Everyone seems to be a coffee addict, including all but one of my fave travel buddies. Or maybe all but two now that I think about it. Here in Pitt, there are a lot of crappy Starbucks and a few artisan hipster coffee places with, well, bad coffee. But this place is right among the best of the bunch, to be honest. I chose a filled donut with chocolate icing and hubby got a jelly filled donut. Both are very good. Love the friendly, quick service from the employees. They never rush you and are so kind. There is a main level dining area and an upper area (3-4 steps or a lift) with plenty of small tables and chairs, upholstered chairs with tables, and an enclosed room for serious studying. WiFi. Restrooms. They have what you need to relax, meet friends, or study.

While it is not necessarily a local coffee shop, it is the only one in the area and it is drive thru only. When we arrived shortly before noon the place was packed. I am talking about roughly 20 cars between the two lanes with four people outside taking orders. Inside looked just as busy with the workers moving nonstop. For my coffee this morning I went with a large crème brûlée latte while my wife went with a medium iced Brunette. All told it took about 10 minutes before we had our coffees and were on our way. My coffee ended up being iced instead of the hot one I ordered but that was fine. It was gigantic though. The flavor ended up being really nice as you could clearly taste the coffee, which does not always happen with iced drinks. The crème brûlée flavor was present throughout but never overpowering. My wife also enjoyed her coffee and thought it had a really nice flavor. The bottom line for me is that I would stop by here again in the future. They must be doing something right with the lines they have and the coffee itself is good too.

It is the perfect spot to hang out, listen to music, and enjoy your drink on a chilly winter day. I ordered the special for the day which was a Shortbread Cinnamon Cheesecake Cherry Latte. It was packed full of so many flavors but they all paired perfectly together. I never know what to order at coffee shops, but I am glad I ordered this. While I…read morethink Espresso a Mano has the better espresso drinks,* Constellation has fantastic pour over: You won't find a better selection of high-end coffee beans anywhere else in Pittsburgh, and no other cafe in the city comes close. The bean offerings are always excellent, varied, and carefully curated. Selecting among them may feel intimidating, but the baristas are very knowledgeable and helpful. If you don't have much or any experience with pour over coffee, you should make sure to ask them for suggestions, and they will guide you towards a good selection. If you are coffee snob with a rotating selection of extra-light beans on your kitchen counter... well you should still chat with the baristas and they can tell you all about what they offer, what tasting notes to expect, what they are excited about, and so on. I am in the latter category, and I always enjoy chatting with the baristas here and learning about their coffee. I also appreciate that, in the summer, you can choose to have a Japanese-style iced pour over (the one that's brewed hot directly onto ice). You don't find that often in cafes, and certainly nowhere else in Pittsburgh. Besides coffee, the ambiance is great. There is not much traffic, so it's a pretty calm place to sit down and work or read a book. I love sitting at the large table in the back room for a few hours and working from there, while enjoying a cup or two of different pour overs. Overall, we are lucky to have Constellation . While Pittsburgh can't compare with the "third-wave" coffee scene in cities like Seattle or Vancouver, Constellation can certainly compete with the best cafes in such cities. *The espresso here is also great, don't get me wrong, especially when they offer a light roast.
