Stopped by Starbucks today for one of my go-to iced drinks--the Caramel Ribbon Crunch--and it did not disappoint. It's always a solid choice when you want something sweet, cold, and consistent. I decided to sit in and do a little journaling, and the atmosphere was exactly what I needed. It's cool inside (perfect break from the heat), clean, and not overly crowded. There's soft background music playing--nothing loud or distracting--just a calm, easy vibe that lets you focus or unwind. There were quite a few people enjoying the outdoor seating since the weather was nice, but inside still felt relaxed and comfortable. Service was great--quick, friendly, and efficient. Someone please help with this. I've been visiting Starbucks for many, many years. Today I ordered a tall Pikes with half and half and one raw sugar. I said lots of cream. On the board they charged me .70 cents extra for the cream, calling it Breve. I said I have never been charged extra for cream in my coffee at Starbucks ever in my life. They said they will give me a splash for free, but extra cream costs more. I can come inside and make my own and put tons of cream in for free can't I? Every morning I order the same thing, and every morning besides my coffee, it is never consistent. Hot tea should always have a stopper, yet I always need to ask for one. I have to ask for a bag for my food nearly every time and as well as a straw for my cold drink. One day I pulled up to the window and the employee said he accidentally knocked over one of my drinks and asked me if I would like them to remake a drink that I paid for. Baby girl wanted Starbucks and I had to take her today. I've been to this location a few times and it's very convenient for the area. There's always a line in the drive thru. Decently sized but when I stopped by, the parking lot was nearly completely full. They weren't in the sandwich place and they weren't in the mattress place. They were all in the coffee place. This Starbucks was super busy and very crowded. Loud with people and with espresso being steamed, but when it's not busy there is enough room to sit with a laptop for a bit. On the plus side, it is a standalone Starbucks, as opposed to being inside one of the supermarkets nearby. They do have a drive through now, which probably makes it way easier for the folks headed towards Uptown Charlotte. I think access is difficult. read more

I placed an online order At 4:02pm on Fri, Dec 28th, 2018. to the Starbucks at the following location. Hwy 49 & Steelecroft Pkwy 13129 S Tryon St #100, Charlotte, NC 28278 For 1 Frappuccino, and 1 sausage and egg sandwich. I arrived at the location and waited for my food and drink. After some time, my drink arrived, I informed the employee that I was also waiting for a sausage and egg sandwich. He said, and I quote, "I think we might be out of all the breakfast sandwiches, I don't know, you'll have to go wait in line and ask the cashier..." I went and waited in line, which was about 5 people deep. OK, I finally get to the cashier (my Frappuccino melting, my handicapped wife waiting in the car, for said frapp). I explained the situation to the cashier. She says she'll check and see if they have the sandwich. She checks and there is no sandwich. And she says, "sorry, we are out". Then she just stands there in silence for 30 or 40 seconds. Until I finally say, "well, can I get a refund". And I said, "to be honest, I would like a drink coupon for my troubles, because the way the first employee handled this was very rude. And if I can't have the drink coupon, I'd just like to speak to the manager". The cashier is nice btw, just appears really new and doesn't know how to do a return. She gets the supervisor, who has been in earshot the whole time. The supervisor never gave her name. But she asked what the problem was. I explained again. She said she would give me a refund, but that starbucks didn't do drink coupons anymore. I said that's fine, I just feel the services today was rude and I'd like a store card for contact. She claimed she was all out of cards. And then still wouldn't give her name. (which wasn't a huge deal, I have to stress that I was calm and not cursing or anything, because I know starbucks HQ usually takes care of frequent customers in these situations) So while she is on the register, I snap a quick picture, so I have a reference for who told me stuff and who handled this. No flash, just pulled my phone up real quick and took the pic. At this point I had not even raised my voice (and I never did while there). The supervisor notices me take the picture and immediately demands!! I delete it. I ignore her request and simply say "I'd like my money back, for the sandwich I have paid for, that you do not have", she again demands I delete the photo or she will call the cops. I said "go head, I haven't done anything illegal, I'm allowed to take photos. Please give me my money back for the sandwich you do not have". She then calls the cops. (i call my handicapped wife who is in the car, to explain what's happening) I stand there, my Frappuccino melted into an ugly mess. While she calls the cops for 10 mins. She finally gets off the phone and claims the cops are coming. But finally gives me my return and says "have a nice day". Clearly she didn't want me to stay, and since I hadn't broken a single law yet, I wasn't going to defy her and stay. I had no reason to, I had everything I need at that point. Maybe inform this supervisor, that it isn't illegal to take photo or video in starbucks. That's how terrible viral videos of starbucks happened. This all ended about 4:30. I am appalled at what I had to sit through and how I was treated in front of a room full of people. And I do not plan to let this go without some form of compensation. This whole ordeal was ridiculously unnecessary and starbucks had several opportunities in this one situation to correct this. I suggested drink coupon, because that's what you used to do, that's fine if it's no longer the go to, but she offered nothing but a hard time to me. read more

Love the customer service at this Starbucks location. As I was greeted with huge smiles, granted it was still so early in the morning. The fact this location opens their door at 5:00 am, it's great for us the early birds. For this they earned 4.5 stars in my book. Came in this morning 1/8/19 at 5:49 am to pick up my mobile order that I placed at 5:41 am. There was no costumers inside the store, a few drive-thru orders.The order was just as I placed it, sadly it took too long for the order to come out. I ended up leaving by 5:57am and cause me to be late to my next destination. For the excessive wait I give 1.5 stars. Hope to update my review next visit. read more

This Starbucks was originally located across the street in the Rivergate plaza. In the same parking lot as McDonald! And boy did I love that place. A little place but the outdoor patio area was great. They have really upgraded this Starbucks when they moved. They added a DRIVE THRU! Thanks Baby Jesus. And the screen show you who you're talking to. Very neat.. You step inside and it's very pleasant and spacious which the other location didn't have. Lots of table., even a nice nook to get away from ppl if you're really trying to focus. The staffs as usual are on point. I did miss the old staffs..twice now that I seen a lot of new faces. Didn't see anybody from the old location. That's a bummer. The only sad thing to the new location is the outdoor seating are small. And the sun beam on us the whole day.. Unlike the other location. Our new Starbucks has been open nearly a week, so I felt it was time to give them a preliminary review. First off, I love this location. It is right across from the Carolina Healthcare System Hospital at the intersection of Steele Creek Pkwy and S. Tryon. Even better, it is the jumping-off and ending stop for the CATS Steele Creek Express (http://goo.gl/bfGORF). Those two factors alone automatically make this my favorite coffee location. In addition to this prime location that, incidentally, is also next door to a Jimmy Johns that will be opening soon, this Starbucks has a drive-thru. It is my understanding that is the main reason they decided to open it here. They already have three locations within a 1/4 mile with in-store setups in Harris Teeter and Target respectfully, as well as a free standing unit in Rivergate just down the road. None of the aforementioned locations have a drive-thru which makes them worthless for me. This location seems to be geared mostly towards the drive -thru traffic with a very long driveway wrapping around the building. But, it's not just a drive-thru location. They have a very nice, if slightly smaller interior complete with pub style tables, and a variety of tables and chairs lining the walls and center of the store. That being said, it was slightly confusing when I came in. There was no clear delineation for where the line begins for ordering. You actually have to walk through the middle of the store and wrap-around on the far side in order to enter the line. I only knew this because I watched the CATS driver make his way to order just ahead of me. The store is complete with all the expected essentials, including a blazing hot WIFI, their standard Spotify-inspired music; App-based ordering: including ordering ahead of arriving to avoid lines; very nice restrooms; and a few tent-covered round-tables and chairs just outside the front door. Regarding the team, I have to say they are more than a bit green. They seem to be a little hesitant to speak-up; There seems to be some trepidation with orders: it takes a bit longer than I am accustomed to. But, they seem to be on the right path. I think it is not a question of "If" they will get better, but how long will it take for them to start functioning as efficiently as most locations. For now, the product is a 5, the location is a 5, the price is always a 3, and the team is a 3. Overall I give them 4-stars. read more

I visited this Starbucks on Friday and then again today, Tuesday. Both times I ordered a Grande Iced Chai Tea Latte with 10 pumps of Chai and a Venti White Chocolate Peppermint Mocha. On Friday, the Chai was made with nothing but water and Chai concentrate, which tasted awful. I know it is difficult because of the amount of Chai, but there should have been some milk in it. The White Chocolate Peppermint both days was Mocha, which I know some people like, but I detest it. Needless to say, this Starbucks has let me down. Given the declining service since the summer of 2018, increase in drive-thru wait times, and constant influx of new employees who are *always in training* at this location, I feel this review is long overdue. I have been coming to this Starbucks for 6+ years. I went to the original location and was pleased when it relocated down the street with a drive-thru window. I thought the convenience of an efficient drive-thru was well worth the move. Sadly, the drive-thru at this location is anything but efficient. Unfortunately, the original, reliable crew - who consistently made this such a great Starbucks years ago - no longer works here. Once this location trains quality staff now, those staff are relocated elsewhere. The amount of turnover is unparalleled...I have never seen so many staff come and go at the rate people are in and out of this place. Being a regular customer, it has become increasingly frustrating to deal with the constant turnover of experienced employees for new ones being trained. Management is also ALWAYS in transition. They shift managers around from one location to another, and this is a terrible business practice - it may be one of the primary reasons this location is suffering. There is no consistency here. Not only are the majority of new people slow, they don't know the menu, and they cause increased wait times (we waited in line for 25, 30, & even 40 minutes on at least three separate occasions recently). No joke - 40 MINUTES for coffee, mid-morning, is ridiculous. To make matters worse, most of the new staff aren't being taught how to make drinks correctly. I have had to go thru the line 2, 3, and 4 TIMES when my drink wasn't right. Keep in mind, two of the drinks I usually order are not complicated - they require minimal experience to make - but this location is hit-or-miss, even with detailed instructions. I've even had an employee here tell me, after 3 attempts and me pulling around the line twice, that they simply can't make the drink but will give me a $4 coupon or a refund?!?! Really? We're talking about a Frappuccino with all of 3 ingredients here - nothing fancy. Some of the new employees, not going to name them, also have zero interpersonal skills. ZERO. No smile, no "I'm sorry you had to come back through the line for the third time," etc. These workers clearly do NOT want to be there. At least one of the new girls working here is so aloof I had to ask her to *check the case* to see if a bakery item was in stock. She had no earthly clue what I was even taking about. She initially told me they were sold out but my daughter ran in to use the restroom while I was in line and she saw the item I wanted in the case. Why on earth would someone - with limited knowledge of the menu - be given the task of working the drive-thru window with 6+ cars in line?! Within the past week, I was elated to pull into an empty drive-thru to realize I was the only person in line! First thought was, even if my drink isn't right, this will be quick. When I pulled up to the intercom, the associate spoke and said, "I'll be right with you." 7 minutes later (no exaggeration - we sat in silence for 7 straight minutes and nearly left), the associate finally asked to take my order, which took another 10 minutes to produce 3 items (bakery item, nitro brew, and sweet cream cold brew). The bakery item was cold when given to me, presumably due to having been warmed 10 min prior to the rest of the order being made. The last couple of days the place has been nearly dead for lack of customers, and while it's a sad sight, it's also a clear sign that I'm not the only one feeling frustration and buyer's remorse after coming here. If this place can turn things around I will happily change my review; if not, at least potential customers will have some idea of what to expect. Do NOT come here if there 5-6 cars (or more) in line and you don't have time to wait 30 min in the drive-thru. Final observations: This location is also frequently out of stock on popular items. Weekends are the absolute worst - by the time Sunday rolls around, they have next to nothing stocked. It's Monday or Tuesday before they receive a new shipment. So forget collecting those points & bonus stars offers on certain items - if the offer expires over the weekend you're out of luck. Last but not least, let's discuss the cleanliness, or lack thereof. This place was brand spanking new a little over 3 years ago. Gorgeous interior design. The management didn't keep this place clean from the start - the floors are always filthy now. There's typically dust and debris on the lid for the espresso beans. Bathrooms are poorly tended. I've watched cashiers take money and touch consumers' personal phones, then turn around and help make drinks without first washing their hands. That may be more of a staffing issue than anything but it shouldn't happen. I hope this place can get it together soon. As for now, I'm taking my business elsewhere. read more

It is 10:11pm and this is the second I've come to this Starbucks and they have been closed. The hours posted on the window, the hours posted on my GPS, and the time they actually close are all off. Not to mention two people walked by the window, looked at us in the drive through line, and kept working as if we weren't there. At least come to the window and explain why you're closed earlier than posted. ----------------------------------- Update and Still Done!!! I truly tried AGAIN only to be disappointed AGAIN!! I arrived 30 minutes before closing time. A tall Pike and 2 cheese danishes. My husband asked for his to be heated and they said they couldn't because all ovens are off. "But you're not closed." They said they don't run ovens 30 minutes before close. About 10 minutes later, I arrive home to heat my coffee and danish and there is a half cup of coffee in my cup It's a tall!!! That's already small and I didn't ask them to leave room for anything. So I'm thinking they stop making coffee or anything that needs to be put in the oven at 30 minutes before close and the shut their doors 5-10 minutes before close. First off it's exactly the quality items you expect from Starbucks. And this is a good location for me as it gives me incentive to walk the two miles there to get breakfast and tea. However, we have been here a half dozen times and the same girl is always at the register and SLOW! Each time she can't seem to get our order straight and more often than not forgets half our order. I absolutely love this Starbucks. I've been ordering the same drink for roughly over fifteen years. Every time I come into this Starbucks my drink is made correctly & if something is a tad off, they always seem to fix it for me. The set up was impressive, so were the bathrooms, the staff was super friendly and my drink was superb too. I ordered my drink in the drive thru and when I got to the window I ask if I could add a sandwich to my order. They told me no they aren't allowed to do that. Just visited this Starbucks, and it was great! I typically go to the Starbucks off of East Blvd, so this was the perfect change of pace, as far as parking and seating. I was served by Tommy, and he was great! I love coffee, but I prefer my drinks to be on the sweeter side. I always get a frappuccino or basic coffee. So, I call myself being adventurous and trying something new. I got my new drink, and felt it wasn't a good fit for me. I didn't want to return it, but I explained how I like my same ol drinks, and Tommy was able to jazz my drink up to my liking. I absolutely loved it!!!
