Stopped here a few times over the years traveling on I-20, and it's just a poorly run Starbucks. The service is generally slow and the staff are often not friendly - today, I waited 15 minutes for a simple drip coffee because they forgot about it. It was very busy, otherwise, I'd have asked about it much sooner (and I did have to ask for it). The drinks are pretty standard for Starbucks, but it has poor customer service and long waits. My family and I had been on the road for 7 hours with 3 to go and I needed a pick me up so we stopped in at this Starbucks because it was close to the interstate. The line was wrapped around the building and partially into the street. Waiting to get to the speaker was the longest I've waited at any drive through ever. When we got our order, everything was correct and they tasted great. I don't understand how every Starbucks should be using the same drink recipe, but the beverage at this location tasted better than any location I've been to. The barista was very friendly and sweet, she smiled the entire time we were at the window and made sure we had everything we needed. I have to rave about my favorite Starbucks in Ruston LA. I have been going there for years and I have to say that the new manager, Chris has really improved drive thru time and in store service 100%. I've watched the employees and they really enjoy their jobs and take pride in their store. The majority of the staff know me by name of course and what my favorite drink is. Chris kept telling me about their rewards program and that as many times that I purchase my coffee I should really sign up. I was having problems getting the online service to let me enroll. I told Chris that I had emailed Starbucks. He told me if I still hadn't been able to join he would help me himself. Wow! As busy as he is, Chris always has time for his customers and his staff. Been coming here for 10 years. The store no matter how short the line is takes forever. Which has just gotten worse and worse. You get there and they're out of half the things you can order. THEN the way the driveway is built you can't just leave the line. You have to go through the rest of the line to be able to leave. I just sat in a line of 5 cars for 37 minutes. Half of which left and allowed me to get to the order window. I have wasted so much of my life at this location. I keep thinking "nooo they are just having a bad day! " "maybe this time will be better!" "They're trying their hardest!" "It's not their fault". It's been consistently going downhill for so long that someone is mismanaging the place without a doubt. Another day another SB. This location came in handy for that morning joe while on our road trip to León Mexico. This location was super busy the time I visited. It pains me to write a 3 star review for a SB. There was a line that you rarely see at these stores as the staff are usually fast and efficient. This day I ordered my usual along with a chocolate croissant . The croissant came out fast and hot, but can't say the same about the coffee. As I stood waiting and waiting many of the people that ordered after had already left. I started to say something but then finally they called my name by this time there were no one waiting and not in line. Attention those who are seeking caffeine from Starbucks along I-20 in Louisiana, and you haven't seen anything for miles between Shreveport and Monroe, all is not lost. We stopped and ordered our usual iced lattes and frappuccino. They were fine. The staff was friendly and fast. Whatever issues previous yelpers have had here seem to have been corrected, at least on a somewhat busy late Friday afternoon. They got 4 stars verses 5 stars because of a few things. The men's room was a little messy and had a broken toilet seat hinge. Instead of paper towel dispensers, the bathrooms had the dreaded super air-blower hand dryers, my wife and daughter reported the lock on the ladies room door may have been broken. Lastly, the condiments bar did not have nutmeg. With a little attention to these items, this store could reach for 5 star status! Ample parking here. I fully understand that there are measures in place to prevent the spread of this virus in businesses, but some businesses should understand that these measures also hinder communication between the patron and the employees. Starbucks is clearly the first place most caffeine-depleted people go to for coffee. Before Covid-19, Starbucks had great ambiance and played indie music which gave it that edgy flair. But now with face masks and plastic panes distorting our voices it's extremely difficult to understand what is being said. The music played over the speaker system here was so loud that it drowned out the already difficult situation of listening to the girl behind the plastic barriers. I'm not exactly young anymore and my ability to hear clearly even without the muffled voices of anyone is strained. Eye contact is important and the use of "sign language" might help these days. I had to squat down to the opening in the plastic wall to make even a cheap attempt to hear the girl asking me questions. But then she spoke so softly I was at wits end deciphering her words. My wife wanted a particular item in the food window so I requested that. Again, she couldn't hear me so I repeated the request. She still didn't hear me so I asked my wife to literally point to the item. That should have solved everything. We waited for our drinks then. We received two different sizes and the wrong item from the window. By this time we were behind schedule being somewhere and I didn't want or have the patience to wait for another order placed. The item from the window was totally different from the one my wife pointed at and was dry and stale. The coffee was mediocre at best. With people struggling to communicate clearly during these difficult days, I hope that businesses could make changes to ease the challenges of transaction. Lower the volume of the music. Point back at the item requested to make sure it's the one the customer wants. Indicate the size of the drink through the use of sign or picture. I know all this may seem ridiculous but it's a thing. The barista had me at the window and all he had to do was hand me the drink. I waited 6 minutes just for him to take more orders and do food before he just handed me the drink that had been sitting on the counter.
