This store has gone down tremendously. Visited this afternoon with a friend in hopes of catching up over a coffee. The music was blaring inside the restaurant. We asked politely they turn it down. The clerk said "it's on number 48 and we can't go any lower than that." I regret I didn't ask before ordering as I wouldn't have spent a dime. The staff were also slamming service ware around and yelling at each other as the music was too loud for normal conversations. Rude staff and a dirty restaurant. Won't be back. read more

Everyone has an opinion this is mine! This visit I went through the drive-thru... I don't order ahead like I normally do which stops a lot of confusion. I had a drink I really wanted to try but they hadn't heard of it. Vanilla créme (I will get it another time) I say for get it! We are doing the BOGO order me anything the hot version of my people's drink in a Grande (no biggie right!?) and be done. When I noticed it was wrong I went around the drive-thru again to get it fixed bc I noticed I was charged full price and received small drinks. They remade the order. Let me say this I have no idea what they gave me but it was NOT the hot version of the frape drink! I could go deeper into this situation but it's not going to change my experience. Y'all, this was the BEST Starbucks I have ever been to and I have been to a lot of Starbucks. The parking is good. There aren't a lot of businesses that surround the Starbucks so they essentially have the parking lot to themselves. Upon my arrival I couldn't help but notice the clean store and the beautiful Art that's was displayed on the walls. The baristas and cashiers probably knew everyone by name that walked in there; some people even trusted the cashiers to pick a drink for them (to me that shows loyalty). The lady that checked me out was so pleasant + nice. She gave me a compliment. While I waited for my drink I took in all of the nice art and the organization of the store. The workers just weren't there to work they genuinely wanted to be there. So happy I stopped in. read more

By far this Starbucks is a favorite as I'm also a regular! When you go places and they greet you by name because you frequent so much is a good feeling, yet a concerning one because it says I go a lot lol! In the recent situation with Starbucks, I find great pride and joy to know that there are times I've went in and didn't purchase and they treated me perfectly fine... I stopped in for a drink before my bike ride. The service was quick and received great customer service. My pumpkin spice latte was delicious. The shop is quiet, especially for a Saturday morning. it would be a nice place to sip on a drink and work. It seems like more people were using the drive through. This Starbucks served me immediately and with quality! It was late afternoon -early evening and a nice young lady Nique was attentive, I saw Chloe who was upbeat and young man Evan who was focused working the drive through. Nique let me into their locked bathroom and then was helpful ringing me up for my coffee. Chloe and Evan are great baristas and enhanced the overall experience. When you live off New Bern Avenue there isn't an overflowing option of food/drink options in the area. This Starbucks is a great spot to grab a quick coffee or breakfast sandwich conveniently located directly on your way to 440. I've been a handful of times now and have not had the same problem as other reviewers where they are overly slow. They aren't say McDonalds fast, but you are out of the drive-thru quick enough. The employees are quite friendly and each time my order has been correct. For me as long as they get my order right and have somewhat of a smile on, I am good with it! read more

We visited our former stomping ground today and went to our old Starbucks. Things have definitely changed for the worst. Management is clearly the problem after our experience and reading other reviews. Both our drinks tasted off. Mine lacked any coffee flavor...way too sweet and like I mentioned something was off in the flavor. My husband had a cold brew and said afterwards that it didn't taste right. He is not very picky so drank it but I couldn't bear to drink more than two sips of mine. The place is not kept up and the cleanliness is an issue as the restrooms were nasty. Makes you wonder what it is like behind the counter. I agree with other reviews about customer service not being a priority. I hate leaving negative reviews and I love Starbucks. Typically Starbucks leads all in customer service and quality. This store leaves lots to be desired. I never use the drive thru because I typically enjoy going into the cafe. This store had cleanliness opportunities no one smiles and unless you are well known to the staff; they go out of their way to ignore you. This has been my experience over a dozen or so visits over the past month. I want to love this store because it is convenient. I find myself driving miles out of the way to visit the location at Capital. I tip, I smile and I don't mind a wait if the store is busy so I don't get it. The service industry is brutal and I completely understand a bad day. New Bern has been having a bad day for at least a month. I actually mobile ordered in their cafe last week after standing at the register for several minuets, unable to get the attention of a barista. I really really love this Starbucks. Not only is it close enough to the house, and the young baristas are always nice and helpful. I never have any problem with my orders. There are two things about this place that just make it awkward. it's in the back of a shopping center, with a small parking area; that parking area had to be shared with a drive-thru lane, so the traffic can be very compact and awkward sometimes. But, I love this Starbucks, because it opens way late than it's good for my health. When I needed a little pick me up at 9:45 PM I still have time to hope on the bike and ride over for a double shot latte before it closes (10:30 PM on the weekend.) read more

I like this Starbucks. Every time I've come here is clean and there's somewhere to sit. It is corporate Starbucks proper with $5 lattes but if that's your jam I say have at it. There's a nice outdoor patio that's buffered from the road, complete with umbrellas. Merry a friend outside for a coffee. It is really pleasant. The seating inside is a little worn but there are nice big tables for group work and wall area for individual work. The employees are friendly and chatty. I'm not sure of their names but the red headed guy is super friendly and really makes you feel welcome. I've never had to wait for a seat at this location. I think most people use the drive thru. Speaking of the drive thru I've stopped by on the rate occasion that I'm running ahead of schedule and it's super fast. Unfortunately, the wait tends to be extra long at the drive-thru which kind of negates any convenience of not getting out of your car. Some employees are friendly, some are not. I'm a huge fan of any starbucks. The drinks here are good. The baristas aren't as chipper as the ones at my favorite starbucks (On 55 in Durham) but they make good drinks. The space is extremely small. But I believe most Starbucks are small and the one in Durham is particularly unique because of how large it is. , i say you can never go wrong with Starbucks' coffee! read more

friendliest staff ever!! I ordered at the drive-thru and I had lost my Starbucks gift card that I received for my birthday, but I still had the receipt with the remaining balance of $4.23 on it. When I got to the window, I asked him if they would take the receipt and he said "don't worry about it!" and gave me my strawberry refresher for free. I told him I could pay the remaining balance (my drink was over $4.23) and he said "no, it's okay" I wish I knew his name, but I thought it was very nice of him to do that for me. read more

I just want to update my original posting that the issues continue of being completely hit or miss here. A few days ago, I ordered a Chai Tea Latte. They were out of Chai so I ordered something else but was really bummed. When I got to the window she let me know they comped my drink since they were out of my Chai, totally made my day! 5 stars, great service! I will say MOST days is great service. Today, simple drive thru order, Iced Coffee with vanilla and cream. Repeats it back to me, yep that is right. Get my drink, take a sip as I'm driving down the road a few miles away, no vanilla. Ughhhh! It didn't have vanilla written on the cup so technically the person making it didn't know, just the fault of the person who took the order and repeated it back to me. 1 Star. I love this Starbucks! In fact... I hate going to any other one because they're not this one. My baristas all know me by name, know my favorite drinks, and make them well. I have run into the owner a few times, and talked to him about my experiences twice. I had a complaint that my favorite flavor was suddenly unbearable and he researched it to find answers. Although he got back to me by phone within a couple of days, and could not find a change in the syrup's ingredients, or origins, he had already given me his card, and 2 vouchers for free drinks and he apologized profusely for not being able to explain the flavor changes, and asked that I always call him with any other concerns. read more
