    Starbucks - inside

We wanted a coffee pick me up while also sitting down to rest our feet after spending the day sightseeing. We had walked the length of Alvarado Street to Fisherman's Wharf and had been on our return trip back. This is a large store with plenty of seating indoors, that does not feel cramped at all. The tables are situated with good distance in between. There's also a lot of seating on their outdoor patio that faces the street. An added bonus is that there are several Pokemon Go pokestops within range, which is handy if you're also playing this game while sightseeing around town. This was definitely convenient during our visit because I was also working on the "catch 200 pokemon in one day" task, which is required for going to level 41. And I managed to finish it during this visit. I noticed that there were a lot of students in the store and also waiting in line to order. We arrived late in the afternoon. I wonder if there is a high school nearby. There are 2 gender neutral restrooms, both with codes for entry. You'll find the restroom code written on a chalkboard sign that is on the door. I used one of the restrooms and was very surprised by how large it was (see photos). You might even be able to do cartwheels! However I noticed that they didn't have any type of diaper changing station in the room. So while you may be able to push your double stroller into the bathroom, you will not have a convenient place to change your infant's diaper. We ordered 3 drinks during our last visit. The Pistachio Latte is back in season. It is my favorite so I had to order this one. DH tried their Pistachio Cream Cold Brew. He said he liked it. The foam is on the sweet side. DD ordered the Paradise Drink. She felt it was lacking the pineapple bits; it's possible they forgot to add it to the drink. This store is wheelchair accessible. It isn't obvious from the front side on Alvarado St, because there are some steps going up to the front door. You have to go around the corner to use their other entrance.

Came by here the other day to grab a coffee and an egg and cheese protein box! Love the food and drinks, but tired of paying way too much for coffee! Service was good!

Open real early in the morning. My coffee was good. Decided to grab one and walk to fisherman wharf.

Great customer service! Friendly workers and great food. The new Jalapeño food item is amazing. And cute samples for the lobby

This Starbucks is conveniently located next to the Marriott Convention Center. It's a big location and I've always found it to be clean. The staff are friendly and make the drinks correctly. Even on red cup day they had things under control.

First of all, this is a historic bakery in a landmark building in downtown Monterey. As I approached, there was a short line on a Friday around 11 am. After a short wait, I reached the counter and scanned the pastry selection before picking several, asking the kind lady to pack them in two boxes and I brought a couple items back for a friend. After my purchase, I walked to the back area and noticed an outdoor dining area (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=ykERHL4g-pQklkgNQ0Vrsg) besides the counter area (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=-ieBhqZ5feBuptEl0S_sNw) and a small dining room inside (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=TD9doolFBh0oHc9lES_1eQ) (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=95x2W27l2Ab0PGph3FmdhQ). With meals scheduled for the rest of the day, I didn't start on anything until the next morning with the donut (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=0MJJ8kT57A1DTm3XZQFJXQ) for breakfast. It was interesting with the colorful topping; I did not ask the flavor but guessing it was raspberry. It was okay as I like my donuts a little less cakey. The next item that I tried was the blondie (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=XJNQw54ud1nxci3EZF5DXw); I really enjoyed this for dessert a few days later at home. It's been awhile so I really enjoyed this as there was plenty of chocolate pieces to contrast with the dough flavor. Next, I tried the carrot cake cookie (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=96&select=WYgw9_utf096q83PjynR8g) which I enjoyed as it wasn't overly rich. I was only okay with the almond financier (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=48&select=rC2OVgro1o-vIE2rVCNqtg) as the flavors sounded more interesting than they were. I enjoyed the chocolate buckwheat cookie (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=48&select=P6gb3w4hu0CRRQBOPc46jQ) which was very chocolatey. The line was about six deep when I arrived but it moved quickly. The order taker and cashier are efficient. There is coffee and other beverages available as well as meal items and wine and beer after 11 am (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=144&select=6Utt7H0U46KbXamwZoiwrQ). I will return and perhaps have lunch here on another visit. Nice to see more historic places especially for a bakery aptly named.

Plentiful sweet and savory baked goodies, coffee and tea options are available. Ended up selecting the ham and cheese croissant, a cinnamon pull apart muffin and a matcha tea with vanilla syrup (other syrups are also available). Ordered a medium matcha but it is totally a small sized one by my measure. Really like the cinnamon muffin and the ham and cheese croissant wasn't bad either. Don't forget the gooey yummy section at the bottom of the cinnamon muffin !!! Would recommend sitting in the nice courtyard tucked away in the back of the bakery. The Cella Restaurant Bar is also located in the courtyard also and I'm sure this would be a cool romantic spot to chill in the evenings. This appears to be a shared space with the bakery, restaurant and the Cooer smokers Adobe Flower Bouquet Bar/Museum. I was seated next to a small garden where lemon thyme, calendula, artichoke and other herbs and vegetables were planted. Would also suggest taking a stroll through the courtyard and take it all in.... Such a nice area to have a private party or event !

We then asked about the wonderful spicy aroma in the air, and were told that was the daily fresh brewed chai. So we ordered a two iced chai with oatmilk, I instantly loved the abundance of cardamon in my drink. My wife and I are going to try and stop by when ever we are in town. On our way out we also had the pleasure of meeting the owner and a regular who had been coming in since the opening of the East Village Cafe. If only we lived closer we'd become regulars too.

I asked the employee about it, and he told me it was because of the raspberry syrup, which honestly made absolutely no sense. I went back to the counter and asked if I could just get an iced coffee instead. Rather than making a new drink, he said he could add more matcha powder to the cup I already had. He did that, and somehow my matcha went from being white to gray. At that point, I was already pretty frustrated. I finally just asked for an iced coffee because I was over it. They handed me a completely black iced coffee. So I essentially paid $6 for them to pour coffee and water over ice. By that point, I was genuinely so irritated hearing the two coworkers make jokes about doing better next time etc that I just walked out. I completely understand that mistakes happen, but the entire situation was handled so poorly. I tried multiple times to resolve the issue, and somehow I still ended up with a drink I didn't want, after wasting both my time and my money. $6 might not seem like a lot, but paying for something you didn't order and then having the situation handled this poorly is incredibly frustrating. Definitely not the experience I expected, and unfortunately, not one I'd want to repeat.

It's a community. This is definitely a locals only place in the heart of touristy downtown. The food is completely sourced from Costco and they use a microwave judiciously. It does not taste great, but it does remind you of mama's sandwiches that she'd put in your lunch bag as a kid. Coffee and coffee drinks are available and rival Starbucks in their variety and "fun" trends. But they also fresh grind different beans and can do classic coffees (like pour over and cappuccino). It is not the best coffee in the entire world, but it kicks my butt in the best way. I can actually taste the love. There are a half dozen other breakfast spots in town that we enjoy when we are in Monterey - we blew all of them off. This place is too fast and too good, honestly to want to get in the car and head over to any of those other spots. Is this place fancy? No. Is this place big? No! Its tiny! Is the food gourmet? No! Stop asking questions. The food is delicious and hot. The coffee and tea is yummy and hot. Everything is hot. The people are super friendly and hot. I like how real they are too - it's Saturday at 6am, everyone is dragging. I asked the people behind the counter how they were doing and they were (gasp) honest! We don't want to be here! Getting to work at 5am on Saturday is terrible but I respect and appreciate a human response. I really like this place - even the pastries are good and thats a good thing because we bought a bunch of them. I will end with this and then leave you alone - we left this place at 615am and sat down in the main grandstand in Turn 4 at Laguna Seca at 715am to watch epic Historic car racing and sank my teeth into a HOT and beautiful croissant breakfast sandwich with bacon in it in the heavy fog. Everything was wet and cold - I drank my hot tea and ate my food.... and it was simply glorious. Thank you to the real humans at Plumes. Yall rock.
