I don't usually pay attention to service when it comes to dining out or purchasing food or drinks but this time the lack of service quality is way too annoying. When I go to Starbucks I'm typically asked my name (if they don't get that information already in some other way like from the reward program) and when they take my order they usually will ask about the size of the drink I'd like. I never gave much thought about the importance of that until today at this particular Starbucks when they didn't ask for that information. I assumed that they might have got my name from my credit card and the drink I ordered maybe only comes with one size - until I kept waiting for my drink for more than 15 minutes without hearing anything about the readiness of it even though I stood next to the pickup counter all the time, and when I finally got my drink (which turned out to be ready a while ago) I saw that there was no name associated with it and the name of the drink was written in a way that's not easily recognizable - that's why I stood next to it thinking it's someone else's order. Furthermore I was expecting a tall size because the last time I had this drink it was a tall one - but it came in grande size, they must just assume that I want a grande one? To be fair this Starbucks has a great location - I enjoyed its surrounding area of Presidio. But they really need to train their staff before putting them to work. read more

I understand being busy as they often are but she always appears put off and snappy. I used to be a waitress and if you are going to work in customer service and with people, you need to have a better personality. Granted it is not in a particularly high traffic area and it is a bit hidden in that you have to know about the location ! Think beautiful water features, lots of trees, greenery... nothing short of feeling like you have been transported to a Zen meditation retreat! I could also describe it as a very, very mini Japanese Tea Garden feel (without the admission fee) if you have ever visited that beautiful place in San Francisco. I am usually here on weekends so the hustle and bustle of the 8 to 5 work routine is nonexistent. I read a lot of the Yelp reviewers make note of the high volume traffic at this Starbucks during work hours... Monday through Friday. And I surmise from that, and their one star reviews, that it can get pretty ugly :-) ..lots of people wanting their coffee with stressed out Baristas. So my solid 5-star review is based on visiting this particular Starbucks during weekends and holidays. If you find yourself wandering around the Marina District near the Palace of Fine Arts and you want a quiet moment and a cup of coffee ... treat yourself with this beautiful park-like setting. Dog friendly and kid friendly ....both the Starbucks and the park :-). A very well dressed group of women (coming from a wedding) dropped about $80 at this location and sat at the long main table in the middle of the store in the middle of the day on Saturday. We were boisterous and chatty and having loads of fun when "Ryan" came over and asked us to quiet down because something something "other customers" something, considerate, thank you. I looked around and outside of the other customers who were talking to us and singing along to a song, no one else seemed particularly interested in us. Apparently "Ryan" was tho. This Starbucks is by far the dirtiest I've ever been in. I live in the Presidio and now that Transit cafe is closed this is the only other easy option for coffee. Unfortunately besides being filthy the baristas make terrible coffee as well. This is the 3rd Sunday in a row that I've visited (hoping I'd just hit a random fluke) and it's been the same each week. A few items I hope the manager of this location sees and corrects 1- with the recent events around Corona Virus, it's absolutely ridiculous that you serve drinks with no lids (leaving them on the counter unattended) 2- You aren't allowed by Starbucks policy to serve hot drinks without sleeves 3- Your bathrooms were disgusting. Understanding they are bathrooms, the smell was horrendous. You had stagnate water caused by a sink being clogged and literally a falling apart cabinet. This has to rate as one of the best Starbucks anywhere. An open secret among locals, you might never think to look for one in this spot, a converted military complex amid the sprawling Presidio, now housing Lucas digital media wizardry among other things. There's no big green Starbucks sign, just a couple normal signs with arrows directing you to building A, B, C, D -- or Starbucks. Tell the parking attendant at the gate that's why you're here. Look for the Yoda fountain to the left of the entrance. The Force Awakens here -- with the help of a double or quad espresso. Take your selfie before heading to the rear of the building where coffee awaits. Grab a rare outdoor table if it's a rare warm sunny day. Take a stroll on the beautiful grounds and enjoy views of the domed Palace of Fine Arts and beyond. Pro tip: It's not a bad walk (less than a mile, easy downhill) down the path to the beach at Crissy Field. Also, it's a Starbucks, with all that entails. With parking. In San Francisco. Despite rumors to the contrary, it has free wifi ("Google Starbucks"). I make a habit of going to this one every time I find myself in that part of town. Probably the best Starbucks I've ever been to (and I used to live two blocks from Pike Place in Seattle, the first Starbucks store). The location is perfect if you have a dog and it's far enough off the beaten track that you have plenty of outdoor options when it comes to enjoying your tasty beverage. The one downside here is that their opening hours are kind of bizarre. There are plenty of people that would go here late in the evening but they seem obsessed with closing early. Unless you've lived on the moon for the past 10 years there's nothing more I can say about this Starbucks except that this is a good location. read more
