‼New coffee shop in Sparrows Point‼…read more I attended the soft opening this weekend, and was very impressed! The space and seating inside is limited, so it definitely seems more of a to-go than sit-down place. The staff was nothing but kind and worked very hard to keep the line moving as they were SO busy! They were giving away complimentary pastries ("mini" versions of what they'll sell regularly!) and gelato scoops as part of their first day, so I snagged an espresso scone, a slice of Cinnamon Toast Crunch banana bread, and a scoop of pumpkin cheesecake gelato. All three were SO yummy. I especially loved the gelato, which was super creamy, smooth, and pumpkin-y. I got to try a few samples of other flavors, and they were great too. I also got a pumpkin oatmilk latte to go with my pastries. I returned the next morning to see how the experience would be on a more "normal" day. I got a pumpkin oatmilk latte again, but asked for extra syrup as the first one I had wasn't quite as sweet as I would like. The woman working made my drink with one extra pump, and gave me the option to add another if it still wasn't sweet enough. I did end up needing another one, and I really appreciated that I was able to do so. I also got a full-sized espresso scone. These ones had crunchy sugar on top, which was a nice touch. Super excited to continue supporting this new local business. Hoping the community continues to show as much support as they did on the first day so this place can stick around for a while!

What a fantastic find! Thanks to the Yelpers who took time to review this place and put it on my…read moreradar. I've now been to Abat three times. This is the sort of place that makes you feel at home from the moment you arrive. And, for someone who's been several times, I now feel like family. If you're looking for an unhurried coffee served on a silver tray, get their Ethiopian coffee service. If you're looking for a good coffee to go, they've got that, too. If you want breakfast, you're in the right place, and you can try more than the usual diner fare or avocado toast. There are a few Ethiopian dishes for lunch, too, with fantastic injera that is flown in daily from Ethiopia. If you want a special Ethiopian dish that's not on the menu, they may be able to make it with some notice. The coffee house has a small shop with Ethiopian coffee, incense, and trinkets from their homeland. It's a special place run by genuinely kind people who care about sharing their love of their homeland through their food and the way they treat customers. Don't miss it.

Ordered a Cappucino with oat milk given fasting season. They had a few milk options. Coffee was strong/bold and tasty. Ordered some food to go-Fasting chechebsa (made with oil vs butter). Loved Abat's take on this classic Ethiopian breakfast dish. Also got some Sambusa-veggie (lentil) and beef. Both were enjoyed also. Saw some house made cakes/pastries for next time. They also have Kitfo and Tibs as well sandwiches and more breakfast items. Service was friendly and upbeat. They have a small market with spices and merchandise. Solid spot for coffee and breakfast!

The perfect spot for locals to grab a coffee on their way to work or an afternoon lunch spot. Joanna's has a really nice menu with quite a few breakfast and lunch options. As well as a decent drink menu for whatever may suite your fancy at the moment. I settled on a Pistachio and Rose Latte, a Sausage and Cheese breakfast sandwich, and a huge Black Bottom Muffin. The latte was little on the sweet side for me, but the flavor was decent. The breakfast sandwich I got on an asiago bagel, and it was pure deliciousness. The chicken sausage was seasoned nicely, and the asiago bagel was so soft and pillowy. I thoroughly enjoyed this sandwich. And the muffin was quite tasty too. With so many items to try on Joanna's menu and their good customer service, I'll definitely be back to try some other things when I'm in the area.

We followed a lady to what looked like the front door. The door was locked. After a few attempts to open it a lady finally came on the intercom, spoke some gibberish, and let us in. Once inside, this place was dark and creepy. There was a lady sitting and what looked like the check in desk. We saw other people getting helped and walking out with bags of food. When it was our turn, we asked about the beignets. She shook her head and asked if were there for the class. Class? We just wanted to purchase some beignets not take a class..... The wait for the beignets was quite a bit longer, but worth it. It's been some time since I had beignets, and these hit the spot! There were 2 kinds - one with the typical powdered sugar and the other...not sure if it was glazed with honey, or had it drizzled on, or even if it was infused...both were delicious! Since these beignets were gratis with this event, I don't know the pricing on them, but I'm willing to find out, lol! I need more beignets in my life, and these were great. I'm ready to be a regular customer.
