A few years ago, this Starbucks relocated from LaVista to it's current location. Having gone to it when it was on LaVista, I can say the new location is a huge upgrade. The newer location has more space which is nicely laid out to accommodate people who want to work without being in the direct line of other customers entering and exiting. In addition to the usual table/chair combos, there also some barstools near the front which are useful for enjoying your drink of choice while people watching. If you are like me and prefer just a hot cup of plain coffee, this is the location for you. They have the newer brewing stations which brew a cup of coffee on demand versus the old setup where coffee was brewed into the large pots and once empty it required time for the next pot to brew. The new setup allows me to have a cup of blonde roast regardless the time of day. The baristas are always warm and welcoming. Add to that the new brewing stations and it's conveniently located and this has become my go-to Starbucks. read more

The Lakewood Starbucks that was on La Vista moved down the street, and reopened in this sweet new spot. There is way more parking, and the space inside is awesome with lots of seating. There is not a drive thru so pull up a chair and enjoy all your Starbucks' favorites in a cozy setting. PS - I saw several of Dallas' finest policeman visit this location, and that is always a good feeling in case a Karen situation breaks out while you're enjoying your coffee. read more

Was on the way to assist with the Baylor-Tom Landry Triathlon and needed a quick bite and drink. As I started to go to a nearby fast food joint, I saw this Starbucks that I'd never been to so made a high G- Force turn into the parking space as this location did not have a drive through. The place was nearly empty and the easy going, slow moving staff was rearranging the displays and pastries. Looking around, it was a rather spacious interior with plenty of interesting /eclectic photos and knick knacks hanging on the walls. Eventually, they took our order. Our order was simple, a decaf-latte, hot chocolate and 2 cheddar & egg sandwiches to go. I had asked if they could add bacon to a bagel with cream cheese and they informed us there wasn't a way to ring that up so they couldn't. After about 5 minutes, our drinks were ready. We began drinking on the drinks while within the store as I remembered I'd never reviewed or taken pictures. A couple of minutes more and the sandwiches were ready. Once we got the sandwiches, we were on the road. Upon arrival in the staging area we spread out our feast and realized they had added a bagel with cream cheese; not ordered but we paid for. I guess I had confused them. The sandwiches were of typical Starbucks taste and high quality. The drinks were the same. The drive through next door would have been faster, cheaper but also no bagel with cream cheese and bacon. read more

That time when everyone got pepper sprayed at Starbucks Went to Starbucks on my birthday, April 17, and immediately when I walked in I had an itch in my throat. I was surprised that the barista laughed every time I coughed. I realized that everyone in the store was coughing. It dawned on me that someone must have accidentally deployed pepper spray in the building. The manager did not make an announcement to customers explaining that there was an irritant in the air. Staff aren't as attentive or friendly and the orders take forever to get, even during a slow time. If it's busy forget getting your drink within 30min. I got a tall coffee and I probably stood there for a good 5 minutes. There was no one there before me...the barista apologized for the wait but I'm not sure what she was doing to make me wait. Apparently this place is getting worse. Just sent my husband in to pick something up for me and they proceeded to make fun of his west Texas accent and made him repeat the order three time just to hear him say it again. It makes me sad to write this as this use to be my favorite Starbucks to regularly visit. Something has slowly happened over the last two months and it's not good. The baraistas are slow, grumpy, messy and sloppy. The attention given to app orders greatly outweighs the in store patrons. My same order, every time, is a simple dopio shot (the easiest thing to make). It use to be I'd walk-in, order and boom the best barista in the world would have it ready before I actually left the register. Today: it took 16 minutes to get my double shot!!!! Seriously?!?! I would not recommend this Starbucks! I drove and drove for this specific Starbucks because I knew it was a hidden gem and hopefully it would not be too busy so that I can get some work done. And much to my surprise it was closed early at 3PM on a Saturday, per the mangled sign on the door. I drove up around 7:30 PM when the hours are clearly stated to be closed at 10 PM on their website and on yelp and Google. 1 star is being kind. read more

Starbucks is a Starbucks is a Starbucks. Yes, they're all the same. But, this one has a lil' bit of a twist to it. I suppose it's the fact that Lakewood is such a fun area. The baristas are really friendly, really. But, it's been my experience that you have to go a few times before they really start being nice, you know, offering that legendary service. It doesn't have much outdoor seating, but it's pretty chill. The inside is rad, I really like the high ceiling. One negative: it's not always the cleanest store. read more

This is a pretty standard Starbucks both in the product and the atmosphere. I come during off hours since I'm a student, and the the staff are always kind and welcoming, which I appreciate. I have seen a bit of variation in this attitude during busier times though. The biggest issue here is the size in relation to the popularity of this place. Indoor seating is often full, which can make it difficult to sit inside and relax or work during peak hours. This is better in cooler months when outside is more of an option. Parking is also a bit precarious, so be aware that backing out can be a bit tricky. Overall, this is your standard Starbucks. read more

I called the store once I made it to my office. I wanted to speak with a manager to explain why I was canceling my order for Thursday. I worked in customer service for 8 years, so I always want to provide feedback to managers whether it be good or bad. When I called the store a manager was not available. However, I did speak with one of the ladies that was at the counter when I went to pick up my order. I explained to her that the "apology" I received, when I had informed them that my order had been late two of the three days, was not sincere at all. Second, there was no sense of urgency in getting my incredibly tardy order ready. From the time I walked in to pick it up, to the time I walked out the door 20 minutes had passed. Recovery of a mistake that was made is key. A proper recovery can save a lot of grief. Having come from the customer service industry I realize people make mistakes, and that's why I always give people a chance to correct it. The woman on the phone began apologizing, sincerely this time, and comped my coffee for the next morning after I told her I was canceling the order. I did not care about the free coffee as my company was paying for it. All I cared about was whether it would be on time. I asked her three times, " You are sure this will be ready on time?" I went in on Thursday to pick up my final order. It was ready. The gentleman at the counter asked me to pay and I informed him it was complimentary. He then informed me that his store just down the street had just opened and I should visit them. He was incredibly friendly and had a very personable attitude. When I made it out to my car I noticed I didn't have my creamer. I went back in, and the gentleman explained to me he had put it in the bag with tape on top so it didn't spill out which just thrilled me to the core! It is so much easier to carry travellers with the cream in a separate bag rather than those little "saddlebags" they use. Overall, I would give this location another try... only if it was on a less important meeting with less prominent people from my company. I don't want to get my butt handed to me again :) read more

Among the Starbucks chain, I'd give this one 5 stars. But when there are places like Method, Davis Street, Weekend, Ascension, etc., I can't really give it more than 3 stars. Still, this is the ideal Starbucks for me for various reasons... First, they remodeled this location within the last year or two, and I can tell. The old layout was uglier and more cramped. Now it feels spacious and has bar seating by the windows and a communal table in the middle. It's been a perfect setup for me to work on homework during an intense summer class. The music selection seems better than other Starbucks as well, with a nice mix of Elliott Smith, Neko Case, Jeff Buckley, etc. A so-so $2 iced coffee has been my go-to drink. Oh, and there seem to be some eccentric regulars...East Dallas is a trip. read more

Having lived walking distance from this Starbucks since we moved to Dallas, my husband, dog and I have been regulars here for more than four years. The baristas are super nice and very efficient, and they really get to know their regulars; at one point we were ordering the same drinks so frequently that they knew what we wanted as soon as one of us walked in. I honestly avoid all other Starbucks locations, simply because they just seem way more corporate than this one. This location really feels like a neighborhood coffee shop. We've met a lot of neighborhood folks just sitting outside with our dog on weekends. This Starbucks is VERY dog-friendly and there are often water bowls left out for the pups; otherwise they are happy to fill up a cup with water for your doggie upon request. read more

This is a funny location. It's difficult to find parking and if you do, it's trouble getting back out. The roads nearby are just so busy! There's a teeny tiny patio area at this location. It maybe had one table and a few chairs. There is an old mural around the patio area that is discolored and could stand to be repainted. Inside looks pretty standard. Since this Starbucks is walking distance to my house, we go every weekend. The staff is hit or miss. Some workers are so nice and genuine, while others do not seem like they know what they are doing. They need to learnt the product: aka cold brew coffee is more expensive than iced coffee...which I was overcharged when this was miscommunicated to me last weekend. It is the little things, like knowing my name after being a customer for nearly two years on a bi-weekly basis...which has STILL not happened. Finally, the usual register guy said to me "what's your name again? We were told we need to leant our customers names". It is a fairly small Starbucks but they do have a huge table (seats about 10) in the middle that you can reserve. I have been coming to this location for years, and now I live within walking distance of it. I love their patio when the weather is nice, and still sit out there early morning in the summer too. My dogs feel right at home, as I would have to say the most dog friendly Starbucks I know of in DFW. My drinks are always right, they remember your name, it's a diverse area with diverse regulars, an easy location to make friends, have even stumbled into some business enjoying my morning coffee. They make it easy to work with their strong signal free WiFi, and actual power outlets OUTSIDE which is hard to find at many of the newer Starbucks. read more

I'm with Sarah Y. on this one. Average establishment in an incredibly awkward location. Parking in front is at your own risk as getting out against traffic can be a bit of a bear. The interior isn't quite big enough to accommodate the line that forms in the morning, and there's not really anywhere to stand to wait on your order. The food and drink are on par with any other Starbucks, and the staff is super friendly, but the awkwardness of parking and standing around waiting is enough to make this just A-OK for me. read more
