You can't beat Grand Avenue. While I'm more about supporting small, I'd like to give a shout out to Starbucks especially the barista I had today. He greeted me with a smile, held a relevant/ funny conversation with me and left me feeling good! There's something about a coffee run that brings joy. This location has a front patio to dine on, an interior fireplace, and is in the greatest part of Saint Paul. Perfect for when you are out on a walk. Enjoy!

Go through that archway and to the right and you'll be inside this Starbucks on Grand Avenue, which is in a nice area.

This Starbucks falls into the standard zone, so it gets 3 stars from me. It's in a very cool area of St. Paul in the Twin Cities. Someone explained to me that the Twin Cities don't really compete with each other since they share sports teams and such. It's more a matter of preference as to whether you like Minneapolis over St. Paul, or vice versa. From limited exposure, I like this area along Grand on Summit Hill in St. Paul more so than I like Eat Street(s) in Minneapolis. Inside, with its drab green-gray color that seems trendy these days, this isn't the most inviting Starbucks, though it's a nice combination of modern amenities with some old school fittings, such as the ceiling. This Starbucks is in one of those newfangled condo or apartment blocks with shops at street level. Inside, the store is larger than most. I was trying to go to Caribou on the same street but instead wound up at this Starbucks for a cup of tea. The staff did their job but seemed sort of aloof. There is varied seating inside, including some not so comfortable pub height seating at the perimeter by the windows, as well as limited seating outside. They could use more charging outlets. Take note that, like most other stores, this Starbucks is very clean.

Yum, love this place. Can't wait till I pop in again. I would highly recommend this location and the staff here.

My go-to Starbucks. Service is fast and staff are genuinely nice. There is street parking and additional parking in the back lot. The only flaw, no drive-thru.

Starbucks - it had been ages since I walked through your doors and I missed seeing you're lovely venti figure next to my laptop. Honestly, I cheated on you with Caribou all because you had one, major flaw - no free wi.fi. So, in this case - it wasn't me; it was you. But you know what 'they' say, "let it go and if it's meant to be, it'll come back to you." Well, Starbucks, I waited patiently and you finally came to your senses - FREE WI.FI! You were no longer needy and fluffy and you just.... put out. And with plenty of comfy chairs mixed in with plenty of outlets... you can rest assured that we can spend cozy hours on my laptop doing whatever we do best - yelping, etsy-ing, facebooking. But the whipped cream on the frap? Parking in the back or underground. You are so understanding of how crazy parking can be on Grand Avenue! Oh, Starbucks! Let's hug it out! I've missed you terribly!

    Matt R.

(I love that we are reviewing a Starbucks. Are they really all that different?) So, to break up from all the confusion, pros and cons of this location Pros - Cozy environment, normal hours, and lots of seating Cons - Very little cell service (better use VoIP) and can be drafty Tips - skip the street parking and go for the underground heated garage. Not too many people know, but you can use it along with the Oxford Hill condos.

The young man at the counter offered me an extensive menu of regular coffees, espresso drinks and specialty drinks, all of which could be made hot or cold. They also have a variety of milk selections. Unfortunately, they were out of skim milk today, but he offered to tweak the amount when I told him that the main reason I usually had skim milk was to enhance the coffee flavor(and their coffee really tasted good). Additionally, he offered to make my drink in my personal cup which was great since I hate to use plastic whenever I can. This location is only a half block from United Hospital and all its various buildings and there is no good coffee within that entire complex. It's definitely worth getting a breath of fresh air and taking a block and a half stroll to have a great cup of Joe! By the way, although I tried hard not to look, their pastry case looked scrumptious, filled with homemade pies by the slice and other goodies. Since they are so close to the hospital it's really nice that they also have a lovely display of fresh cut flowers. Next time I'm down here I'm going to stop in for a meal. If the food is as good as the coffee I think I'll become a regular.

The person taking my order seemed frazzled and wasn't very friendly. I had also ordered another baked goods but I guess she didn't hear because upon checking my receipt, it wasn't listed. It wasn't overly busy, but may be she was new? Not sure, but it did leave a bit of a bad taste for this place. The scone was very tasty and I would recommend getting it warmed up. I would give this place a try again, but it's not a place I plan to visit again soon.
