuffed Pepper Soup - It's like a liquid stuffed pepper and was a little light on the pepper, but very tasty. Stuffed Banana Peppers - These were stuffed with hot sausage and had a nice spice to them. It made the lack of water refills stand out even more. Chicken Wings - There were 6 whole wings and they were huge. The seasoning was very lightly applied, but they were crispy and fresh. Chicken Wrap - Wasn't oversized like the other items, but enough for a teenager to eat. Chicken Tenders - Nice sized portion for a pre-teen. Reuben - Turns out they ran out so we had to make an audible to sub the Cheese Steak. Cheese Steak - This was a decent sized sandwich and very good. Chicken Parmesan - This plate was huge. Excellent chicken and way too much pasta for one person. Plan on sharing or on a doggie bag. Polish Platter - Two Pierogis, Haluski, Kielbasa and Kraut - All were delicious with ample amounts of food. Pierogi Platter - 3 Giant Pierogis (Jalapeno Cheddar was what I got) and they were super huge. I have never seen Pierogi this big unless you count the ones running around PNC Park. Lots of potatoes and butter and even some applesauce to eat along with it. Another waitress appeared at some point in the time we were there so things weren't as hectic and negative. Honestly, I think the first girl would have been happier if we all just left. It's a shame as the food was very good. I probably wouldn't go back though based on the service (1 star). If you go prepared to wait, then give it a whirl. The food was good.

This is a local, family run restaurant. It was featured on one of Guy Fieri's shows and has some Polish dishes which is unique. I found out about it by chance by looking around on Yelp. I don't want to be too hard on it because I like to support local places and people if possible. The place has their own parking lot a few houses down and only has a couple of people working. This place is most known for their pierogies, but I did not get those. I got the wings. They give you the full wing, so 6 wings here is a dozen elsewhere. The wings are by far the cheapest wings in Pittsburgh as you can get 6 full-wings (or 12 wings everywhere else) for $7.50. The wings don't have any breading on them though, just sauce and are essentially plain wings with light flavoring. I also got the burger and fries. The burger was very big. It probably needed another piece of cheese or more bacon because it was so big that the cheese/bacon didn't cover it. I got a bad batch of fries unfortunately. The fries were all smaller fries and very heavily salted, so I ended up not eating them. My mom got a salad and wasn't a fan of it. Neither one of us really cared for it and we most likely will not be returning.

    Polish platter

Delicious food, great service and live music. Everything was just so good -- the pierogis, kielbasa, noodles, sauerkraut -- delish. We are from out of town, and the only thing I'd change is that two of us would have shared as the platter is enormous. Three enthusiastic thumbs up!

Two potato and cheese pierogis and one spinach and feta.

First of all you just feel welcome when you walk in the door. There is lots of bar sitting, along with some booths and even a couch. We usually grab some seats at the bar. There are frequently events going on and a wide range as well. Some events are ticketed, sometimes there is a cover and sometimes no charge. The artwork is great and all the fun photographs and sayings. Every time I'm there I spot something new. There is even a gumball machine with poetry in it. How cool. Most often we have gone for live music. This time we were in the area and just wanted to grab a drink. They did have a DJ though which was fun. It was also a great choice because they stay open late when so many local places close early. They do have a limited food menu but I have never eaten there. They have a variety of drinks ranging from non alcoholic to beer or wine, even cider. The cocktail menu is where it's at though. There are so many choices and some unique combinations. It's been fun trying so many. I think my favorite drink on the menu is Galeophobia which comes in a fun shark glass. It's fruity without being too sweet and the macadamia liquor adds just the right amount of nuttiness in the background. I seriously could drink several of them. The Spork House Punch is another favorite. Immediately *pinkies up* with the fancy little crystal mug. The pear and lemon gives such great flavor and it's well balanced and an easy drinker. It also feels like a good value with the amount you get. This time my fiancé tried Elvis' death and loved the toilet mug. He said it was tasty but a bit expensive for what it was so he probably wouldn't order it again. Fun bartenders, great drinks, good atmosphere, enjoyable entertainment.. what's not to love?

When we walked in, the host greeted us right away, asked for our name, and seated us pretty quickly. There were actually a good amount of open seats, so I am not sure reservations were completely necessary, but it was still nice to have one. I honestly expected the inside to feel more extravagant and space themed, almost like an outer space vibe with more visual elements and atmosphere. I was hoping for something more immersive and futuristic. It was still cool overall, just not quite as visually dramatic as I imagined. We ordered an espresso martini and the Kiwi Nova. I really enjoyed my drink, especially after talking with the host who explained that they use scientific processes for their cocktails along with fresh purées and fresh ingredients. That is something I really appreciate because I am not a fan of drinks made with a lot of simple syrup or fake additives. He loved his espresso martini and said it was one of the best he has had. My drink was definitely on the sweeter side and I feel like too much of it might lead to a hangover, but it was still really good. Our server was attentive at first, but later on we ended up waiting a while to order another round. After sitting for a bit, we decided to order through the hostess instead and she got us taken care of right away. Overall, it was a cool experience mainly for the drinks. The cocktails were definitely the highlight. Service was okay, and I am not sure if we will return, but I am glad we finally got to check it out.
