They are black and locally owned and are the only bakery that opens late in YEG (midnight on Friday and Saturdays!) It is a cool hangout spot with a retro arcade game machine and graffiti art. Their most popular item is their Phat Tarts which brings me back nostalgically to the 90s - similar to pop tarts! They also serve a variety of drinks (including large variety of alcoholic options: wine, coffee, beer, cocktails)and many other baked treats. They held a Yelp Elite event to showcase their desserts and drink pairings. They have events every few weeks which feature their 5 most popular desserts paired with 5 wines. We drank blueberry lemonades, an iced strawberry matcha, and a real fruit grapefruit tea - that's right tea with fresh red grapefruit in it! Everything was made fresh and bursting with flavour. Be prepared to wait a bit here as it does get busy - but it's worth it. The cheese corn pizza is hard to describe - it was hit and miss in our group but enjoyable for sure. They also advertised they have bubble tea, halo halo, and various pops. Behind the counter, there were white steamed buns and the gentleman working there told us there was pork inside. There were a few trays of baked breads and also a warmed with chicken empanadas. After lunch we went back to pick up a few things. I got 2 empanadas ($1.99 each) and 2 cream puffs ($2.25 each). My friend had one of the cakes before and said it was sweet so I decided not to try any as I don't like overly sweet desserts. Later that day, I had the cream puff and it was filled with lots of fluffy cream. The chicken empanada filling reminded me of what I use when I make chicken pot pie without the liquid. For $2, there was a decent amount of chicken but it was sweet and I prefer more savoury. I heated it in the toaster oven so the outside shell would be crispy and it was flaky and warm inside. If I'm in the area, I would go back and see what else they had. It's great to support a local business and the service was friendly.
