Holiday drinks! | IG @moniquedao
Monique D.

I really don't understand the difficulty of understanding that when I ask for caramel crunch topping, I want the crunch and not the caramel sauce. There is a big difference. But more than half the time, at any Starbucks location, they tend to give me the sauce and not the crunch. It really is a head scratcher. One time I caught one of them pouring the sauce into the cup. I asked if they were making it for me, they said yes. I told them I didn't want the sauce. They ended up throwing that cup away (which is a big waste by the way) to remake a new one. If only they listened correctly the first time, they would've done it the right way without wasting a plastic cup.

Clean, friendly service and food/drinks were made to satisfaction. Don't know what more you want from a location.

Trenta sized coffees. Redeemed my free bday drink. 1/1/2025

This review has been sitting in my drafts for a while. Lol.. I redeemed my free birthday drink at this location as my hubby and I were in the area on New Year's Day. On a holiday late afternoon, we were greeted and welcomed in. I ordered a decaf almond milk latte in the largest size. The barista that took my order was super kind and efficient. Hubby got a somewhat similar drink but, cold with oak milk base. Good lattes! I know Starbucks are almost everywhere and can be hit or miss. Definitely a hit at this location. 4 stars.

Iced Caff Americano

This is my go-to Starbucks every weekend Saturday and Sunday mornings, I take a peaceful drive just to come here. There's never a line, the staff is always friendly, and they get my order right every time. My usual? Iced Americano with extra ice. Simple, perfect, consistent. Now let me be clear I do not go to the one on Ball and State College. That place is pure chaos. Everyone going to Disneyland stops there, and it feels like trying to get coffee in the middle of an airport. You place a mobile order and you're lucky if you get it by next week. The drive-thru's always packed, and somehow it takes 50 minutes just to make a coffee. So yeah Katella is the move. Calm, clean, quick, and full of good people. Ball & State College? Hard pass.

This Starbucks is really bad now they are mean horrible customer service the Manger Marissa has made up her own rule to charge extra to fill up your drink with milk when you get light ice it is not a company rule I will not be going here anymore I recommend going to another location where they value the customers .

venti cups filled half way which is unfortunate because we pay $8 per drink, worker said we should've asked for more ice or milk? . definitely won't be returning to this location

Location

Bad experience with the girl who helped she made me pay first before letting my husband use the restroom. Very rude and races! You shouldn't have people like her! treating customers like shit. One of the girls said her name is Don!

Good and fast service. However, I got a venti black coffee. I don't know why, but the two hour old pot of coffee at work tasted better.

There is always a long line in the drive-thru, but it moves fairly quickly. The product is typical Starbucks.

On a weekend this is a laid-back, quiet place to do some work or drink some coffee. Escapes the ultra-busy-ness of some locations.

After seeing tons of people constantly throughout the day chilling at this spot, I came to try it…read moreout with my fiance. We wanted to know if it was worth the hype or not. The drive thru and parking lot situation is quite horrible though especially during peak times. The entrance into the parking lot which is located in the back, shares a lane to go in and out while the other lane is taken up by the drive thru. This makes it very dangerous or difficult to maneuver if there are cars coming in and out both ways. One of the cars will need to back up in order for another to enter/leave. The inside of the cafe isn't too shabby though, there's plenty of desks with access to outlets for studying. I've been here twice so far, and both times the drinks we got were just alright, nothing too crazy. The first time I got the banana matcha, which I liked since the banana flavor was mixed into the matcha instead of being a cold foam. The second time I got their signature drink in the matcha section, which is the horchata matcha. I tasted 100% horchata and no matcha. I thought it was decent, but nothing to rave about especially given the fact that the horchata flavor just took over. All the drinks were pretty sweet as expected, so it's best to adjust to at least 50% sweetness to be safe.

This place was busy so as expected, it was a bit noisy, fast service though. Did not wait long for my drinks. Horchata Frappe is a must! Paired with the churro muffin, must be warmed up. Will definitely not regret it. I definitely recommend this place. Omg! I just moved to the North OC area, and I'm happy to say I've found one of my new go-to coffee…read moreshop study spots in the area! :) I'm currently studying for a big exam, and it's been surprisingly challenging finding coffee shops to study at with the beautiful, modern, aesthetic ambience that makes me happy, without feeling anxious there won't be enough seats or space when I get there, esp since I have to drive a decent amount to get to cafes. I've been getting a little stir crazy at home and finally making the trek here was so worth it-- I felt more motivated than ever to get work done with a tasty treat. I'm not sure if it's because CSUF just started this week, or because I came on a Friday morning, but it was really spacious and open with tons of outlets (almost at each table). Not sure how other days are, but I'd love to bring my study group friends here in the future, since it's so hard to find places with enough space for study groups! Not to mention the clean bathroom haha and good wifi haha The staff here is also incredibly sweet and friendly, making it a comfortable and good experience. Because it was my first time, I asked the barista about her recommendation, and she also asked my general preferences to cater to my taste, and I ended up with a seasonal Birthday Cake Americano at half sweetness (since I don't have much of a sweet tooth). It was perfect for me! I don't usually get Americanos and have a sensitive stomach rn, but it was delicious and kind on my stomach lol. I also got a ham and cheese croissant, and maybe it could've been heated up a little more, but I did wait a bit to eat it, so it was no big deal. The other barista was also so sweet in answering my many questions haha The only struggle as others have mentioned is the parking - I ended up parking at the retail parking nearby, which had plenty of spots but can get pretty pricey, and it sounds like you can park in the areas others have mentioned still (like The Hub I guess has "New Here" parking spots or the employee parking spots?), so I'll need to look more next time. But there's quite a bit around the area within walking distance, you can easily make a day out of it too. Also since it is at the first floor of an apartment in a college town, there will be students going in and out, so just be prepared for that haha -- reminded me of dorm days, and I'm glad students have a spot like this :) Overall, the yummy coffee, amazing vibe and beautiful ambiance, especially as a study spot, alongside the kind and comfortable service has been just what I've been looking for in a coffee shop around here, and I'm excited to return! Thank you New Here!

Vanilla Thesis is the best better than probably all the rest…read moreThe coffee is so tasty Not nasty or pasty Their cheese and ham croissant is also bomb better than being made by mom One thing to note about this place, the parking sucks. But fear not, you can go into the structure, park in one of the "employee only" spots, and just tell them which spot and you're golden (wish I knew that before I came and parked across the street). Also, another reason why this place is great is that it's not full at all. Might be because of the parking situation, but the place is near empty which makes it have a nice luxury vibe. Their Vanilla Thesis drink at 50% sweet is soooo good. It's a great blend of coffee and tastes great. You can totally taste the vanilla. Their ham and cheese croissant is also great.

I wish I lived closer! Second trip, and now this is one of my fav OC coffee/tea spots…read more Brought my friend for her B-day on a Sat mid-morning in Sept. The line goes to the door much of the time, but they keep it moving, keep it kind, and the one barista keeps the drinks coming out so quickly that you barely have time to find a seat! It was pretty full again with half studier/workers and half friend pairs/ groups. We happened to come on the day they had a collab for jeans recycling with Madewell: donate a pair of jeans and get a free 12-oz drink from the "taplist" (regular menu list) plus a coupon for 15% off a pair of jeans! What a great and generous promo for a cause. Inside vinyl shops look fun. I am sad that the stationery shop is gone, but still looking forward to bringing my fam to check our the vinyl and fun drinks. The drinks: We came here just for the Fall Banoffee Latte because we crave/miss this British flavor. It was pretty good and a good sweetness, but I think toffee topping or a little more toffee flavor would've elevated it. I actually liked the free pour of Strawberry Swing even better! Green tea with strawberry flavor and a floral touch without bitterness. Had a taste of my friend's Princess Daisy green tea with mango/passion fruit, and it had a bit of bitter/tea flavor, but it grew on my friend's palate with every sip. The food: Only tried the cinamon sugar donut, which was tasty, solid regualr yeast donut topped with ?buttercream frosting and 8 or so cinnamon toast crunch pieces. The add-it-yourself maple drizzle dropper was a fun touch, though might've liked it a tad more viscous if possible (turned out looking like it rained maple syrup on the donut, heh). Plenty of parking on Orange St public parking lot or along that street. Now they charge at the lot, about $1.45 per hour (oh well, better than LA parking). Looking forward to returning! Maybe for the bananas foster matcha (heard good things from friend of a foodie friend :)).
