My favorite Starbucks location in LA! My drinks are always perfect & come out quick, and the team here (especially the girls) are so friendly, helpful and kind. This location also just had the "local coffee shop" remodel and looks completely different than the other Starbucks in the area - giving a more cozy, lived in vibe - so there are a lot of chairs, tables, couches, and seating areas - just in case you're looking for a place to read or study. This is such a busy Starbucks filled with students with after-school homework spread out on tables, and Tweens just hanging out on the comfy sofas throughout the restaurant. There is a Larchmont School nearby, which I assume is a private school, as the students all look well off and in designer clothes. The drinks here are done well, and the clientele non-threatening. I would come back when in the area, as there seems to be enough parking in this rather small mini-mall. read more

I've been coming here for years, but over the last few months it's really been hit or miss with the barista that you get. There's one guy in particular who murders, and I mean that in the worst way, my drink every single time. On my last occasion, he overfilled my drink to the point where it was spilling all over the side of the Cup. He proceeds to put the cap on the cup and hand it to me with sticky coffee all over it. When I asked for a napkin to wipe the cup off, he takes his apron and wipe it off with the apron, then hand it to me. Today I don't even have words, but look at my "shaken" oatmilk espresso in the photo. There are several Starbucks locations in the L.A. area that I've become really familiar with over the years. Service at this location is usually great, friendly and efficient. My drinks almost always come out just right. This location also has more seating than many of their other locations, though depending on the time of day it can get crowded with students from a nearby school. The parking lot is small and limited to 30 minutes, but there is 2-hour street parking just a little bit down Occidental. I've never been unable to find a space. My only complaint about this location is that they have the music pumped up way too loud. Maybe it's an attempt to drive off homeless people, which I understand might be an issue they're trying to address... but it also defeats the idea of sitting with a coffee and relaxing for a bit or (heaven forbid) getting a bit of work done. I tried to listen to a podcast once but even my noise canceling headphones couldn't overcome the thumping music on the Starbucks speakers. For this reason, and this reason only, I wouldn't recommend this Starbucks if you are looking to do anything with earbuds in. Great for socializing and take-out, though! read more

This coffee shop is within walking distance to me, so I frequent it quite often. The coffee is decent enough. However, if you want to work you better have GOOD noise cancelling headphones. I do, and even then the music seeps into my ears. Now, I'm not easily distracted per se, but the music is distractingly loud. If I ask them to turn it down, it's a hit or miss depending on who is behind the counter. The employees chit chat a lot and seem to have fun, which is great! But does the music need to be so loud? No. This is a coffee shop where people come to work, hang out, or simply sit and sip their drink. I won't stop coming, but they should take the patrons into consideration when they decide to blast music like its a rave. read more

Where do I start. This Starbucks has been one of the best I have ever been to and that is because of the people there and to be more specific because of this young girls name who starts with Mai. She was really helpful and was in great spirits and best of all cool. She really knew how to engage with not only myself but others as well. She made sure my order was taken care of. I will come back to this Starbucks just for the music and the vibes, it was great and refreshing to hear anything other than boring Starbucks music. Today I walked in and the girl didn't even greet me I paid with cash and I'm surprised they even took it plenty of times I tried to pay with $100 and they couldn't get me change proceeding to get my food I ask for 3 large waters to go and the girl who handled my order was chatting it up with the male co worker she being female I asked for waters and she handed them to me after she asked if I needed the cup holder which she also handed to me but she saw I was eating my food in the other hand so why couldn't she just place my waters in the holes for me. I mean that it was a saw her other co worker do to another male guest so why couldn't she give me the range or better service instead of paying attention to me I'm helping me with finishing my order she made me place my own waters myself while I'm my other hand I was eating. This has been my go to Starbucks as it is closed to my residence. I know some of the wonderful baristas in this branch. I come here frequently to sit and enjoy their coffee because I live close by, however today my iced coffee was awful. The coffee tasted like it had been sitting out for a very long time it also tasted watery and bitter! To start this review I'd like to say I was not a Starbucks or coffee shop-type person but rather preferred to drink coffee from the comfort of my own home. I always feared going into a coffee shop and being greeted by rude baristas who were tired of their jobs and hordes of people but to my surprise, it was the complete opposite when visiting this Starbucks. I would like to give a very special thank you to the 4 wonderful Baristas who have helped make this Starbucks a staple in my commute. From the ambiance to the generosity and willingness to help they made sure I felt welcomed and they even recommended movies and music, it is clear how cultured they are (my cup of tea...or coffee). And most important of all, is how clean they keep the place. Thank you to Ryan, Maiya, Elizabeth, and Vee as they have exceeded my expectations and are always working so hard. Every time I step into this store I know I will be leaving happy and satisfied which is why I recommend this store to anyone. I went in to get refill with January refill tumbler and the service was horrible. They did not know how to charge for free refill plus my order was not right. I ordered coffee with milk. When I got my coffee, it was black coffee. I asked for milk to be added and they give me an odd look and pour milk on the tumbler. I asked it's is spilled over tumbler and they did not listen. This location is fairly large and great for working if you're within walking distance. Staff has been nothing but friendly and the restrooms are always clean (although usually out of hand soap). The only charging outlets that are functional are the ones at the community table near where you pick up drinks. There are comfier seats by the entrance but the outlets do not work. read more

When I first moved here 6 months ago, I knew it was going to be a bit of a challenge to find a store that I can consider "my local starbucks", especially considering how many surrounding stores are around this area. I can singlehandedly say that every time I've walked in here, busy or not, early in the morning or late in the afternoon, I've always been greeted with a friendly "hello" or a smile, which for some reason you don't get at a lot of at other cafe stores. In short, the baristas here are all so friendly, some of which have taken the time to remember my name which goes a long way for me. They're always so helpful, friendly, patient, and never once have I left this location having had a bad experience or even a bad drink. Id give out some names, but they're honestly all so great and amazing with time efficiency. And though I do prefer drive thru's, I make the extra time to come out of my way a little ways down the street. Stopped by for quick catches up with friends. I wanted drink coffee so badly and I called my friend to meet me at this place. We ordered ice americano, Caramel Frappuccino, caramel brûlée latte, ice caramel brûlée latte and cheese danish. And we chatted little and the barista call my name and she explained me for no more brûlée latte with apologized and I was ok with that. I changed ordered caramel ice macchiato with extra syrup and hot caramel macchiato. She bring cheese danish to me and it was nice. They're always call name and have to pick it up. Consistently awful service. They mix up online orders with in-store ones - I waited a while to get my drink or food a few times now because of these mix-ups. I saw the staff point at me and look me in the eye on the other side of the room and say something I couldn't hear - unprofessional for a Starbucks branch (Starbucks is a great company and the staff here just isn't a great representation of Starbucks culture!!!). This place was great when they first opened, but since then they have declined drastically. Being the only Starbucks north of Wilshire, the place gets packed and parking is horrific. Because of this, the demands are higher and quality of customer service and preparation is poor. I've ordered my drinks with Almond milk. Once, I've even questioned if they just poured regular milk in my drink vs almond milk. The barista blatantly lied to me. It was clear she poured from the gallon size jug. Being lactose and soy intolerant causing major abdominal pain, it was clear they either don't care or read customer's requests. The staff need to be aware of customers food intolerance and allergies. I went here to study on all day on weekends and occasionally on weekdays after 7. Considering we're in LA with many, many Starbucks locations to choose from, I pick this one. It is situated in a small plaza, which has a small parking lot, which I love (better than others where there are no parking spots OR you have to pay for parking!!). Parking always isn't easy because it can get full. Just wait a little and a spot will open up eventually. It's easy on weekdays to park here. Only Starbucks in the area I'll go to. Never to crowded and the workers here are A+. I've even witnessed a worker helping out a blind gentleman by guiding him to a seat and instead of yelling his name when his drink was ready, the worker walked it out from around the corner and let him know he set it on the table in-front of him.
