The staff here is really friendly, I think part of the reason is because I work nearby and I come frequently. But the layout is really intimate but spaced out so if you need to study you can without worrying about people bothering you. There is outdoor seating as well, which is great on those nice summer/ fall days that you just wanna soak up some rays. read more

Great addition to the Rio area! The employees are welcoming, friendly and always provide service with a smile. The options on their menu are kept in stock and the manager is always an eye shot away for additional assistance. I have been here for early mornings and evenings and each time received consistent service. This is one of my favorite locations in the MoCo. :) read more

I know this is a brand new Starbucks but it so falls short of Starbucks expectations. My wife and I were headed to Rockville and had 10 minutes to kill, so she decided to get coffee at 1:40 on a Sunday. She walked out at 1:55! Making us 5 minutes late to our obligation in Rockville. Here's what happened... First, she was told they no longer served decaf at that time because they were closing at 4 - what?? Don't they realize that the later in the day, the more likely people are to drink decaf? Eventually, the manager said they could do a pour over - of course you can! Then, my wife asked for non-dairy creamer and the gentleman behind the counter said they didn't have any. Huh? How do you not have non-dairy creamer at this new upscale location? As my wife pushed him, asked he what kind she wanted. She said "soy milk or almond milk is fine" and he said, "oh, we have soy milk." So they do have non-dairy creamer? Which is it? Not off to a good start Starbucks! Train your people in knowledge and customer service. I would expect this level of service from a McDonalds or Taco Bell, not Starbucks. read more

The baristas are always kind as could be, my mobile order is always ready right away regardless of the time of day, and how can you beat the convenient location?! Lots of outdoor seating on a sunny patio, plenty of plugs indoors, fast wifi, and a diaper changing station in both of the men's and women's restrooms! Starbucks clearly has addressed issues in other locations by building this location correctly from the start. I've never had difficulty finding a table when I've come here the past 11 times (compared to Wintergreen Plaza in Rockville). What's not to like? read more

So with the new project I'm working on at work, some mornings I need coffee to get me started! I'm not a huge fan of coffee, let alone of Starbucks, but some days it's what's needed! This location is near Work for me on my way in so I decided to stop in! This place was packed!! The line was long but moving at 7:40 in the morning! I ordered my iced coffee with very specific option as I'm trying to keep the sugar/carbs down! Needless to say, I've only been to this location twice and in the two times Ive come in, my order was not right and had to be corrected! The second time the young lady basically told me I should try something else! I know she was trying to be nice, but her ideas didn't fit into my dietary specifications! So thanks, but no thanks! What more can you say, it's Starbucks! My iced coffee did the job for me!! There is a closer location to my job in the Rio, so I'll probably go there moving forward!! read more

Be careful with phone and other devices! My wife visited this location earlier today and was pickpocketed by a couple men, one who seemed to be kind of blocking the entrance/exit to the bathroom and the other one who seemed to be "going to the bathroom". One bumped into her as her hands were full after a meeting and they were able to snatch her cell phone from her oversized sweater pockets, just be careful out in public and aware of your surroundings. After her conquest, she left Obergruppenführer Jenna to guard over Rio in her stead. Both have flourished, especially with the aid of Greg as ExO of Rio. Greg, a loyal foot-soldier of the resistance, remained behind, avoiding the dangers of the front lines, as Su once so astutely commented from her throne ...because he has a family... a child. Rarely has a faster paced Starbucks so quickly produced such perfectly crafted espresso beverages with an almost machine like efficiency. And did I mention they have a CLOVER?! read more

Updated 3/19/17 I love this crew! I went in today in a completely FOUL mood. Figured I'd get my coffee and continue my day. Granted, I'm a regular (visit here at least 6x a week), but they ALL greeted me with a smile. Nicole took my order, and Susan always says hello. Made me forget my bad mood. Starbucks philosophy on customer satisfaction is make a consistent product with consistent service. I've been to a lot of stores in many different cities. This Starbucks is the best I've been to for 3 reasons. 1) They have a clover. Starbucks reserve coffee made on their clover machine is awesome. It's like a reverse French press and it makes the coffee so rich and flavorful. Not every Starbucks has a clover, but it is worth trying if you've never had. The app will tell you what stores near you have a clover. 2) DT Crown is very convenient. I know this isn't the case for everyone in the DC area, but I can think of 5 or 6 in a 2 mile radius of this Starbucks. This is the most convenient for store for me. 3) The crew is *amazing*. Really. The manager, Su, totally empowers her team to make sure every customer is happy. They're fast, they're knowledgable, they have a really clean store. The entire team is good (I have NOT experienced a B team like in other stores) and friendly. They ALL actually seem happy to be there. The crew is what exponentially separates this store from all the all the others. read more

closes early but it makes sense cus there isn't much traffic around the new area yet. it is pretty small. staff seems to be learning things right now but 9 out of 10 times i've been here the service has been great :) the 1 time i had a bad experience wasn't because the way i was treated but the way the baristas were speaking to each other. one lady was very condescending to the other girl and got upset because she emptied something out. it didn't seem like it was a big deal and i think it was very unprofessional especially on the floor where customers are. read more

Definitely my favorite Starbucks. The staff makes you feel at home. Some of them always remember my name and my usual order, so when I get to the cashier, my tall americano is ready already. I appreciate that a lot. Also, the place has great natural light and always a pleasant temperature (no crazy air conditioning), so it is ideal to work or study. Since I just moved to Rockville/Gaithersburg, I had scouted out all the Starbucks in the area. By far this is hands down the best one! The staff is very friendly and will even suggest drinks if you would like. And of course, the drinks are magnificent. My favorite part is that it is never crowded, nearly EVERY table has wall outlets to charge your phone or laptop, and the wifi is the fastest this side of the Mississippi. I've visited this location three days this week. I've ordered the same thing (reduced fat turkey bacon sandwich and iced water with matcha) every day for breakfast and the price was different every day. Monday it was $6 and change. Yesterday it was $4 and change. Today it was $7 and change. I noticed this morning that she rang my ice water with match up as an ice tea plus matcha and questioned it. She stated the policy changed and it is now considered a custom drink. Seriously? She gave me my sandwich. I went out to the car parked in the Harris Teeter parking lot next door only to realize she gave me a scone instead of my sandwich. Had to go back and wait for my sandwich. This is and always has been the best Starbucks around. Actually one of the best in the country. Staff is so wonderful. The have great skills and are always professional. Customer Service at this location is better than best! All other Starbucks should have their employees trained like the staff here. They make solid drinks. Which is a huge plus considering that this location is located pretty darn close to my property. I'm sure we've all experienced their share of terrible Starbucks locations where the drinks taste nothing like they're supposed to haha... The baristas here are great and friendly and do their best to keep the experience closet to help you get out the door as quickly as possible especially when you need to start your morning commute ASAP. Even though there is ample parking in the area in general wish they had a few more designated Starbucks only short term parking spots right in front of the store to make my morning coffee runs faster. I like walking into the store but wish they had a drive through option as well in order to save time looking for parking especially in the mornings when you are rushing to get on the road to start your morning commute! read more

This was my regular starbucks for years, but after being out of the area for school since last fall, I've returned home to find that my favorite spot isn't as good as it used to be. There are some new people here, so I'll cut them some slack, but the faces that are familiar aren't as friendly anymore. Everyone seems impatient with either their customers or coworkers. The store also doesn't seem as clean as it used to be. Also, one of the long time employees seems to place his hands on his manager's hips, waist, and back in a very inappropriate way and it gives off a really bad impression. Basically, if you come in here and don't recognize the faces, you should go somewhere else. If you do see the staff that you know and love, maybe expect their mood to be brought down a bit by all the new people who aren't as good yet. read more
