Was instructed that the frosting would soften in 45 minutes but my first bite was before that. Frosting was not too sweet at all. I ordered 2 cakes from here recently. The first one was a 6 inch celebration cake - vanilla cake with butter cream frosting. I thought the butter cream frosting might be too sweet or heavy butter tasting but no they have a good ratio giving a light creamy frosting. They have a number of different options to offer on how you want to decorate the top. The second cake I ordered was a 6 inch raspberry torte 3 layers of vanilla cake with raspberry purée and then frosted with their signature butter cream frosting. It was delicious and worth the extra cost to get a flavored torte although the celebration cake was delicious too! Helpful, friendly service. The only thing I would consider is the cost. It is a bit more expensive than other bakeries for cakes. But if you're looking for a special occasion delicious cake I would definitely recommend! read more

My siblings seem to have been bitten by the Bakery Bug(TM) this weekend. My sister had been expressing an interest in Fox & Hounds Pastry Den for the past week. I've been a little under the weather, but managing to get around, so we were off to the races. The place has a warm, quaint vibe that makes me want to have a cup of hot chocolate here next time. I immediately notice and am pulled toward the coconut macaroons. They are like magnets to me. Sister chose a gingerbread man, fudge brownie, and cinnamon roll. We tried the coconut macaroons first. (Not to be confused with macarons.) I hate to admit it, but I'm a coconut macaroon snob. It had a little too much of a cherry liqueur type flavor for my liking. After that we pulled the gingerbread man apart. He was almost too cute to eat. Flavor was ok. The fudge brownie was a bit too dense for me. The last thing we tried was the cinnamon roll. If a croissant and a cinnamon roll got married and had a baby, this would be it. To my surprise, out of everything we tried, it was my favorite. Apparently other reviewers think highly of the cakes, so I plan to return and update my review someday. read more

This place is located in the corner of a small shopping plaza. It's hard to see from outside except for the store sign. Glad I came here. Very tastefully decorated inside. They serve Starbucks coffee. I had pike place with liquid hazelnut flavor I had a White Chocolate Raspberry Scone. Had some moisture and tasted really good. Some scones are very dry but this was just right. Not too sweet. They have a variety of pastries. Would come back again to try the others. read more

This is by far my fave bakery and place to go when I'm craving cake, which is all the time. I'm obsessed w cake and this place has the best cake and buttercream frosting around. I especially love their vanilla cake w sprinkles on vanilla buttercream. I love their cake because it's not too heavy and not too light. It also doesn't have that weird fake organic taste that many of the popular competitors have in the area. Fox n Hound is known for their buttercream and they definitely deserve it-most frosting is too sweet but theirs is perfect. Whenever I'm in the area, I like to stop in and try different pastries, cupcakes and slices of cake. When I'm feeling like spoiling myself, I think I'll order a custom cake just for the heck of It! As a child, I ate at the fox and hound restaurant for celebrations. As a young adult, I made the trip over to the bakery and bought myself a cake every year. There are not enough positive words to say about this place. Ever since my local bakery went out of business, it was very hard finding a place that would level up to that taste of real butter cream. After taste testing 10+ of the so called best bakeries in Michigan, this was the only place that compared. They don't use shortening, only real butter which only 1% of bakeries actually do. Other bakeries will lie and say they don't, but let your taste buds be the deciding factor. Well we've been missing out the last few years. I had a small wedding ceremony this weekend and my mom really wanted to get us a cake. I protested as we didn't want a typical wedding cake, and she passed this along to Monica. She made the perfect cake looks wise and it tasted even better than it looked!!! However, my past experience was that they have the Best Buttercream frosting I've ever gotten from a purchased cake. And based on all the other comments and reviews here, it seems that tradition continues. If you've never purchased a cake from them, give them a whirl. You won't regret it. My mom was so sad when the original Fox and Hounds closed up shop, so imagine my delight when I was searching for a bakery that made a true white cake for her birthday and I found the new Pastry Den on Yelp! I got a 6" celebration cake that was very reasonably priced at $22, and it tasted exactly like we remember. Cake was moist (even after sitting in the fridge for 2 days before serving) and the buttercream is amazing, not too sweet. I'm just sad it took me so long to find this place! During the Covid 19 Pandemic I needed a birthday cake. I spoke with the owner of Fox and Hounds Pastry Den who enthusiastically said they could accommodate. Three days later, they curbside delivered a chocolate bump cake to my car. To say it was delicious is an understatement! The chocolate cake had a deep chocolate flavor which was accompanied by a rich, but not too sweet, French buttercream icing. Truly this cake was a masterpiece. Awesome carrot cake and muffins. Decorated the cake for free on the spot! Best carrot cake in the metro-Detroit area. I went to buy a carrot cake for my girlfriend's birthday as she claims to be somewhat of a connoisseur for carrot cake, and I wanted to get her something from a place she hasn't tried before. I arrived about 30 minutes before they close and they had two fresh cakes available (Forgot to call ahead, so it is a good thing they did). Bought a full cake because the price was very reasonable (they were willing to sell just a half or couple of slices if I wanted) and they personalized it for free while I was there. I also picked up some muffins for half price because it was the end of the day and they were great. They also threw in another muffin for free with my order. Best part - my girlfriend thought it was the best carrot cake she has tried in the metro-Detroit area. I was pleasantly surprised that the interior is very new and nice, and they serve all Starbucks/Tazo coffee and tea. They have a little fire-place that you can sit by and enjoy your pastries. Stopped in this am on a whim to grab a morning coffee. I thought perhaps it was closed, as it wasn't real obvious that it was open. However, I was very pleasantly surprised at the charm this place has. Warm and comfy design, i would love to have stayed and sat by the fireplace. Spoke to the owner as I waited for my coffee to brew ( which is starbucks btw). She was super friendly and carried herself like the ideal small business owner. My husband and I called around 1:00 on a Saturday (they close at 3) to see if they could make us a cake for Father's Day before they closed and they did it without question.
