As far as food and beverage quality goes, Starbucks is remarkably consistent store to store. So, if you like the Starbucks taste you will like it here. If you don't then you won't like it here either. As far as location and interior décor this Starbucks is as good as any other. The parking lot is a little awkward, but for the most part this Starbucks delivers pretty much exactly what you expect. The service here, however, is exceptional - even when compared to other Starbucks. My server (Shae, I believe) wasn't merely pleasant, but genuinely seemed happy to see me. She took obvious pride in her mission to serve others and add just a little bit of extra comfort and happiness in the world. In today's self-entitled world, precious few understand the true dignity that serving others affords. I walked into this Starbucks with high expectations of their quality of product. Those expectations were exceeded by their quality of heart.

We stopped in each morning during our three-day stay in E-town and by the third morning she knew what we wanted even before we ordered. That's magic! But it wasn't just us, it was a number of customers who she knew the names, faces and orders for and she did it while being polite, personable and efficient. I think it would be a smart move for the management at Second Cup to have new "baristas" at other locations shadow her for a few days, or maybe a week, and observe how she interacts with customers. She's "old school" in her approach to customer service and "the kids" could learn so much from her. I don't need a heart or a smiley face on my latte to make me become a regular at a coffee shop, what I want is genuine human interaction from the person serving me my coffee.

When I received my order and took a sip (after I had already left) it tasted so sweet, so I don't think they gave me the lightly sweetened version of my drink. Wandering the maze of hallways in NAIT on a Monday is a great way to start the week, isn't it? I anticipated it being interesting and I'm not particularly fond of the NAIT campus. It's sprawling and disorganized. There are many interesting programs and things happening here though. I figured I knew where the Starbucks was, and I was right. It's located in the Common Market and is peripheral to the large, open cafeteria space. This Starbucks is really geared to students only, and there's no free wireless per se. You can't just login and go. There is public wireless access, but if you're not a student or staff, that requires a call to the help desk. Ten minutes later, after identifying who I was, who I was with and what I was doing, I was granted 24 hour access. Pain in the butt! This isn't your average Starbucks. You're not going to come here unless you have business of some sort at NAIT. I'm going to evaluate it partially from that perspective, but also from the perspective of anyone looking for a place to plug in. If you have business here, it's okay, but otherwise, it's a real pain to find parking, you have to walk quite a distance to get to it, there are few power outlets and logging in is a serious pain. Best to avoid it unless you have a reason to be here. Busyness - Judging by the approximately 200 seats, this place probably gets very busy. Today it's quiet. Classes for most haven't started yet. Noisiness - There is no carpet and little else to absorb the sound, so I can imagine it gets incredibly noisy. Ambience - The space is dimly lit with institutional fluorescent lights, and has a wall of windows on one side. In the centre of the room are several couches that look to be fairly comfortable. It's fairly typical of any large educational institution. Power - Seems to be very limited and found only on permanent walls. Couldn't see any outlets by the windows and forget power on the middle seats, which form the majority of seats here. Free wifi - It's free, but it's not an anonymous login like you have at other Starbucks. If you don't already have a login as a staff member or student it took me ten minutes to get a 24 hour login. One really good thing is that it's fast! Staff - The staff seem to be friendly and on top of things. I bet they're busy when school's in session . Seating - There are a lot of seats here. I am thinking 200, but who knows. I'm not going to count. I do like the fact that the tables are large and give you a lot of space to work on. Security - Colleges and universities are prime locations for laptop theft. Ensure yours is locked with a security cable to a secure object such as a chair or take it with you.

Before long we drank our drinks before they got cold but had not received two of our food items. The drive thru continued to be priority and we had to prod staff so they remembered our food. Time to either get rid of sit down spaces or make them equal priority. Will make me question going there for more than a drink in future. Or, I'll hit the drive thru and then go sit in.

All I ordered was 2 bacon breakfast sandwiches and a coffee with 3 cream. 1st trip last week, coffee comes to me black. I can forgive this because the coffee is still edible when it's black. Today I go there and put in the exact same order - 2 bacon breakfast sandwiches and a coffee with 3 cream. I get my sandwiches home and it turns out one of them is a sausage sandwich. I hate breakfast sausage sandwiches, because they smell so nasty it's like anus wrapped in vomit, diarrhea, and period blood. I spend 20 mins on the phone with the Starbucks and they can't find my receipt. Fortunately, they put an approximation of my order on one of the breakfast sandwich wrappers so I still had that. They asked me if I could come back, I said not right now but later I could. I went to the gym to work out and then on my way home came back through the Starbucks. I gave them the wrapper and this time they stepped up and paid for their mistake, gave me a free bacon egg and gouda breakfast sandwich - they were all out of the bacon egg and cheese ones by that time. Still though, very frustrating to go there twice and have the order screwed up both times. There's a new Starbucks just down on the road in between Gateway Blvd and Calgary Trail and 51 Ave. I'll be going there from now on, give a new location a shot. If I had put in an order for 20 customized coffees than I could forgive them for screwing up something in the order. Even a 1 time screwup I could forgive. Consecutive screwups on a simple order, though? I cannot overlook that.
