Looking to treat myself a little on a cold, gray Wednesday afternoon, I decided to finally stop…read moreinto Denim Coffee in Carlisle. I've walked and driven past it many times but had somehow never made it inside. Since Denim was also participating in the 2026 Cumberland Valley Coffee & Chocolate Trail, it felt like the perfect excuse to check it out and grab a quick late-afternoon pick-me-up. I walked in around 4pm and found a handful of people inside -- some chatting quietly, others working on laptops. The space was clean, calm, and welcoming, with soft music playing overhead. The woman at the counter was an absolute sunbeam on an otherwise dreary afternoon, greeting me warmly and happily taking my order. I went with an iced coffee with sugar-free vanilla syrup (extra sweet, please!) and oat milk. Total came to $5.25. While she prepared my drink, I took a moment to look around and realized what a great view Denim offers from their bar seating area. Full glass windows with stools looking out over the square in Carlisle make it a fantastic people-watching spot. That afternoon, the Farmers Market was set up across the square, and it was fun watching people dash between stands while dodging raindrops to grab their weekly goodies. It struck me as a perfect place to meet a friend, spend a few hours working on a laptop, or just decompress with a coffee and watch the world go by. Denim also had a small sweet treat case with snacks that would pair nicely with coffee. I stuck with just the drink this time, but everything looked tempting enough that I'd definitely consider adding a pastry next visit. A few minutes later my name was called and my drink was waiting at the end of the counter. One interesting touch: they placed the container of oat milk beside my coffee so I could add exactly as much as I wanted. It's a small detail, but not something you see at many coffee shops, and I appreciated the flexibility. The iced coffee itself was excellent. Unlike some places where iced coffee tastes like watered-down brown liquid, Denim's actually tasted like coffee -- strong, smooth, and delivering a solid caffeine boost. Overall: great service, really good coffee, reasonable prices, and a cozy spot right in the heart of town. The only real challenge is parking since it's so close to the square. Street parking is available nearby, but depending on the time of day you may need to circle a bit. All in all, a great little coffee stop and I'm glad I finally walked through the door.

Denim Coffee in Chambersburg had been on my list to visit ever since it opened. I am just never in…read morethat area. I finally made it there recently when I met up with a friend. When I first entered this version of Denim Coffee, I was struck by how long it was and the lack of windows compared to the Carlisle and Harrisburg locations. As far as the product goes, same great coffee you get from their other locations. I ordered an iced latte with oat milk. I liked the latte, it was very smooth and the flavor of the coffee was really good. Denim offers other drinks like smoothies and kombucha but I always go for the coffee and cannot vouch for those. They also have a limited menu and some baked goods. Not a lot of vegan food options, if any, so I've never eaten anything from any of the Denim locations. Price wise, you're paying less for these excellent, locally roasted coffee drinks than you would at corporate coffee shops or the local shops you'd find in larger cities. Any time I'm in the vicinity of a Denim and looking for coffee, I make it a point to stop in.

It is thick and syrupy.. exactly how's it's described by the owner..not really the consistency I look for in my espresso. You can taste all the flavor notes..but it's BITTER. The barista was rude..when I asked for almond milk like it was stupid of me to ask..I didn't know my question was offensive? The shop on the inside looks like idk.. scary. The ceiling tiles are janky..the floors are stained and old..the seating area as you can tell from the pictures is nothing to be desired..at all. I couldn't tell you if they have a bathroom or not..I wasn't walking back that area to find out either. It's very inconsistent.., to how the espresso is prepared ( one place has a mod bar..this one actually had an espresso machine), to how they make the shop look. Oh and my favorite...no community support. No local artists, no business cards, no outside advertisement allowed in Denims shops. I often take an extra cup along out to share with a friend. This place is clean and perfect for someone wanting a quiet place to work or meet with a friend. The macarons are over-priced, but that's how macarons always are. I love that they often have gluten-free options, the flourless chocolate torte is astonishing with a hot latte.

The building the shop is in, experienced a major renovation. The building sat empty for many years and was completely renovated. The interior is beautifully decorated and inviting. There are tables and chairs, and counters to sit and eat at and sofas for lounging. Customers can sit and browse the internet on their laptops and cellphones while enjoying a sandwich and coffee . The dining area and bathrooms are spotless. I tried a bagel and found it dense, not airy of light. The coffee is good. Most of their baked products are made in house. They offer bagels, pastries, cakes, breakfast and lunch sandwiches and more. Prices are slightly higher than other similar shops. However, the stores ambiance makes it worth the extra expense. The staff members are pleasant and friendly and service is quick. There is paid metered street parking available. A quarter will buy you an hour of time. This shop is very popular with the locals and especially with the high school students from the prestigious Mercersburg Academy. If your looking for a relaxing place to enjoy a cup of coffee, food and a place to meet with friends and family, this is the place. I recommend visiting this shop for a slightly elevated experience.
