This location is one of the best Starbucks in the area, strictly based on staff alone. I love coming to this location as it's always a pleasure to interact with the people here and they're generally super fun to be around. Parking and the drive thru here can get a bit wild at times, so plan accordingly. It's a super busy area with a few restaurants and you have to be careful. The drinks are always made correctly and I've never had to wait too terribly long for much of anything. It's a pleasure to get a drink from Starbucks when I have the time, and even though this is not my "go to" location, I like this spot the best. This is my go-to Starbucks for weekend runs for a special coffee treat. The staff are typically very personable and accommodating so I make the extra drive to this one versus the one closer to home. Today, the store was fairly busy, with a number of us waiting on our app-based purchases. Not unusual. The store was clean, although the furniture is in dire need of an update, as is the overall space. I prefer locations with comfy seating and the only 2 comfy seats here are right next to the door. But the staff weren't their usual happy selves today. Most seemed preoccupied or distracted. I needed a sleeve for my coffee (the only one placed on the pick up rack without one) and I also had a gift card I wanted to load to my account. The man at the register was not very accommodating. Since he was really nice to the man in line before me, I was surprised at his sudden change in demeanor. Maybe I look like someone that annoys him, I don't know, but it was uncomfortable. I'm sorry but does the cost of caramel drizzle come out of the employees hourly wage??? Starbucks was already on their last leg with me because they're so expensive for NO REASON but today I had a long day and wanted a sweet treat so I got a caramel frappe with extra caramel. Obviously that doesn't mean anything because there is barely any caramel. Girl... when I'm paying over SEVEN DOLLARS for a drink with no alcohol in it, I assume my order will be correct. Pretty high quality Starbucks. Drive-thru line is manageable most of the time. My wife and I stop here from time to time on our way to go grocery shopping at Meijer sometimes. No matter the day, this place is pretty busy like most Starbucks are. The mobile orders seem to trip up this location a bit because whether you order it ahead at home or while you're in the parking lot, they sometimes don't have any visibility to it. Not sure if that's a location or an app problem. Nonetheless you get a good quality drink every time from this Starbucks. It's on the pricier side as you probably know, but it's nice to treat yourself from time to time. read more

I visited the Rochester Rd, Troy Starbucks today. Wow, it had a very poor atmosphere. Its usually quite nice, clean and friendly. Not today! Absolutely no food in the display, dirty floor, employees were unfriendly and looked like they'd rather not be there, furniture missing, etc. Batista who rung up our order didn't utter a word to us, looked bothered and she made an error on both orders. Our drinks were about the quality of the atmosphere. Definitely a waste of money. We wont go back to this location. That makes 2 locations on Rochester Rd we won't visit again. In the news Starbucks profit is low. Geee, I wonder why! Many locations aren't doing so great. Went in and ordered two specialty drinks and a cup of Pike's; when they gave us our specialty drinks I asked the barista for our cup of coffee and was told (rather cheekily) that it's the register persons job to give that to me. I asked her if she could get it, since there were now more people in line and we were trying to k socially distance. Didn't appreciate that. Otherwise service was fast; friends were happy w their coffees, mine didn't taste like it had the extra espresso shot I paid for, but such is life. If you've been in any Starbucks recently, you already know what to expect. In that respect there were no surprises here. There was a relatively short delay before I was able to order but this time was not too long. The location was convenient for me because I do shopping in the area and also located near other businesses. I ordered a big size drip Coffee, a Double Chocolate Loaf slice, one of my favorite items. It didn't take long for my order to come out. I usually need to fix my coffee with cream and sugar so I took care of that and finally sat down to eat. This Starbucks was clean and the staff were friendly as they took my order and prepared it for me. I go here often enough for other shopping and have only stopped in here a few times previously. It's usually relatively quiet so I can relax a bit before I get on with my day. I think I'll have to remember to stop here more often. read more

2019-04-26. Starbucks. Troy, MI. So on April 16, 2019, Starbucks rolled out their new rewards program. So let's review their old program first. Old program: Rather simple really, you earn 2 stars for every dollar spent when you pay with your registered Starbucks card, or through the app. Partial dollars are calculated at partial stars in 1/10 increments. You can track your stars online, via the app, or at the store (ask the Barista). Stars are kept track on a monthly basis when earned and are valid for 6 months. Once you have accumulated 125 stars, you can redeem it for any food or beverage item regardless of price. So a cake pop will consume 125 stars as will a salad, sandwich, or customized drink. New Program: you continue to earn stars at the rate of 2/$. Partial stars continue to be calculated in 1/10 increments. The stars continue to be tracked monthly and expire after 6 months if not used. Sounds the same so far, so what changed? Well there are now different redemption amounts for different items. The 125 stars for any food or drink item is no more. For 25 stars, you can get an extra added to your drink (so a pump of vanilla, or a shot of espresso, or maybe some coconut milk in lieu of 2%). Brewed Coffee or Tea is 50 stars (75 star drop in price); a customized drink 150 stars (a 25 star increase in price); sandwiches and salads are 200 stars (75 star increase in price); and for 400 stars (new!), you can get a bag of coffee beans or a merchandise item like a mug or tumbler. With all that said, it probably sounds like the worse reward program ever, regardless of whether old or new program. Some simple straight line math calculates that you need to spend $62,50 to earn a free food or beverage item under the old regime, and $75 dollars under the new. But if you're the person making coffee runs for the morning office crew, they can add up quickly! On top of that, Starbucks offers purchase promotions for bonus stars. So is this individual rewards pricing a bull or bust? Well there are both winners and losers. The winners are the brewed drinkers. At 50 stars a cup, they're clearly the victors; but that is merely one battle, these same brewed drinkers lost the battle of the eats as their gains are completely offset by the losses in salad and sandwich prices. In the end the war is at an impasse. Moving onto the espresso masses. These poor lemmings are the ones condemned to lose at every turn. Their drink is now 20% more expensive and their food is 60% more expensive when cashing in rewards stars. Do their stars have any silver lining like the brewed drinkers, nope. But if you paid attention to the program, there is an unknown with the custom espresso consumers, will your "extras" cost you more stars? Or will it be a flat rate of 150? This was what I intended to find out! I ordered a venti hazelnut latte with two extra shots, 3 pumps instead of 4, and whip on the side. The cost, 150 stars. As a former employee for Starbucks, I have to say that each Starbucks really is unique in it's own way. I attribute that to store layout and of course the employees. This location, really is a cozy place and the staff is very friendly. The drive through can get really busy, and on Sunday Morning's it's very busy as well, and it can be hard to find somewhere to sit. Every time I've been here, it's usually pretty busy, it's a pretty popular location, granted there's another Starbucks about a mile away in the other direction. Service is usually pretty quick, even in the drive through. This is a great place to sit and chat with friends, read or just people watch. read more

This is my favorite Starbucks location! It's so worth passing the Tienken/Rochester & Rochester/Auburn to come here. Staff is incredibly friendly and helpful; they're always so cheerful and happy. Their mobile ordering is always taken care of quickly. I noticed this location usually has someone working just on mobile orders which I think helps a lot. Their drive thru line also moves very quickly. My drink has never been incorrect from this location either which is lovely! I always drive out of my way (daily) to come to this location because of how lovely the staff are; So much more pleasant than the other Starbucks locations in the area. The Starbucks located at South Blvd and Rochester Rd is my go-to location! I primarily use the drive through and it is always efficient, my order comes out correct, and the staff is friendly. I often have the drive through employee Amy. She is always perky, eager to help, and I appreciate her positive attitude! The inside cafe is small, not ideal for sitting down to chat with a friend or taking your laptop to work while having your drink. When I go into the cafe to order is when I wait the longest. My only complaint is that the inside drink pick-up area is crammed. I feel like I'm in the way of the guests seated at the tables. Since you often have to wait a bit longer, the pick up counter gets backed up with people and it just becomes overly crowded. The inside gets quite loud during busy times which is to be expected as the baristas are working their magic behind the counter, but the small space amplifies the sound. Not really an issue, but something to note if you are someone who likes to work, read, etc. in the cafe. On warmer days you can sit outside at their tables which is a nice option. Overall, I prefer this Starbucks to most of the others in my area. It gets the job done and is close by when I get the craving! read more

These baristas do an excellent job of serving up piping HOT lattes that are 90% coffee. I am so sick of most Starbucks skimping you on espresso in exchange for massive amounts of foam. This results in a lukewarm beverage that you can basically slurp down in five minutes. I like to take my time to enjoy my obscenely expensive drink. This location allows me to do that by making it hot enough to slow down and sip it instead of guzzling. Plus? They have a drive-thru and they give you those lilttle stoppers for the cups so the coffee won't spill in the car (and will, again, remain hot!). read more

Since I was already planning on going to Nino's, I thought I'd check out this Starbucks across the street for some pre-grocery shopping studying. It is a small place inside, with mainly small square tables, and a few cushioned armchairs. It got pretty busy at one point. I generally like a busy coffee shop, and find the background noise more conducive to focusing than music. But the noise was mostly obnoxious high school students. The music selection was standard Starbucks, which I like. My tea was good, but it is hard to mess that up. The best part, besides getting work done, was being able to drive across the street to Nino's, which is heavenly. I will probably return before my next trip to Nino's. read more

With 3 Starbucks location along my morning route, I drive past 2 locations since this Starbucks has become my location of choice. The line moves quick and the drive thru is easy to access. My order is always correct. My experience was elevated yesterday by the friendly and cheerful barista. Having such a pleasant interaction at 6:30 am is a great way to start the day. This is definitely the best Starbucks I've ever been to. The baristas are always smiling and always friendly. They work hard and keep those drinks coming out fast.
