Nice little shop tucked away but right off interstate!

Upon awaking in the early morning and begin the next road trip day to the beach. My A,B,C's are Awake-Brush Teeth- COFFEE! Now hotel coffee can be OK at times, but my Yelp search in the little town of Ruston, LA yeilded PJ's New Orleans Brew as the nearby shop. In this venue their shop is tucked in behind a building that fronts Farmersville Road just off I20 in a little shop with drive through. The inside is very nice and accommodating. Chairs, Sofa and some of their For Sale bling adorns the walls. My eye caught a lone table and chair set up to honor our veterans. I liked that a lot. Many of my folks have served this great country and like it or not, it says something about the ownership and local associates. Bravo The Coffee. My wife and I ordered our normal mixtures and were delighted with each. The coffee held a nice centerstage to our palates. I picked up an egg thingy and we hit the road. I enjoyed the cup almost to Monroe, LA even cooling it tasted great! I liked the shop and the friendly service so much we made a second visit on the way back home. I'm delighted to know they have a few shops in Big D. None near my zip code-yet. So it's online ordering for now. You should look them up and give your local shop a try. I was ignorant of their existence until fate and Yelp tuned me in!

We were in town for one of my husbands local performances and stopped by PJ's for breakfast which has such a cute and quaint indoor seating area with very friendly and accommodating staff. Also a great environment to get work done.

Owners Paul (the talented chef) and Kate bring such a personal touch to everything--they clearly care deeply about their customers and stopped by our table to chat, ensuring everything was perfect. Their genuine hospitality made the visit extra special. The food itself is outstanding. Everything is truly farm-to-table, with the restaurant sourcing all of its fresh ingredients directly from local farmers. You can taste the difference in every bite--the vibrant flavors, incredible freshness, and quality that only comes from supporting nearby producers. I especially loved their great specialty coffees, which paired beautifully with the seasonal dishes and breakfast/lunch offerings. The plates were exceptional, highlighting the best of what our region has to offer. We'll definitely be back soon (it's breakfast and lunch only, so plan your visit accordingly!) and will be recommending Lula Perl to all our friends and family. If you're looking for great service, exceptional locally sourced meals, and that wonderful personal care from Paul and Kate, this is the place! Highly recommend.

Hope we are able to stop by this gem again sometime. A+

Let's be honest…read more Ruston isn't exactly the first place that comes to mind when you think of craft coffee, fresh pastries, thoughtful small plates, and palate-forward cocktails. Then there's Common Goods. On a recent trip from New Orleans to North Louisiana, my friend Jacob rounded up a mix of locals and out-of-towners and said, "Trust me." He was right. Where do I even start? I use this word sparingly, but this place is a vibe. I walked in not knowing what to expect and immediately noticed the velvet yellow sectional, the clean design, and a room that was the perfect blend of curated and comfortable. Nothing was working too hard, yet everything felt intentional. Then came the cocktail menu. Whoever put it together understands balance. Sweet. Sour. Spice. Earth. The presentation was superb. I ordered the New Fashioned. Then another. Then...well...let's just say I quit counting after three. The Earl Grey infusion works, it somehow it makes a great Old Fashioned feel lighter, brighter, and completely new. The personal chocolate cake with salted caramel disappeared almost as fast as it hit the table. It was the unanimous favorite. My friends Paul and Racheal loved it so much they got their own, in chocolate and raspberry. The bread service deserves a mention. Fresh bread with balsamic and infused olive oil sounds simple. But there was complexity and finish in both. The bread had crisp edges and a soft middle. By the end of the night I was spellbound by their magic. Common Goods isn't just a great spot for Ruston. It's a place that could hold its own in New Orleans, Nashville, or Austin without anyone batting an eye. This place is a gem. And I'm officially obsessed. If you live in Ruston, this should be a weekly spot.

It's a family-friendly atmosphere, almost like a throwback to years gone by, where everybody knows each other & make strangers (like myself) feel at home. They were extremely busy, and you could tell, but it never phased the staff. I was very impressed with how they maintained their positive demeanor, gave amazing service (appreciative for you coming there), and always made sure I didn't run out of my Coke Zero. If you are lucky enough to have a sweet young lady named Isabella to wait on you, consider yourself lucky. She is an absolute sweetheart! Now, as for the food...WOW!!! I had the Cabin Trio because I've started a carnivore diet, it was (3) grilled shrimps, chicken breast, & a small ribeye...covered in sautéed squash, zucchini, and broccoli...no additional sides for me. Shrimp perfectly cooked, chicken was juicy, the steak (medium) could be cut with a fork, and I may or may not have had some sautéed veggies (perfectly seasoned). Beyond a great dining experience & I greatly appreciated the Coke Zero to go, Isabella!

I found the casual, spirited ambiance to be thoroughly delightful. The level of service and the sheer attention to detail in their preparation were absolutely amazing. The entire experience was an absolute triumph honest, flavorful, and delivered with top-tier Southern hospitality.
